Matthaeus 4
1 Darauf ward Jesus in die Einsamkeit geführt, um vom Teufel versucht zu werden.
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
2 Er hatte vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte lang gefastet, und nun hungerte ihn.
When he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
3 Da trat der Versucher an ihn heran und sprach: "Wenn du der Sohn Gottes bist, so sprich, daß diese Steine hier Brot werden."
The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread.”
4 Doch er gab ihm zur Antwort: "Es steht geschrieben: 'Der Mensch lebt nicht vom Brot allein, sondern von jedem Worte, das aus dem Munde Gottes kommt'".
But Jesus answered and said to him, “It is written, 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.'”
5 Darauf entführte ihn der Teufel in die heilige Stadt und stellte ihn auf die Zinne des Tempels
Then the devil took him into the holy city and set him on the highest point of the temple building,
6 und sprach zu ihm: "Wenn du der Sohn Gottes bist, so stürze dich hinab. Denn also steht geschrieben: 'Seinen Engeln hat er deinethalben befohlen, und sie werden dich auf den Händen tragen, damit du nicht etwa deinen Fuß an einen Stein anstoßest.'"
and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, 'He will command his angels to take care of you,' and, 'They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not hit your foot against a stone.'”
7 Doch Jesus sprach zu ihm: "Es steht nochmals geschrieben: 'Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, nicht versuchen'".
Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, 'You must not test the Lord your God.'”
8 Nun entführte ihn der Teufel auf einen sehr hohen Berg, zeigte ihm alle Reiche der Welt und deren Herrlichkeit
Again, the devil took him up to a very high hill and showed him all the kingdoms of the world along with all their splendor.
9 und sprach zu ihm: "All dies will ich dir geben, wenn du niederfällst und mich anbetest."
He said to him, “All these things I will give you, if you fall down and worship me.”
10 Jetzt aber rief ihm Jesus zu: "Hinweg, Satan! Es steht geschrieben: 'Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, anbeten und ihm allein dienen'".
Then Jesus said to him, “Go away from here, Satan! For it is written, 'You will worship the Lord your God, and you will serve only him.'”
11 Nun verließ ihn der Teufel, und siehe, Engel traten herzu und dienten ihm.
Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and served him.
12 Als Jesus hörte, Johannes sei gefangengenommen, begab er sich nach Galiläa zurück.
Now when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee.
13 Er verließ jedoch Nazareth und ließ sich in Kapharnaum, das am Meer liegt, nieder, im Grenzgebiet von Zabulon und Nephtalim.
He left Nazareth and went and lived in Capernaum, which is by the Sea of Galilee, in the territories of Zebulun and Naphtali.
14 So sollte sich erfüllen, was der Prophet Isaias gesprochen, wenn er sagt:
This happened to fulfill what was said by Isaiah the prophet,
15 "Land Zabulon und Land Nephtalim, du Weg am Meer, jenseits des Jordans, Galiläa, Land der Heiden.
“The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, toward the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles!
16 Das Volk, das im Finstern sitzt, sah ein großes Licht, und denen, die im Schattenland des Todes weilen, erschien ein Licht".
The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, upon them has a light arisen.”
17 Und jetzt fing Jesus an zu predigen. "Bekehret euch", rief er, "das Himmelreich ist nahe."
From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
18 Einst wanderte er am Meere von Galiläa entlang, als er zwei Brüder sah: den Simon, der auch Petrus heißt, und Andreas, dessen Bruder. Sie warfen eben ein Netz ins Meer: sie waren nämlich Fischer.
As he was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
19 Er sprach zu ihnen: "Kommt! Folget mir! ich werde euch zu Menschenfischern machen."
Jesus said to them, “Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
20 Sofort ließen sie ihre Netze liegen und folgten ihm.
Immediately they left the nets and followed him.
21 Als er von da weiterging, sah er zwei andere Brüder, den Jakobus, den Sohn des Zebedäus, und Johannes, dessen Bruder. Sie legten in ihrem Boote gerade ihre Netze zurecht mit ihrem Vater Zebedäus. Und er berief sie.
As Jesus was going on from there he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee, and John his brother. They were in the boat with Zebedee their father mending their nets. He called them,
22 Auf der Stelle verließen sie das Boot und ihren Vater und folgten ihm.
and they immediately left the boat and their father and followed him.
23 Jesus zog durch ganz Galiläa hin. Er predigte in ihren Synagogen, verkündete die frohe Botschaft vom Reich und heilte alle Krankheiten und Plagen im Volke.
Jesus went about in all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and sickness among the people.
24 Sein Ruf drang durch ganz Syrien hin; man brachte zu ihm alle, die an mancherlei Gebrechen litten und mit Krankheiten schwer belastet waren, besonders auch Besessene, Mondsüchtige, Gelähmte, und er heilte sie.
The news about him went out into all of Syria, and the people brought to him all those who were sick, ill with various diseases and pains, those possessed by demons, and the epileptic and paralytic. Jesus healed them.
25 Große Scharen folgten ihm aus Galiläa, der Dekapolis, Jerusalem, Judäa und aus der Gegend jenseits des Jordans.
Large crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.
