Matthaeus 26
1 Und es begab sich, als Jesus alle diese Reden beendet hatte, sprach er zu seinen Jüngern:
AND it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples,
2 Ihr wißt, daß in zwei Tagen das Passah ist; dann wird des Menschen Sohn überantwortet, damit er gekreuzigt werde.
Ye know that after two days is the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
3 Da versammelten sich die Hohenpriester und die Schriftgelehrten und die Ältesten des Volkes im Hofe des obersten Priesters, der Kajaphas hieß.
Then were the chief priests and scribes, and the elders of the people gathered together in the palace of the high-priest, called Caiaphas.
4 Und sie hielten miteinander Rat, wie sie Jesus mit List greifen und töten könnten.
And they consulted together, how they might seize Jesus by guile, and put him to death.
5 Sie sprachen aber: Nicht am Fest, damit kein Aufruhr unter dem Volk entsteht!
But they said, Not on the feast-day, lest there be a tumult among the people.
6 Als nun Jesus zu Bethanien im Hause Simons des Aussätzigen war,
Now when Jesus was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
7 trat ein Weib zu ihm mit einer alabasternen Flasche voll kostbarer Salbe und goß sie auf sein Haupt, während er zu Tische saß.
there came to him a woman having an alabaster-box of very precious aromatic ointment, and poured it upon his head as he sat at table.
8 Als das seine Jünger sahen, wurden sie entrüstet und sprachen: Wozu diese Verschwendung?
But when the disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, For what end is this waste?
9 Man hätte das teuer verkaufen und den Armen geben können!
For this ointment might have been sold for a considerable sum, and given to the poor.
10 Da es aber Jesus merkte, sprach er zu ihnen: Warum bekümmert ihr das Weib? Sie hat doch ein gutes Werk an mir getan!
Then Jesus knowing it, said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath performed a good act upon me:
11 Denn die Armen habt ihr allezeit bei euch, mich aber habt ihr nicht allezeit!
for the poor ye have always with you, but me ye have not always:
12 Damit, daß sie diese Salbe auf meinen Leib goß, hat sie mich zum Begräbnis gerüstet.
for in pouring this odoriferous ointment on my body, she hath done it for my burial.
13 Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wo immer dieses Evangelium gepredigt wird in der ganzen Welt, da wird man auch sagen, was diese getan hat, zu ihrem Gedächtnis!
Verily I say unto you, Wherever this Gospel is preached through the whole world, what she hath done shall be also spoken of for a memorial of her.
14 Da ging einer der Zwölf, namens Judas Ischariot, hin zu den Hohenpriestern
Then went one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, to the chief priests,
15 und sprach: Was wollt ihr mir geben, wenn ich ihn euch verrate? Und sie wogen ihm dreißig Silberlinge dar.
and said, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? Then they placed before him thirty pieces of silver.
16 Und von da an suchte er eine gute Gelegenheit, ihn zu verraten.
And from that time he sought an opportunity to deliver him up to them.
17 Am ersten Tage nun der ungesäuerten Brote traten die Jünger zu Jesus und sprachen zu ihm: Wo willst du, daß wir dir das Passahmahl zu essen bereiten?
Then on the first day of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?
18 Und er sprach: Gehet hin in die Stadt zu dem und dem und sprechet zu ihm: Der Meister läßt dir sagen: Meine Zeit ist nahe; bei dir will ich mit meinen Jüngern das Passah halten!
And he said, Go into the city, unto such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand: I will keep the passover with my disciples at thy house.
19 Und die Jünger taten, wie Jesus ihnen befohlen, und bereiteten das Passah.
And his disciples did as Jesus commanded them; and they made ready the passover.
20 Als es nun Abend geworden, setzte er sich mit den zwölf Jüngern zu Tische.
And when the evening was come, he sat down at table with the twelve.
21 Und während sie aßen, sprach er: Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Einer von euch wird mich verraten!
And as they were eating, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
22 Da wurden sie sehr betrübt und fingen an, einer nach dem andern, ihn zu fragen: Herr, doch nicht ich?
And exceedingly grieved, they began to say to him every one of them, Lord, am I the person?
