1 Chronik 5

1 Die Söhne Rubens, des Erstgeborenen Israels: - er war ja der Erstgeborene. Als er aber seines Vaters Lager entweihte, ist sein Erstgeburtsrecht den Söhnen des Israelsohnes Joseph verliehen worden. Aber die Erstgeburt ist nicht in die Sippenliste eingetragen worden.

Also, there were the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel. For indeed, he was his firstborn, but when he had violated the bed of his father, his right as firstborn was given to the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel, and he was not reputed as firstborn.

2 Denn Juda ist unter seinen Brüdern mächtig geworden und ein Fürst, größer als jener. Das Erstgeburtsrecht gehört aber Joseph.

Moreover, Judah, who was strongest among his brothers, from his stock leaders sprung up, but the right of firstborn was reputed to Joseph.

3 Rubens, des Erstgeborenen Israels, Söhne sind Chanok, Pallu, Chesron und Karmi.

So then, the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, were Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi.

4 Joels Söhne sind sein Sohn Semaja, dessen Sohn Gog, dessen Sohn Simei,

The sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,

5 dessen Sohn Mika, dessen Sohn Reaja, dessen Sohn Baal,

Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,

6 dessen Sohn Beera, den Tilgat Pilneser, Assyriens König, in Gefangenschaft geführt hat. Er ist ein Fürst der Rubeniten.

Beerah his son, whom Tilgath-pilneser, the king of the Assyrians, led away captive, and he was a leader in the tribe of Reuben.

7 Seine Brüder, nach seinen Sippen, nach der Abstammung verzeichnet, sind das Haupt Jeiel, ferner Zakarja

8 und Bela, des Azaz Sohn, Enkel des Sema und Urenkel Joels. Er wohnte zu Aroër und bis nach Nebo und Baal Meon.

Now Bela, the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, lived in Aroer, as far as Nebo and Baalmeon.

9 Nach Osten hat er bis zum Rand der Wüste vom Euphratstrome an gewohnt. Denn ihre Herden im Lande Gilead sind zahlreich gewesen.

And he lived toward the eastern region, as far as the entrance to the wilderness and the river Euphrates. For indeed, they possessed a great number of cattle in the land of Gilead.

10 In Sauls Tagen stritten sie mit den Hagritern. Diese fielen in ihre Hand, und sie wohnten in deren Zelten auf Gileads ganzer Ostseite.

Then, in the days of Saul, they battled against the Hagarites and put them to death. And they lived in place of them, in their dwellings, throughout the entire region that looks to the east of Gilead.

11 Gads Söhne haben im Lande Basan bis Saleka, ihnen gegenüber, gewohnt:

Truly, the sons of Gad lived in the opposite region from them, in the land of Bashan, as far as Salecah:

12 das Haupt Joel, Saphan, der zweite, und Janai und Saphat in Basan.

Joel the head, and Shapham the second, then Janai and Shaphat, in Bashan.

13 Ihre Brüder sind nach ihren Familien Mikael, Mesullam, Seba, Josai, Jakan, Zi und Eber, sieben.

Truly, their brothers, according to the houses of their kindred, were: Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jacan, and Zia, and Eber, seven.

14 Dies sind die Söhne Abichails, des Churisohns und Enkels des Jaroach, des Sohns Gileads und Enkels des Mikael, des Jesisaisohns und Enkels des Jachda, des Buzsohns.

These were the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz,

15 Achi, Abdiels Sohn und Gunis Enkel, war ein Haupt ihrer Familien.

along with their brothers, the sons of Abdiel, the son of Guni, the leader of the house, in their families,

16 Sie wohnten in Gilead, Basan und dessen Tochterstädten, sowie auf allen Weidetriften Sarons bis an ihre Ausgänge.

And they lived in Gilead, and in Bashan and its towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, as far as the borders.

17 Sie alle sind in des Judakönigs Jotam und des Israelskönigs Jeroboam Tagen aufgezeichnet worden.

All these were numbered in the days of Jotham, the king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, the king of Israel:

18 Die Söhne Rubens und Gads sowie der Halbstamm Manasse, tapfere Männer, die Schild und Schwert trugen, den Bogen spannten und kampfgeübt waren, 440 und zwar leichtbewaffnete, kriegstüchtige Söldner,

the sons of Reuben, and of Gad, and the one half tribe of Manasseh, men of war, carrying shields and swords, and bending the bow, and trained for battle, forty-four thousand and seven hundred sixty, advancing to the fight.

19 führten mit den Hagritern Krieg, ebenso mit Jetur, Naphis und Nodab.

They struggled against the Hagarites, yet truly the Jetureans, and Naphish, and Nodab offered assistance to them.

20 Ihnen ward gegen sie geholfen, und so wurden die Hagriter in ihre Hand gegeben, ebenso alle, die bei ihnen waren. Denn sie hatten im Kampfe zu Gott geschrieen, und er hatte sich von ihnen erbitten lassen, weil sie auf ihn vertraut hatten.

And the Hagarites were delivered into their hands, and all who were with them. For they called upon God while they did battle. And he heeded them, because they had trusted in him.

21 Sie führten deren Herden weg: 50.000 Kamele, 250.000 Schafe, 2.000 Esel und 100.000 Menschenseelen.

And they seized all that they possessed, of camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred fifty thousand, and of donkeys two thousand, and of men one hundred thousand lives.

22 Denn viele waren durchbohrt gefallen, weil der Krieg von Gott kam. Dann wohnten sie an ihrer Stelle bis zu der Verbannung.

And many fell down wounded. For it was a war of the Lord. And they lived in place of them, until the transmigration.

23 Auch die Söhne des Halbstammes Manasse haben im Lande Basan gewohnt bis Baal Hermon, Senir und bis zum Hermongebirge. Sie waren zahlreich.

Also, the sons of the one half tribe of Manasseh possessed the land, from the parts of Bashan as far as Baal, Hermon, and Sanir, and Mount Hermon. For certainly, their number was immense.

24 Dies sind ihre Familienhäupter: Epher, Isei, Eliel, Azriel, Irmeja, Hodavja und Jachdiel, tapfere Krieger, berühmte Männer, Häupter in ihren Familien.

And these were leaders of the house of their kindred: Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, very valiant and powerful men, and renowned leaders in their families.

25 Sie waren aber gegen den Gott ihrer Väter treulos und buhlten mit den Göttern der Landesvölker, die Gott vor ihnen vertilgt hatte.

But they abandoned the God of their fathers, and they fornicated after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God took away before them.

26 So reizte Israels Gott die Wut des Assyrerkönigs Pul, ebenso die Wut des Assyrerkönigs Tilgat Pilneser und ließ sie die Rubeniten, Gaditen und den Halbstamm Manasse wegführen und sie nach Chelach und zum Chabor bringen, nach Hara und zum Flusse Gozan bis auf diesen Tag.

And so the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul, the king of the Assyrians, and the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser, the king of Assur. And he took away Reuben, and Gad, and the one half tribe of Manasseh. And he led them to Halah, and to Habor, and to Hara, and to the river of Gozan, even to this day.
