1 Timotheus 4
1 Der Geist sagt bestimmt, daß in den künftigen Zeiten manche vom Glauben abfallen und Irrgeistern und Lehren von den Dämonen sich hingeben werden,
But the spirit seith opynli, that in the laste tymes summen schulen departe fro the feith, yyuynge tent to spiritis of errour, and to techingis of deuelis; that speken leesing in ipocrisie,
2 Menschen, die mit heuchlerischem Sinne Lügen reden und die an ihrem eigenen Gewissen gebrandmarkt sind,
and haue her conscience corrupt,
3 Menschen, die das Heiraten verbieten und den Genuß gewisser Speisen, die Gott geschaffen hat, damit sie von den Gläubigen, die die Wahrheit erkannt haben, mit Danksagung genossen würden.
forbedinge to be weddid, to absteyne fro metis, whiche God made to take with doyng of thankingis, to feithful men, and hem that han knowe the treuthe.
4 Denn alles, was Gott geschaffen hat, ist gut und nichts verwerflich, wenn es nur mit Danksagung genossen wird.
For ech creature of God is good, and no thing is to be cast awei, which is takun with doyng of thankyngis;
5 Geheiligt wird es ja durch das Wort Gottes und durch Gebet.
for it is halewid bi the word of God, and bi preyer.
6 Wenn du dies den Brüdern ans Herz legst, dann wirst du ein guter Diener Christi Jesu sein, der sich an den Worten des Glaubens und an der rechten Lehre nährt; sie hast du dir ja zur Richtschnur genommen.
Thou puttynge forth these thingis to britheren, schalt be a good mynystre of Crist Jhesu; nurschid with wordis of feith and of good doctryne, which thou hast gete.
7 Altweiberfabeln aber und Albernheiten weise ab; übe dich vielmehr für die Frömmigkeit.
But eschewe thou vncouenable fablis, and elde wymmenus fablis; haunte thi silf to pitee.
8 Die Leibesübung bringt wenig Nutzen, die Frömmigkeit dagegen ist zu allem nützlich, weil sie die Verheißung hat für dieses Leben und für das künftige.
For bodili exercitation is profitable to litle thing; but pitee is profitable to alle thingis, that hath a biheest of lijf that now is, and that is to come.
9 Dies Wort ist wahr und wohl wert, daß es allgemein angenommen werde.
A trewe word, and worthi al acceptacioun.
10 Denn dafür mühen wir uns ab und kämpfen wir, weil wir unsere Hoffnung auf den lebendigen Gott gesetzt haben, den Retter aller Menschen, vor allem der Gläubigen.
And in this thing we trauelen, and ben cursid, for we hopen in lyuyng God, that is sauyour of alle men, moost of feithful men.
11 Dies sollst du einschärfen und lehren.
Comaunde thou this thing, and teche.
12 Niemand schätze dich deiner Jugend wegen gering. Sei vielmehr ein Vorbild für die Gläubigen im Wort, im Wandel, in Liebe, im Glauben, in der Reinheit.
No man dispise thi yongthe, but be thou ensaumple of feithful men in word, in lyuyng, in charite, in feith, in chastite.
13 Bis ich komme, widme dich der Vorlesung, dem Ermahnen und dem Lehren.
Tyl Y come, take tent to redyng, to exortacioun and teching.
14 Achte die Gnadengabe in dir nicht gering, die dir verliehen ward zufolge Weissagung und unter der Handauflegung des Presbyteriums.
Nyle thou litil charge the grace which is in thee, that is youun to thee bi profecie, with putting on of the hondis of preesthod.
15 Nimm dies zu Herzen, gehe ganz darin auf, damit dein Fortschritt allen offenkundig sei.
Thenke thou these thingis, in these be thou, that thi profiting be schewid to alle men.
16 Achte auf dich selbst und auf die Lehre, halte daran fest. Denn wenn du dies tust, wirst du dich selbst und deine Hörer retten.
Take tent to thi silf and to doctryn; be bisi in hem. For thou doynge these thingis, schalt `make bothe thi silf saaf, and hem that heren thee.