23 Er antwortete aber und sprach: Der mit mir die Hand in die Schüssel taucht, der wird mich verraten.
But he answering said, He that dippeth his hand with me into the dish, that man shall betray me.
24 Des Menschen Sohn geht zwar dahin, wie von ihm geschrieben steht; aber wehe dem Menschen, durch welchen des Menschen Sohn verraten wird! Es wäre diesem Menschen besser, daß er nicht geboren wäre.
The Son of man indeed is departing, as it is written of him: but wo to that man, by whom the Son of man is betrayed! well had it been for that man if he had never had a being.
25 Da antwortete Judas, der ihn verriet, und sprach: Rabbi, doch nicht ich? Er spricht zu ihm: Du hast es gesagt!
Then Judas, who betrayed him, addressing him said, Master, is it I? He saith to him, Thou hast named the person.
26 Als sie nun aßen, nahm Jesus das Brot, dankte, brach es, gab es den Jüngern und sprach: Nehmet, esset! Das ist mein Leib.
Then as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessing, brake, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
27 Und er nahm den Kelch, dankte, gab ihnen denselben und sprach: Trinket alle daraus!
And taking the cup, and giving thanks, he gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of this:
28 Denn das ist mein Blut des Bundes, welches für viele vergossen wird zur Vergebung der Sünden!
for this is my blood, that blood of the new testament, which is shed for many, for the remission of sins.
29 Ich sage euch aber, ich werde von jetzt an von diesem Gewächs des Weinstocks nicht mehr trinken, bis zu jenem Tage, da ich es neu mit euch trinken werde im Reiche meines Vaters.
And I tell you, That I will no more henceforth drink of this produce of the vine, until that day when I drink it with you, new, in the kingdom of my Father.
30 Und nachdem sie den Lobgesang gesungen hatten, gingen sie hinaus an den Ölberg.
And when they had sung an hymn, they went out to the mount of Olives.
31 Da spricht Jesus zu ihnen: Ihr werdet euch in dieser Nacht alle an mir ärgern; denn es steht geschrieben: «Ich werde den Hirten schlagen, und die Schafe der Herde werden sich zerstreuen.»
Then saith Jesus unto them, Ye all will be offended at me this night: for it is written, “I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.”
32 Wenn ich aber auferstanden sein werde, will ich euch nach Galiläa vorangehen.
But after I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.
33 Da antwortete Petrus und sprach zu ihm: Wenn sich auch alle an dir ärgern, so werde doch ich mich niemals ärgern!
Then Peter, taking up the word, said to him, Though all should be offended at thee, yet will I never be offended.
34 Jesus spricht zu ihm: Wahrlich, ich sage dir, in dieser Nacht, ehe der Hahn kräht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen!
Jesus saith to him, I tell thee of a certainty, that this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
35 Petrus spricht zu ihm: Und wenn ich auch mit dir sterben müßte, werde ich dich nicht verleugnen! Gleicherweise sprachen auch alle Jünger.
Peter said to him, Though I should die with thee, never will I deny thee. In like manner also said all the disciples.
36 Da kommt Jesus mit ihnen in ein Gut, namens Gethsemane. Und er spricht zu den Jüngern: Setzet euch hier, während ich dorthin gehe und bete.
Then cometh Jesus with them to a place called Gethsemane, and saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
37 Und er nahm zu sich Petrus und die zwei Söhne des Zebedäus und fing an, betrübt zu werden, und ihm graute sehr.
And taking Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be deeply sorrowful, and to be overwhelmed with dejection.
38 Da spricht er zu ihnen: Meine Seele ist tiefbetrübt bis zum Tod! Bleibet hier und wachet mit mir!
Then saith he to them. My soul is exceeding sorrowful even to death: abide here, and watch with me.
39 Und er ging ein wenig vorwärts, warf sich auf sein Angesicht, betete und sprach: Mein Vater! Ist es möglich, so gehe dieser Kelch an mir vorüber; doch nicht, wie ich will, sondern wie du willst!
And going a little farther, he fell on his face, praying, and saying, My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.
40 Und er kommt zu den Jüngern und findet sie schlafend und spricht zu Petrus: Könnt ihr also nicht eine Stunde mit mir wachen?
