Matthieu 21
1 Lorsqu’ils approchèrent de Jérusalem et qu’ils furent venus à Bethphagé, près du mont des Oliviers, Jésus envoya deux disciples,
As Jesus and his disciples approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
2 Leur disant: Allez au village qui est devant vous, et soudain vous trouverez une ânesse attachée, et son ânon avec elle; déliez-les et amenez-les-moi.
saying to them, “Go into the next village, and you will immediately find a donkey tied up there, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me.
3 Et si quelqu’un vous dit quelque chose, répondez que le Seigneur en a besoin; et aussitôt il les laissera emmener.
If anyone says anything to you about that, you will say, 'The Lord has need of them,' and that person will immediately send them with you.”
4 Or tout cela fut fait, afin que s’accomplit la parole du prophète, disant:
Now this came about that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled. He said,
5 Dites à la fille de Sion: Voici que votre Roi vient à vous plein de douceur, monté sur une ânesse et sur l’ânon de celle qui est sous le joug.
“Tell the daughter of Zion, 'See, your King is coming to you, Humble and riding on a donkey— on a colt, the foal of a donkey.'”
6 S’en allant donc, les disciples firent comme Jésus leur avait commandé;
Then the disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them.
7 Ils amenèrent l’ânesse et l’ânon, mirent dessus leurs vêtements et l’y firent asseoir.
They brought the donkey and the colt and put their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat upon the cloaks.
8 La plus grande partie du peuple étendit ses vêtements le long de la route, d’autres coupaient des branches d’arbres et en jonchaient le chemin.
Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them in the road.
9 Or la foule qui précédait et celle qui suivait criaient, disant: Hosanna au fils de David: béni celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur! Hosanna au plus haut des cieux!
Then the crowds that went before Jesus and those that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
10 Lorsqu’il fut entré dans Jérusalem, toute la ville fut émue, demandant: Qui est celui-ci?
When Jesus had come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred and said, “Who is this?”
11 Et la multitude répondait: C’est Jésus, le Prophète de Nazareth en Galilée.
The crowds answered, “This is Jesus the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
12 Et Jésus entra dans le temple de Dieu, et chassa tous ceux qui vendaient et achetaient dans le temple; il renversa même les tables des changeurs et les sièges de ceux qui vendaient des colombes;
Then Jesus entered the temple. He cast out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and turned over the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.
13 Et il leur dit: Il est écrit: Ma maison sera appelée maison de prière; mais vous en avez fait une caverne de voleurs.
He said to them, “It is written, 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you make it a den of robbers.”
14 Et des aveugles et des boiteux s’approchèrent de lui dans le temple, et il les guérit.
Then the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.
15 Mais les princes des prêtres et les scribes, voyant les merveilles qu’il faisait et les enfants qui criaient dans le temple et disaient: Hosanna au fils de David, s’indignèrent,
But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the marvelous things that he did, and when they heard the children shouting in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they became very angry.
16 Et lui dirent: Entendez-vous ce que disent ceux-ci? Jésus leur répondit: Oui. N’avez-vous jamais lu: C’est de la bouche des enfants et de ceux qui sont à la mamelle, que vous avez tiré la louange la plus parfaite?
They said to him, “Do you hear what they are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes! But have you never read, 'Out of the mouths of little children and nursing infants you have prepared praise'?”
17 Et, les ayant quittés, il s’en alla hors de la ville à Béthanie et s’y arrêta.
Then Jesus left them and went out of the city to Bethany and spent the night there.
18 Le lendemain matin, comme il revenait à la ville, il eut faim.
Now in the morning as he returned to the city, he was hungry.
19 Or apercevant un figuier près du chemin, il s’en approcha; et n’y trouvant rien que des feuilles, il lui dit: Que jamais fruit ne naisse de toi désormais. Et à l’instant le figuier sécha. (aiōn g165)
Seeing a fig tree along the roadside, he went to it and found nothing on it except leaves. He said to it, “May there be no fruit from you ever again,” and immediately the fig tree withered. (aiōn g165)
20 Ce qu’ayant vu, les disciples s’étonnèrent, disant: Comment a-t-il séché sur-le-champ?
When the disciples saw it, they marveled and said, “How did the fig tree immediately wither away?”
21 Alors, Jésus prenant la parole, leur dit: En vérité, je vous dis: Si vous avez de la foi et que vous n’hésitiez point, non seulement vous ferez comme j’ai fait au figuier, mais même, si vous dites à cette montagne: Lève-toi et te jette dans la mer, cela se fera.
Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to this fig tree, but you will even say to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and it will be done.
22 Et tout ce que vous demanderez dans la prière avec foi, vous l’obtiendrez.
Whatever you ask for in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
23 Or, comme il vint dans le temple, les princes des prêtres et les anciens du peuple s’approchèrent de lui, tandis qu’il enseignait, et dirent: Par quelle autorité faites-vous ces choses? Et qui vous a donné ce pouvoir?
When Jesus had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching and said, “By what authority do you do these things, and who gave you this authority?”
24 Jésus répondant, leur dit: Je vous ferai, moi aussi, une demande; si vous y répondez, je vous dirai par quelle autorité je fais ces choses.
