Esdras 2

1 Voici les fils de la province qui montèrent dentre les captifs qu’avait transportés à Babylone, Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, et qui retournèrent à Jérusalem et en Juda, chacun dans sa ville.

Now, these, are the sons of the province, who came up from among the captives of the exile, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon exiled to Babylon, —who came back unto Jerusalem and Judah, every one unto his own city;

2 Ceux qui vinrent avec Zorobabel et Josué sont: Néhémias, Saraïa, Rahélaïa, Mardochaï, Belsan, Mesphar, Béguaï, Réhum et Baana. Nombres des hommes du peuple d’Israël;

who came in with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai Rehum, Baanah, —the number of the men of the people of Israel: —

3 Les fils de Pharos, deux mille cent soixante-douze;

The sons of Parosh, two thousand one hundred and seventy-two;

4 Les fils de Séphatia, trois cent soixante-douze;

The sons of Shephatiah, three hundred and seventy-two;

5 Les fils d’Aréa, sept cent soixante-quinze;

The sons of Arah, seven hundred and seventy-five;

6 Les fils de Phahath-Moab, des fils de Josué: Joab, deux mille huit cent douze;

The sons of Pahath-moab, belonging to the sons of Jeshua, Joab, two thousand eight hundred and twelve;

7 Les fils d’Elam, mille deux cent cinquante-quatre;

The sons of Elam, a thousand two hundred and fifty-four;

8 Les fils de Zéthua, neuf cent quarante-cinq;

The sons of Zattu, nine hundred and forty-five;

9 Les fils de Zachaï, sept cent soixante;

The sons of Zaccai, seven hundred and sixty;

10 Les fils de Bani, six cent quarante-deux;

The sons of Bani, six hundred and forty-two;

11 Les fils de Bébaï, six cent vingt-trois:

12 Les fils d’Azgad, mille deux cent vingt-deux;

13 Les fils d’Adonicam, six cent soixante-six;

14 Les fils de Béguaï, deux mille cinquante-six;

15 Les fils d’Adin, quatre cent cinquante-quatre;

16 Les fils d’Ather, qui étaient d’Ezéchias, quatre-vingt-dix-huit;

The sons of Ater pertaining to Hezekiah, ninety-eight;

17 Les fils de Bésaï, trois cent vingt-trois;

The sons of Bezai, three hundred and twenty-three;

18 Les fils de Jora, cent douze;

The sons of Jorah, a hundred and twelve;

19 Les fils d’Hasum, deux cent vingt-trois;

The sons of Hashum, two hundred and twenty-three:

20 Les fils de Gebbar, quatre vingt-quinze;

The sons of Gibbar, ninety-five;

21 Les fils de Bethléhem, cent vingt-trois;

The sons of Bethlehem, a hundred and twenty-three;

22 Les hommes de Nétupha, cinquante-six;

The men of Netophah, fifty-six;

23 Les hommes d’Anathoth, cent vingt-huit;

The men of Anathoth, a hundred and twenty-eight;

24 Les fils d’Azmaveth, quarante-deux;

The sons of Azmaveth, forty-two;

25 Les fils de Cariathiarim, de Céphira et de Béroth, sept cent quarante-trois;

The sons of Kiriath-arim, Chephirah and Beeroth, seven hundred and forty-three;

26 Les fils de Rama et de Gabaa, six cent vingt et un;

The sons of Ramah and Geba, six hundred and twenty-one;

27 Les hommes de Machmas, cent vingt-deux;

The men of Michmas, a hundred and twenty-two:

28 Les hommes de Béthel et de Haï, deux cent vingt-trois;

The men of Bethel and Ai, two hundred and twenty-three;

29 Les fils de Nébo, cinquante-deux;

The sons of Nebo, fifty-two;

30 Les fils de Megbis, cent cinquante-six;

The sons of Magbish, a hundred and fifty-six;

31 Les fils d’un autre Elam, mille deux cent cinquante-quatre;

The sons of the other Elam, a thousand two hundred and fifty-four;

32 Les fils de Harim, trois cent vingt;

The sons of Harim, three hundred and twenty;

33 Les fils de Lod, de Hadid et d’Ono, sept cent vingt-cinq;

The sons of Lod, Hadid and Ono, seven hundred and twenty-five;

34 Les fils de Jéricho, trois cent quarante-cinq;

The sons of Jericho, three hundred and forty-five;

35 Les fils de Sénaa, trois mille six cent trente.

The sons of Senaah, three thousand and six hundred and thirty!

36 Les prêtres: Les fils de Jadaïa, dans la maison de Josué, neuf cent soixante-treize;

37 Les fils d’Emmer, mille cinquante-deux;

The sons of Immer, a thousand and fifty-two;

38 Les fils de Pheshur, mille deux cent quarante-sept;

The sons of Pashhur, a thousand two hundred and forty-seven;

39 Les fils de Harim, mille dix-sept.

40 Les Lévites: Les fils de Josué et de Cedmihel, fils d’Odovia, soixante-quatorze.

The singers, The sons of Asaph, a hundred and twenty-eight.