And he cometh to the disciples, and findeth them sleeping, and he saith to Peter, Is it so, that ye have not strength to watch with me one hour?
41 Wachet und betet, damit ihr nicht in Anfechtung fallet! Der Geist ist willig; aber das Fleisch ist schwach.
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh weak.
42 Wiederum zum zweitenmal, ging er hin, betete und sprach: Mein Vater, wenn dieser Kelch nicht an mir vorübergehen kann, ohne daß ich ihn trinke, so geschehe dein Wille!
Again the second time he went away, and prayed, saying, O my Father, If it be not possible, that this cup pass from me, but that I should drink it, thy will be done.
43 Und er kommt und findet sie abermals schlafend; denn die Augen waren ihnen schwer geworden.
And coming, he found them asleep again, for their eyes were weighed down.
44 Und er ließ sie, ging wieder hin, betete zum drittenmal und sprach dieselben Worte.
And leaving them, he went away again, and prayed the third time, repeating the same sentence.
45 Da kommt er zu seinen Jüngern und spricht zu ihnen: Schlaft ihr noch immer und ruhet? Siehe, die Stunde ist nahe, und des Menschen Sohn wird in die Hände der Sünder überliefert!
Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Do ye still sleep on, and repose yourselves? lo! the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46 Stehet auf, laßt uns gehen! Siehe, der mich verrät, ist nahe!
Arise, let us go: lo! he that betrayeth me approaches.
47 Und während er noch redete, siehe, da kam Judas, einer der Zwölf, und mit ihm eine große Schar mit Schwertern und Stöcken, von den Hohenpriestern und Ältesten des Volkes her.
And while he was yet speaking, behold, Judas one of the twelve came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Der ihn aber verriet, hatte ihnen ein Zeichen gegeben und gesagt: Welchen ich küssen werde, der ist's, den ergreifet!
Now he that betrayed him had given them a signal, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he: seize him.
49 Und alsbald trat er zu Jesus und sprach: Sei gegrüßt, Rabbi, und küßte ihn.
And immediately approaching to Jesus, he said, Hail, master; and kissed him.
50 Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Freund, wozu bist du hier? Da traten sie hinzu, legten Hand an Jesus und nahmen ihn fest.
Then spake Jesus to him, Friend, for what purpose art thou here? Then approaching they laid hands on Jesus, and seized him.
51 Und siehe, einer von denen, die bei Jesus waren, streckte die Hand aus, zog sein Schwert und schlug den Knecht des Hohenpriesters und hieb ihm ein Ohr ab.
And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretching out his hand, drew his sword, and striking at a servant of the high-priest, cut off his ear.
52 Da sprach Jesus zu ihm: Stecke dein Schwert an seinen Ort! Denn alle, die das Schwert ergreifen, werden durch das Schwert umkommen.
Then saith Jesus unto him, Return thy sword into its sheath: for all who take the sword, shall perish by the sword.
53 Oder meinst du, ich könnte nicht meinen Vater bitten, und er würde mir noch jetzt mehr als zwölf Legionen Engel schicken?
Thinkest thou, that I cannot now entreat my Father, and he will give me more than twelve legions of angels?
54 Wie würden dann aber die Schriften erfüllt, daß es so kommen muß?
But how then would the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
55 In jener Stunde sprach Jesus zu der Schar: Wie gegen einen Mörder seid ihr ausgezogen mit Schwertern und Stöcken, mich zu ergreifen! Täglich bin ich bei euch lehrend im Tempel gesessen, und ihr habt mich nicht ergriffen.
In that hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a robber, with swords and staves to apprehend me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid not hold upon me.
56 Das alles aber ist geschehen, damit die Schriften der Propheten erfüllt würden. Da verließen ihn alle Jünger und flohen.
But all this is come to pass, that the scriptures of the prophets should be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
57 Die aber Jesus festgenommen hatten, führten ihn ab zu dem Hohenpriester Kajaphas, wo die Schriftgelehrten und die Ältesten versammelt waren.
Then they who had apprehended Jesus, brought him to Caiaphas the high-priest, where the scribes and elders were assembled.
58 Petrus aber folgte ihnen von ferne, bis zum Hof des Hohenpriesters. Und er ging hinein und setzte sich zu den Dienern, um den Ausgang [der Sache] zu sehen.