Jesus answered and said to them, “I also will ask you one question. If you tell me, I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
25 Le baptême de Jean, d’où était-il? du ciel ou des hommes? Mais eux pensaient en eux-mêmes, disant:
The baptism of John—from where did it come? From heaven or from men?” They discussed among themselves, saying, “If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say to us, 'Why then did you not believe him?'
26 Si nous répondons: Du ciel, il nous dira: Pourquoi donc n’y avez-vous pas cru! Et si nous répondons: Des hommes, nous avons à craindre le peuple; tous, en effet, tenaient Jean pour prophète.
But if we say, 'From men,' we fear the crowd, because they all view John as a prophet.”
27 Ainsi, répondant à Jésus, ils dirent: Nous ne savons. Et Jésus aussi leur répondit: Ni moi non plus je ne vous dirai par quelle autorité je fais ces choses.
Then they answered Jesus and said, “We do not know.” He also said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
28 Mais que vous en semble? Un homme avait deux fils; s’approchant du premier, il lui dit: Mon fils, va-t’en aujourd’hui travailler à ma vigne.
But what do you think? A man had two sons. He went to the first and said, 'Son, go work today in the vineyard.'
29 Celui-ci répondant, dit: Je ne veux pas. Mais après, touché de repentir, il y alla.
The son answered and said, 'I will not,' but afterward he changed his mind and went.
30 S’approchant ensuite de l’autre, il dit de même. Et celui-ci répondant dit: J’y vais. Seigneur, et il n’y alla point.
Then the man went to the second son and said the same thing. He answered and said, 'I will go, sir,' but he did not go.
31 Lequel des deux a fait la volonté du père? Ils lui dirent: Le premier. Jésus leur répliqua: En vérité je vous dis que les publicains et les femmes de mauvaise vie vous précéderont dans le royaume de Dieu.
Which of the two sons did his father's will?” They said, “The first one.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes will enter the kingdom of God before you do.
32 Car Jean est venu à vous dans la voie de la justice et vous n’avez pas cru en lui; mais les publicains et les femmes de mauvaise vie ont cru en lui; et vous, ayant vu cela, vous n’avez pas même eu de repentir ensuite, de manière à croire en lui.
For John came to you in the way of righteousness, but you did not believe him. But the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. But you, even when you saw this, you did not repent afterward and believe him.
33 Ecoutez une autre parabole: Il y avait un homme, père de famille, qui planta une vigne et l’entoura d’une haie, y creusa un pressoir, et bâtit une tour; il la loua ensuite à des vignerons, et partit pour un voyage.
Listen to another parable. There was a man, a landowner. He planted a vineyard, set a hedge about it, dug a winepress in it, built a watchtower, and rented it out to vine growers. Then he went into another country.
34 Or, lorsque le temps des fruits approcha, il envoya ses serviteurs aux vignerons, pour en recevoir les fruits.
When the time of the fruit harvest approached, he sent some servants to the vine growers to get his fruit.
35 Mais les vignerons s’étant saisis de ses serviteurs déchirèrent l’un de coups, tuèrent l’autre et en lapidèrent un autre.
But the vine growers took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned still another.
36 Il envoya encore d’autres serviteurs en plus grand nombre que les premiers, et ils leur firent pareillement.
Again, the owner sent other servants, more than the first, but the vine growers treated them in the same way.
37 En dernier lieu il leur envoya son fils, disant: Ils auront du respect pour mon fils.
After that, the owner sent his own son to them, saying, 'They will respect my son.'
38 Mais les vignerons voyant le fils dirent en eux-mêmes: Celui-ci est l’héritier; venez, tuons-le, et nous aurons son héritage.
But when the vine growers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take over the inheritance.'
39 Et après l’avoir pris, ils le jetèrent hors de la vigne, et le tuèrent.
So they took him, threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.
40 Lors donc que viendra le maître de la vigne, que fera-t-il à ces vignerons?
Now when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vine growers?”
41 Ils lui répondirent: Il fera mourir misérablement ces misérables, et il louera sa vigne à d’autres vignerons qui lui en rendront le fruit en son temps.
They said to him, “He will destroy those miserable men in the most severe way, and will then rent out the vineyard to other vine growers, men who will give him his share of crops at the harvest time.”
42 Jésus leur demanda: N’avez-vous jamais lu dans les Ecritures: La pierre rejetée par ceux qui bâtissaient, est devenue un sommet d’angle. Ceci est l’œuvre du Seigneur et elle est admirable à nos yeux?
Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected has been made the cornerstone. This was from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?
43 C’est pourquoi je vous dis que le royaume de Dieu vous sera ôté, et qu’il sera donné à un peuple qui en produira les fruits.
Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and will be given to a nation that produces its fruits.
44 Celui qui tombera sur cette pierre, se brisera; et celui sur qui elle tombera, elle l’écrasera.
Whoever falls on this stone will be broken to pieces. But anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.”
45 Or, lorsque les princes des prêtres et les pharisiens eurent entendu ses paraboles, ils comprirent que c’était d’eux qu’il parlait.
When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they understood he was speaking about them.
46 Et cherchant à se saisir de lui, ils craignirent le peuple, parce qu’il le regardait comme un prophète.
Seeking to arrest him, they were afraid of the crowd, because the people regarded him as a prophet.
