Psalm 18
1 Dem Vorsänger. Von dem Knechte Jehovas, von David, der die Worte dieses Liedes zu Jehova redete an dem Tage, als Jehova ihn errettet hatte aus der Hand aller seiner Feinde und aus der Hand Sauls. Und er sprach: Ich liebe dich, Jehova, meine Stärke!
To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid the seruant of the Lord, which spake unto the Lord the wordes of this song (in the day that the Lord delivered him for the hande of all this enemies, and form the and of saul) and sayd, I will loue thee dearely, O Lord my strength.
2 Jehova ist mein Fels und meine Burg und mein Erretter; mein Gott, mein Hort, auf ihn werde ich trauen, mein Schild und das Horn meines Heils, meine hohe Feste.
The Lord is my rocke, and my fortresse, and he that deliuereth me, my God and my strength: in him will I trust, my shield, the horne also of my saluation, and my refuge.
3 Ich werde Jehova anrufen, der zu loben ist, und ich werde gerettet werden von meinen Feinden.
I will call vpon the Lord, which is worthie to be praysed: so shall I be safe from mine enemies.
4 Es umfingen mich die Bande des Todes, und die Ströme Belials erschreckten mich;
The sorowes of death compassed me, and the floods of wickednes made me afraide.
The sorowes of the graue haue compassed me about: the snares of death ouertooke me. (Sheol h7585)
6 In meiner Bedrängnis rief ich zu Jehova, und ich schrie zu meinem Gott; er hörte aus seinem Tempel meine Stimme, und mein Schrei vor ihm kam in seine Ohren.
But in my trouble did I call vpon the Lord, and cryed vnto my God: he heard my voyce out of his Temple, and my crye did come before him, euen into his eares.
7 Da wankte und bebte die Erde, und die Grundfesten der Berge erzitterten und wankten, weil er entbrannt war.
Then the earth trembled, and quaked: the foundations also of the mountaines mooued and shooke, because he was angrie.
8 Rauch stieg auf von seiner Nase, und Feuer fraß aus seinem Munde; glühende Kohlen brannten aus ihm.
Smoke went out at his nostrels, and a consuming fire out of his mouth: coales were kindled thereat.
9 Und er neigte die Himmel und fuhr hernieder, und Dunkel war unter seinen Füßen.
He bowed the heauens also and came downe, and darkenes was vnder his feete.
10 Und er fuhr auf einem Cherub und flog daher, und er schwebte auf den Fittichen des Windes.
And he rode vpon Cherub and did flie, and he came flying vpon the wings of the winde.
11 Finsternis machte er zu seinem Bergungsort, zu seinem Zelte rings um sich her, Finsternis der Wasser, dichtes Himmelsgewölk.
He made darkenes his secrete place, and his pauilion round about him, euen darkenesse of waters, and cloudes of the ayre.
12 Aus dem Glanze vor ihm fuhr sein dichtes Gewölk vorüber, Hagel und feurige Kohlen.
At the brightnes of his presence his clouds passed, haylestones and coles of fire.
13 Und es donnerte Jehova in den Himmeln, und der Höchste ließ seine Stimme erschallen, Hagel und feurige Kohlen.
The Lord also thundred in the heauen, and the Highest gaue his voyce, haylestones and coales of fire.
14 Und er schoß seine Pfeile und zerstreute sie, und er schleuderte Blitze und verwirrte sie.
Then hee sent out his arrowes and scattred them, and he increased lightnings and destroyed them.
15 Und es wurden gesehen die Betten der Wasser, und die Grundfesten des Erdkreises wurden aufgedeckt vor deinem Schelten, Jehova, vor dem Schnauben des Hauches deiner Nase.
And the chanels of waters were seene, and the foundations of the worlde were discouered at thy rebuking, O Lord, at the blasting of the breath of thy nostrels.
16 Er streckte seine Hand aus von der Höhe, er nahm mich, er zog mich aus großen Wassern.
He hath sent downe from aboue and taken mee: hee hath drawen mee out of many waters.
17 Er errettete mich von meinem starken Feinde und von meinen Hassern, denn sie waren mächtiger als ich.
He hath deliuered mee from my strong enemie, and from them which hate me: for they were too strong for me.
18 Sie ereilten mich am Tage meines Unglücks, aber Jehova ward mir zur Stütze.
They preuented me in the day of my calamitie: but the Lord was my stay.
19 Und er führte mich heraus ins Weite, er befreite mich, weil er Lust an mir hatte.
Hee brought mee foorth also into a large place: hee deliuered mee because hee fauoured me.
20 Jehova vergalt mir nach meiner Gerechtigkeit, nach der Reinheit meiner Hände erstattete er mir.
The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousnes: according to the purenes of mine hands he recompensed me:
21 Denn ich habe die Wege Jehovas bewahrt, und bin von meinem Gott nicht frevelhaft abgewichen.
Because I kept the wayes of the Lord, and did not wickedly against my God.
22 Denn alle seine Rechte waren vor mir, und seine Satzungen, ich entfernte sie nicht von mir.
For all his Lawes were before mee, and I did not cast away his commandements from mee.
23 Und ich war vollkommen gegen ihn, und hütete mich vor meiner Ungerechtigkeit.
I was vpright also with him, and haue kept me from my wickednes.