But Peter followed him at a great distance unto the palace of the high-priest, and entering in, sat down with the servants, to see the issue.
59 Aber die Hohenpriester und die Ältesten und der ganze Rat suchten falsches Zeugnis wider Jesus, um ihn zum Tode zu bringen.
Now the chief priests and elders and the whole sanhedrim, sought false witness against Jesus, that they might put him to death;
60 Aber sie fanden keins, obgleich viele falsche Zeugen herzukamen.
and found none: and though many false witnesses came, they found it not sufficient. But at the last two false witnesses stepping forth,
61 Zuletzt aber kamen zwei und sprachen: Dieser hat gesagt: Ich kann den Tempel Gottes zerstören und ihn in drei Tagen aufbauen.
said, This fellow said, I am able to pull down the temple of God, and to build it up in three days.
62 Und der Hohepriester stand auf und sprach zu ihm: Antwortest du nichts auf das, was diese wider dich zeugen?
And the high-priest rising up, said to him, Answerest thou nothing? what do these men witness against thee?
63 Jesus aber schwieg. Und der Hohepriester sprach zu ihm: Ich beschwöre dich bei dem lebendigen Gott, daß du uns sagest, ob du der Christus, der Sohn Gottes bist!
But Jesus was silent. And the high-priest addressing him, said, I adjure thee, by the living God, that thou tell us, if thou art the Messiah, the Son of God.
64 Jesus spricht zu ihm: Du hast es gesagt! Überdies sage ich euch: Von jetzt an werdet ihr des Menschen Sohn sitzen sehen zur Rechten der Kraft und kommen auf den Wolken des Himmels!
Jesus saith to him, Thou hast spoken the fact. Moreover I tell you, hereafter ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
65 Da zerriß der Hohepriester seine Kleider und sprach: Er hat gelästert! Was bedürfen wir weiter Zeugen? Siehe, nun habt ihr seine Lästerung gehört.
Then the high-priest rent his garments, saying, he hath blasphemed: what farther need have we of witnesses? lo! now ye have heard his blasphemy:
66 Was dünkt euch? Sie antworteten und sprachen: Er ist des Todes schuldig!
what think ye? They answered and said, He is deserving of death.
67 Da spieen sie ihm ins Angesicht und schlugen ihn mit Fäusten; andere gaben ihm Backenstreiche
Then they spit in his face, and buffeted him about; and some slapt his face with their hands,
68 und sprachen: Christus, weissage uns! Wer ist's, der dich geschlagen hat?
saying, Prophesy to us, you Messiah, who it is that struck thee!
69 Petrus aber saß draußen im Hof. Und eine Magd trat zu ihm und sprach: Auch du warst mit Jesus, dem Galiläer!
Now Peter sat without in the hall: and there came to him a single maid-servant, saying, Thou also wert with Jesus of Galilee.
70 Er aber leugnete vor allen und sprach: Ich weiß nicht, was du sagst!
But he denied it before them all, asserting, I know not what thou art saying.
71 Als er dann in den Vorhof hinausging, sah ihn eine andere und sprach zu denen, die dort waren: Dieser war mit Jesus, dem Nazarener!
Then as he was going out at the gate, another maid-servant saw him, and saith to those who were there, This fellow also was with Jesus of Nazareth.
72 Und er leugnete abermals mit einem Schwur: Ich kenne den Menschen nicht!
Then again he denied with an oath, I know not the man.
73 Bald darauf aber traten die Umstehenden herzu und sagten zu Petrus: Wahrhaftig, du bist auch einer von ihnen; denn auch deine Sprache verrät dich.
But after a little while they who stood by, came up and said to Peter, Assuredly thou also art one of them: for even thy speech maketh thee manifest.
74 Da fing er an zu fluchen und zu schwören: Ich kenne den Menschen nicht! Und alsbald krähte der Hahn.
Then began he to utter the bitterest curses, and to swear, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
75 Und Petrus ward eingedenk des Wortes Jesu, der zu ihm gesagt hatte: Ehe der Hahn kräht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen. Und er ging hinaus und weinte bitterlich.
And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who had said unto him, Before the cock shall crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And going out, he wept bitterly.
