Exode 13
1 Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, disant:
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
2 Consacre-moi tout premier né qui ouvre un sein parmi les enfants d’Israël, tant d’entre les hommes que d’entre les bêtes: car à moi sont toutes choses.
“Sanctify to me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel [God prevails], both of man and of animal. It is mine.”
3 Et Moïse dit au peuple: Souvenez-vous de ce jour auquel vous êtes sortis de l’Egypte et de la maison de servitude; car par une main puissante le Seigneur vous a retirés de ce lieu: vous ne mangerez donc point de pain fermenté.
Moses [Drawn out] said to the people, “Remember this day, in which you came out of Egypt [Abode of slavery], out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand Adonai brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.
4 Vous sortez aujourd’hui dans le mois des nouveaux grains.
Today you go out in the first month Aviv ·Ripening grain (of a new crop), 1·.
5 Et quand le Seigneur t’aura introduit dans la terre du Chananéen, de l’Héthéen, de l’Amorrhéen, de l’Hévéen et du Jébuséen, terre qu’il a juré à tes pères qu’il te donnerait, terre où coulent du lait et du miel, tu célébreras cette pratique sacrée en ce mois.
It shall be, when Adonai shall bring you into the land of the Canaanite [Descendant of Humbled], and the Hittite [Descendant of Trembling fear], and the Amorite [Descendants of Talkers], and the Hivite [Wicked], and the Jebusite [Descendants of Thresher], which he swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this aboda ·service· in this month.
6 Pendant sept jours tu te nourriras d’azymes, et le septième jour sera une solennité du Seigneur.
Seven days you shall eat matzah ·unleavened bread·, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to Adonai.”
7 Vous mangerez des azymes pendant sept jours; il ne paraîtra point de pain fermenté chez toi, ni dans tous tes confins.
Unleavened bread shall be eaten throughout the seven days; and no leavened bread shall be seen with you. No yeast shall be seen with you, within all your borders.
8 Et tu le raconteras à ton fils en ce jour-là, disant: Voilà ce qu’a fait pour moi le Seigneur, quand je suis sorti de l’Egypte.
You shall tell your son in that day, saying, “It is because of that which Adonai did for me when I came out of Egypt [Abode of slavery].”
9 Et ce sera comme un signe en ta main, et comme un monument devant tes yeux, et afin que la loi du Seigneur soit toujours en ta bouche; car c’est avec une main puissante que le Seigneur t’a retiré de l’Egypte.
It shall be for a sign to you on your hand, and for a memorial between your eyes, that Adonai’s Torah ·Teaching· may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand Adonai has brought you out of Egypt [Abode of slavery].
10 Tu observeras un culte de cette sorte au temps marqué d’année en année,
You shall therefore keep this regulation in its season from year to year.
11 Et lorsque le Seigneur t’aura introduit dans la terre du Chananéen, comme il l’a juré à toi à tes pères, et qu’il te l’aura donnée,
“It shall be, when Adonai shall bring you into the land of the Canaanite [Descendant of Humbled], as he swore to you and to your fathers, and shall give it you,
12 Tu sépareras pour le Seigneur tout ce qui ouvre un sein et ce qui est primitif dans tes troupeaux; tout ce que tu auras du sexe masculin, tu le consacreras au Seigneur.
that you shall set apart to Adonai all that opens the womb, and every firstborn which you have that comes from an animal. The males shall be Adonai’s.
13 Tu échangeras le premier-né de l’âne pour une brebis: que si tu ne le rachètes point, tu le tueras. Mais tout premier-né de l’homme d’entre tes fils, c’est avec de l’argent que tu le rachèteras.
Every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck; and you shall redeem all the firstborn of man among your sons.
14 Et quand ton fils t’interrogera demain, disant: Qu’est-ce que ceci? tu lui répondras: Par une main puissante le Seigneur nous a retirés de la terre d’Egypte, de la maison de servitude.
It shall be, when your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is this?’ that you shall tell him, ‘By strength of hand Adonai brought us out from Egypt [Abode of slavery], from the house of bondage.
15 Car comme Pharaon s’était endurci, et qu’il ne voulait pas nous laisser aller, le Seigneur tua tout premier-né dans la terre d’Egypte, depuis le premier-né de l’homme jusqu’au premier-né des bêtes: c’est pourquoi j’immole au Seigneur tout mâle qui ouvre un sein, et je rachète tous les premiers-nés de mes fils.
When Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, Adonai killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery], both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of animal. Therefore I sacrifice to Adonai all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.’
16 Ce sera donc comme un signe en ta main, et comme quelque chose de suspendu entre tes yeux, pour souvenir; parce que par une main puissante le Seigneur nous a retirés de l’Egypte.
It shall be for a sign on your hand, and for symbols between your eyes: for by strength of hand Adonai brought us out of Egypt [Abode of slavery].”
17 Or, quand Pharaon eut laissé aller le peuple. Dieu ne les conduisit point par le chemin de la terre des Philistins qui est voisine, pensant que peut-être il se repentirait, s’il voyait des guerres s’élever contre lui, et qu’il retournerait en Egypte.
When Pharaoh had let the people go, God didn’t lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines [To roll in dust (As an insult)], although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and they teshuvah ·completely return· to Egypt [Abode of slavery];”
18 Mais il leur fit faire un détour par la voie du désert, qui est près de la mer Rouge: ainsi les enfants d’Israël montèrent armés de la terre d’Egypte.
but God led the people around by the way of the wilderness by the Sea of Suf [Reed Sea]; and the children of Israel [God prevails] went up armed out of the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery].
19 Moïse emporta aussi avec lui les os de Joseph, parce que Joseph avait adjuré les enfants d’Israël, disant: Dieu vous visitera; emportez d’ici mes os avec vous.
Moses [Drawn out] took the bones of Joseph [May he add] with him, for he had made the children of Israel [God prevails] swear, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones away from here with you.”
20 Partis donc de Socoth, ils campèrent à Etham, à l’extrémité du désert.
They took their journey from Sukkot, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.
21 Or le Seigneur les précédait pour montrer la voie, le jour dans une colonne de nuée, et la nuit dans une colonne de feu; afin qu’il fût leur guide dans l’un et l’autre temps.
Adonai went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them on their way, and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, that they might go by day and by night:
22 Jamais la colonne de nuée ne disparut devant le peuple durant le jour, ni la colonne de feu durant la nuit.
the pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night, didn’t depart from before the people.
