Éphésiens 6
1 Enfants, obéissez à vos parents dans le Seigneur; car cela est juste.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 Honore ton père et ta mère (c’est le premier commandement fait avec une promesse),
“Honor your father and mother” (which is the first commandment with promise),
3 Afin que bien t’arrive, et que tu vives longtemps sur la terre.
“so that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
4 Et vous, pères, ne provoquez point vos enfants à la colère, mais élevez-les dans la discipline et la correction du Seigneur.
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger. Instead, raise them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
5 Serviteurs, obéissez à vos maîtres selon la chair, avec crainte et tremblement, dans la simplicité de votre cœur, comme au Christ même,
Slaves, be obedient to your human masters with deep respect and trembling, in the honesty of your heart. Be obedient to them as you would be obedient to Christ.
6 Les servant, non à l’œil, comme pour plaire aux hommes, mais comme des serviteurs du Christ, accomplissant de cœur la volonté de Dieu;
Be obedient not only when your masters are watching in order to please them. Instead, be obedient as slaves of Christ, who do the will of God from your heart.
7 Faisant votre service de bon gré, comme pour le Seigneur et non pour les hommes,
Serve with all your heart, as though you were serving the Lord and not people,
8 Sachant que chacun recevra du Seigneur la récompense de tout le bien qu’il aura fait, qu’il soit esclave ou libre.
because we know that for whatever good deed each person does, he will receive a reward from the Lord, whether he is slave or free.
9 Et vous, maîtres, faites de même envers eux, leur épargnant les menaces, sachant que le même Seigneur, le leur et le vôtre, est dans le ciel, et qu’il n’y a pas chez lui acception des personnes.
Masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them. You know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.
10 Du reste, mes frères, fortifiez-vous dans le Seigneur et dans la puissance de sa vertu.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
11 Revêtez-vous de l’armure de Dieu, afin de pouvoir tenir contre les embûches du diable;
Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the scheming plans of the devil.
12 Parce que nous n’avons point à lutter contre la chair et le sang, mais contre les princes et les puissances, contre les dominateurs de ce monde de ténèbres, contre les esprits de malice répandus dans l’air. (aiōn g165)
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (aiōn g165)
13 C’est pourquoi, prenez l’armure de Dieu, afin qu’étant munis de tout, vous puissiez, au jour mauvais, résister, et en toutes choses demeurer parfaits.
Therefore put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand in this time of evil, and after you have done everything, to stand firm.
14 Soyez donc fermes, ceignant vos reins de la vérité, et revêtant la cuirasse de la justice,
Stand, therefore, after you have put on the belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness.
15 Et chaussant vos pieds pour vous préparer à l’Evangile de la paix;
Then as shoes for your feet, put on the readiness to proclaim the gospel of peace.
16 Prenant surtout le bouclier de la foi, dans lequel vous puissiez éteindre tous les traits enflammés du malin.
In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, by which you will be able to put out all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17 Prenez aussi le casque du salut, et le glaive de l’Esprit (qui est la parole de Dieu),
And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 Priant en esprit en tout temps, par toute sorte de prières et de supplications, et dans le même esprit veillant en toute instance et supplication pour tous les saints;
With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit. To this end, always be watching with all perseverance, as you offer prayers for all the saints.
19 Et pour moi, afin que, lorsque j’ouvrirai ma bouche, des paroles me soient données pour annoncer avec assurance le mystère de l’Evangile,
And pray for me, that a message might be given to me when I open my mouth. Pray that I might make known with boldness the hidden truth about the gospel.
20 Dont j’exerce la légation dans les chaînes, et qu’ainsi j’ose en parler comme je dois.
It is for the gospel that I am an ambassador who is kept in chains, so that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.
21 Et pour que vous sachiez les circonstances où je me trouve, et ce que je fais, Tychique, notre frère, et fidèle ministre du Seigneur, vous apprendra toutes choses.
Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you may know how I am doing.
22 Je l’ai envoyé vers vous exprès pour que vous sachiez ce qui nous concerne, et qu’il console vos cœurs.
I have sent him to you for this very purpose, so that you may know how we are, and so that he may encourage your hearts.
23 Paix à nos frères et charité avec la foi, par Dieu le Père, et par le Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Que la grâce soit avec tous ceux qui aiment Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ dans l’incorruptibilité. Amen.
Grace be to all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an incorruptible love.