24 Und Jehova erstattete mir nach meiner Gerechtigkeit, nach der Reinheit meiner Hände vor seinen Augen.
Therefore the Lord rewarded me according to my righteousnesse, and according to the purenes of mine hands in his sight.
25 Gegen den Gütigen erzeigst du dich gütig, gegen den vollkommenen Mann erzeigst du dich vollkommen;
With the godly thou wilt shewe thy selfe godly: with the vpright man thou wilt shew thy selfe vpright.
26 gegen den Reinen erzeigst du dich rein, und gegen den Verkehrten erzeigst du dich entgegenstreitend.
With the pure thou wilt shewe thy selfe pure, and with the froward thou wilt shewe thy selfe froward.
27 Denn du, du wirst retten das elende Volk, und die hohen Augen wirst du erniedrigen.
Thus thou wilt saue the poore people, and wilt cast downe the proude lookes.
28 Denn du, du machst meine Leuchte scheinen; Jehova, mein Gott, erhellt meine Finsternis.
Surely thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God wil lighten my darkenes.
29 Denn mit dir werde ich gegen eine Schar anrennen, und mit meinem Gott werde ich eine Mauer überspringen.
For by thee I haue broken through an hoste, and by my God I haue leaped ouer a wall.
30 Gott, sein Weg ist vollkommen; Jehovas Wort ist geläutert; ein Schild ist er allen, die auf ihn trauen.
The way of God is vncorrupt: the worde of the Lord is tried in the fire: he is a shield to all that trust in him.
31 Denn wer ist Gott, außer Jehova? Und wer ein Fels, als nur unser Gott?
For who is God besides the Lord? and who is mightie saue our God?
32 Der Gott, der mich mit Kraft umgürtet und vollkommen macht meinen Weg;
God girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way vpright.
33 der meine Füße denen der Hindinnen gleich macht, und mich hinstellt auf meine Höhen;
He maketh my feete like hindes feete, and setteth me vpon mine high places.
34 der meine Hände den Streit lehrt, und meine Arme spannen den ehernen Bogen!
He teacheth mine hands to fight: so that a bowe of brasse is broken with mine armes.
35 Und du gabst mir den Schild deines Heils, und deine Rechte stützte mich, und deine Herablassung machte mich groß.
Thou hast also giuen me the shield of thy saluation, and thy right hand hath stayed me, and thy louing kindenes hath caused me to increase.
36 Du machtest Raum meinen Schritten unter mir, und meine Knöchel haben nicht gewankt.
Thou hast enlarged my steps vnder mee, and mine heeles haue not slid.
37 Meinen Feinden jagte ich nach und erreichte sie, und ich kehrte nicht um, bis sie aufgerieben waren.
I haue pursued mine enemies, and taken them, and haue not turned againe till I had consumed them.
38 Ich zerschmetterte sie, und sie vermochten nicht aufzustehen; sie fielen unter meine Füße.
I haue wounded them, that they were not able to rise: they are fallen vnder my feete.
39 Und du umgürtetest mich mit Kraft zum Streite, beugtest unter mich, die wider mich aufstanden.
For thou hast girded me with strength to battell: them, that rose against me, thou hast subdued vnder me.
40 Und du hast mir gegeben den Rücken meiner Feinde; und meine Hasser, ich vernichtete sie.
And thou hast giuen me the neckes of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.
41 Sie schrieen, und kein Retter war da zu Jehova, und er antwortete ihnen nicht.
They cryed but there was none to saue them, euen vnto the Lord, but hee answered them not.
42 Und ich zermalmte sie wie Staub vor dem Winde; wie Straßenkot schüttete ich sie aus.
Then I did beate them small as the dust before the winde: I did treade them flat as the clay in the streetes.
43 Du errettetest mich aus den Streitigkeiten des Volkes; du setztest mich zum Haupte der Nationen; ein Volk, das ich nicht kannte, dient mir.
Thou hast deliuered me from the contentions of the people: thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people, whom I haue not knowen, shall serue me.
44 Sowie ihr Ohr hörte, gehorchten sie mir; die Söhne der Fremde unterwarfen sich mir mit Schmeichelei.
As soone as they heare, they shall obey me: the strangers shall be in subiection to me.
45 Die Söhne der Fremde sanken hin und zitterten hervor aus ihren Schlössern.
Strangers shall shrinke away, and feare in their priuie chambers.
46 Jehova lebt, und gepriesen sei mein Fels! Und erhoben werde der Gott meines Heils!
Let the Lord liue, and blessed be my strength, and the God of my saluation be exalted.
47 Der Gott, der mir Rache gab und die Völker mir unterwarf,
It is God that giueth me power to auenge me, and subdueth the people vnder me.
48 der mich errettete von meinen Feinden. Ja, du erhöhtest mich über die, welche wider mich aufstanden; von dem Manne der Gewalttat befreitest du mich.
O my deliuerer from mine enemies, euen thou hast set mee vp from them, that rose against me: thou hast deliuered mee from the cruell man.
49 Darum, Jehova, will ich dich preisen unter den Nationen, und Psalmen singen deinem Namen,
Therefore I will prayse thee, O Lord, among the nations, and wil sing vnto thy Name.
50 Dich, der groß macht die Rettungen seines Königs, und Güte erweist seinem Gesalbten, David und seinem Samen ewiglich.
Great deliuerances giueth hee vnto his King, and sheweth mercie to his anoynted, euen to Dauid, and to his seede for euer.
