Galater 1
1 Paulus, Apostel, nicht von Menschen, noch durch einen Menschen, sondern durch Jesus Christus und Gott Vater, Der Ihn von den Toten auferweckt hat,
Paul, an apostle (not from humans, nor through humans, but through Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead),
2 Und alle Brüder, die bei mir sind, an die Gemeinden in Galatien.
and all the brothers who are with me, to the churches of Galatia:
3 Gnade euch und Friede von Gott dem Vater und unserem Herrn Jesus Christus,
Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ,
4 Der Sich für unsere Sünden hingegeben hat, auf daß Er uns erlöse von der gegenwärtigen argen Welt nach dem Willen Gottes und unseres Vaters, (aiōn g165)
who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us out of this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father— (aiōn g165)
to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 Mich wundert, daß ihr euch von dem, der euch zu Christus Gnade berufen hat, so bald habt abwenden lassen zu einem anderen Evangelium.
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you by the grace of Christ to a different "good news";
7 So es doch kein anderes gibt und nur etliche da sind, die euch verwirren und das Evangelium von Christus verkehren wollen.
and there is not another "good news." Only there are some who trouble you, and want to pervert the Good News of Christ.
8 Aber wenn auch wir oder ein Engel vom Himmel euch ein anderes Evangelium verkündigte, als wir euch verkündigt haben, der sei verflucht.
But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a "good news" other than that which we preached to you, let him be cursed.
9 Wie ich schon gesagt, sage ich euch abermals: Wenn euch einer ein anderes Evan- gelium predigt, als ihr empfangen habt, der sei verflucht.
As we have said before, so I now say again: if anyone preaches to you a "good news" other than that which you received, let him be cursed.
10 Rede ich jetzt Menschen oder Gott zu Dienst, oder suche ich Menschen zu gefallen? Wenn ich Menschen gefallen wollte, so wäre ich Christus Knecht nicht.
For am I now seeking the favor of people, or of God? Or am I striving to please people? For if I were still pleasing people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
11 Ich tue euch aber kund, Brüder, daß das Evangelium, das von mir gepredigt worden, nicht menschlicher Art ist.
But I make known to you, brothers, concerning the Good News which was preached by me, that it is not of human origin.
12 Denn ich habe es auch nicht von einem Menschen empfangen, noch erlernt, sondern durch die Offenbarung von Jesus Christus.
For neither did I receive it from a human, nor was I taught it, but it came to me through revelation of Jesus Christ.
13 Denn ihr habt ja wohl von meinem Wandel im Judentum gehört, daß ich die Gemeinde von Christus über die Maßen verfolgte und zu zerstören suchte;
For you have heard of my former way of life in Judaism, how I severely persecuted the church of God, and tried to destroy it.
14 Und es im Judentum vielen meines Alters in meinem Volke zuvor tat und ein heftigerer Eiferer für meine väterlichen Überlieferungen ward.
I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my countrymen, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
15 Als es aber Gott wohlgefiel, Der mich von Mutterleibe an ausersehen und durch Seine Gnade berufen hat,
But when God, who had set me apart from my mother's womb and called me through his grace, was pleased
16 Seinen Sohn in mir zu offenbaren, daß ich Ihn unter den Heiden verkündigen sollte; so ging ich schnurstracks, ohne mit Fleisch und Blut zu Rate zu gehen,
to reveal his Son to me, that I might preach him among those who are not Jewish, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood,
17 Oder mich nach Jerusalem an die zu wenden, die vor mir Apostel waren, sondern begab mich nach Arabien und kehrte von da wieder gen Damaskus.
nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me, but I went away into Arabia. Then I returned to Damascus.
18 Dann nach drei Jahren zog ich hinauf nach Jerusalem, um Petrus kennenzulernen, und blieb bei ihm fünfzehn Tage.
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Cephas and get information from him, and stayed with him fifteen days.
19 Einen anderen Apostel bekam ich nicht zu Gesicht außer Jakobus, den Bruder des Herrn.
But of the other apostles I saw no one, except James, the Lord's brother.
20 Was ich euch aber schreibe, siehe, bei Gott, ich lüge nicht.
Now about the things which I write to you, look, before God, I'm not lying.
21 Danach kam ich in die Gegenden von Syrien und Cilicien.
Then I came to the regions of Syria and Cilicia.
22 Ich war aber den christlichen Gemeinden in Judäa persönlich unbekannt.
I was still unknown by face to the churches of Judea which were in Christ,
23 Sie hatten nur von mir gehört: Der früher uns verfolgte, predigt jetzt den Glauben, den er weiland verstörte.
but they only heard: "He who once persecuted us now preaches the faith that he once tried to destroy."
24 Und sie priesen Gott über mir.
And they glorified God because of me.