42 Les fils des portiers: Les fils de Sellum, les fils d’Ater, les fils de Telmon, les fils d’Accub, les fils de Hatitha, les fils de Sobaï, tous ensemble, cent trente-neuf.

The sons of the door-keepers, The sons of Shallum, the sons of Ater, the sons of Talmon, the sons of Akkub, the sons of Hatita, the sons of Shobai, —in all, a hundred and thirty-nine.

the sons of Giddel, the sons of Gahar, the sons of Reaiah;

the sons of Barkos, the sons of Sisera, the sons of Temah;

54 Les fils de Nasia, les fils de Hatipha,

the sons of Neziah, the sons of Hatipha.

55 Les fils des serviteurs de Salomon, les fils de Sotaï, les fils de Sophéret, les fils de Pharuda,

The Sons of the Servants of Solomon. The sons of Sotai, the sons of Hasso-phereth, the sons of Peruda;

56 Les fils de Jala, les fils de Dercon, les fils de Geddel,

the sons of Jaalah, the sons of Darkon, the sons of Giddel;

57 Les fils de Saphatia, les fils de Hatil, les fils de Phochéreth, qui étaient d’Asebaïm, les fils d’Ami;

the sons of Shephatiah, the sons of Hattil, the sons of Pochereth-hazzebaim, the sons of Ami.

58 Tous les Nathinéens et les fils des serviteurs de Salomon, trois cent quatre-vingt-douze.

All the Nethinim, and the Sons of the Servants of Solomon, were three hundred and ninety-two.

59 Et ceux qui montèrent de Thelmala, Thelharsa, Chérub, Adon et Emer, et qui ne purent faire connaître la maison de leurs pères et leur race, s’ils étaient d’Israël, sont:

And, these, were they who came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan, Immer; but they could not tell their ancestral house, nor their seed, whether, of Israel, they were:

60 Les fils de Dalaïa, les fils de Tobie, les fils de Nécoda, six cent cinquante-deux.

the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda, —six hundred and fifty-two.

61 Et d’entre les fils des prêtres: les fils de Hobia, les fils d’Accos, les fils de Berzellaï, qui prit parmi les filles de Berzellaï, le Galaadite, une femme, et fut appelé de leur nom;

And, of the sons of the priests, the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, —the sons of Barzillai, who took of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite to wife, and was called after their name.

62 Ceux-ci cherchèrent l’écrit de leur généalogie et ne le trouvèrent pas, et ils furent rejetés du sacerdoce.

These, sought their writing wherein they were registered, but they were not found, —so they were desecrated out of the priesthood;

63 Et Athersatha leur dit qu’ils ne mangeraient point de ce qui est très saint, jusqu’à ce qu’il s’élevât un prêtre instruit et parfait.

and the governor told them, that they must not eat of the most holy things, —until there should stand up a priest, with Lights and Perfections.

64 Toute la multitude, comme un seul homme, était du nombre de quarante-deux mille trois cent soixante,

All the gathered host together, was forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty;

65 Outre leurs serviteurs et servantes, qui étaient sept mille trois cent trente-sept; et parmi eux les chantres et les chanteuses étaient deux cents;

besides, their men-servants and their maid-servants who were these, seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven, —and there pertained to them, singing men and singing women, two hundred:

66 Leurs chevaux sept cent trente-six; leurs mulets, deux cent quarante-cinq;

their horses, were seven hundred and thirty-six, —their mules, two hundred and forty-five;

67 Leurs chameaux, quatre cent tente-cinq; leurs ânes, six mille sept cent vingt.

their camels, four hundred and thirty-five, —asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.

68 Et des princes des pères, étant entrés dans le temple du Seigneur, qui est à Jérusalem, firent spontanément les dons dans la maison de Dieu, pour la construire en son lieu.

And, a portion of the ancestral chiefs, when they came to the house of Yahweh which was in Jerusalem, offered voluntarily for the house of God, to set it up on its basis.

69 Ils donnèrent, selon leurs facultés, pour les dépenses de cet ouvrage, soixante et un mille solides d’or, et cinq mille mines d’argent, et cent vêtements sacerdotaux.

According to their ability, gave they unto the treasury of the work, of gold, sixty-one thousand drams, and, of silver, five thousand manehs, —and, tunics for priests, one hundred.

70 Les prêtres donc, les Lévites, ceux du peuple, les chantres, les portiers et les Nathinéens, habitèrent dans leurs villes, et tout Israël dans ses cités.

So the priests and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers and the doorkeepers and the Nethinim, took up their abode, in their cities, —and, all Israel, in their cities.
