2 Chroniques 23
1 Or, en la septième année, Joïada, plein d’un nouveau courage, prit les centurions; à savoir, Azarias fils de Jéroham, Ismahël fils de Johanan, Azarias fils d’Obed, Maasias fils d’Adaïas, et Elisaphat fils de Zéchri, et fit alliance avec eux;
And in the year seventh he strengthened himself Jehoiada and he took [the] commanders of the hundreds to Azariah [the] son of Jeroham and to Ishmael [the] son of Jehohanan and to Azariah [the] son of Obed and with Maaseiah [the] son of Adaiah and with Elishaphat [the] son of Zikri with himself in covenant.
2 Lesquels, parcourant la Judée, assemblèrent les Lévites de toutes les villes de Juda et les princes des familles d’Israël, puis ils vinrent à Jérusalem.
And they went around in Judah and they gathered the Levites from all [the] cities of Judah and [the] heads of the fathers of Israel and they came to Jerusalem.
3 Toute cette multitude fit donc un traité dans la maison de Dieu avec le roi, et Joïada leur dit: Voilà que le fils du roi régnera, comme l’a dit le Seigneur touchant les fils de David.
And it made all the assembly a covenant in [the] house of God with the king and he said to them here! [the] son of the king he will reign just as he spoke Yahweh on [the] sons of David.
4 Voici donc ce que vous ferez:
This [is] the thing which you will do the third [part] of you [who] come of the sabbath to the priests and to the Levites [will become] [the] gatekeepers of the thresholds.
5 Une troisième partie de vous, prêtres, Lévites et portiers, qui venez pour le jour du sabbat, sera aux portes; mais une troisième partie auprès du palais du roi, et une troisième à la porte qui est appelée du Fondement; quant à tout le reste du peuple, qu’il soit dans les parvis de la maison du Seigneur.
And the third [part] [will be] at [the] house of the king and the third [part] [will be] at [the] gate of the foundation and all the people [will be] in [the] courts of [the] house of Yahweh.
6 Que personne n’entre dans la maison du Seigneur, si ce n’est les prêtres et ceux qui font le service d’entre les Lévites: que ceux-là seulement entrent, parce qu’ils sont sanctifiés; et que tout le reste du peuple observe les veilles du Seigneur.
And may not anyone go [the] house of Yahweh that except the priests and those [who] are serving of the Levites they they will go for [are] holiness they and all the people they will keep [the] duty of Yahweh.
7 Mais que les Lévites entourent le roi, ayant chacun leurs armes (et si quelque autre entre dans le temple, qu’il soit tué), et qu’ils soient avec le roi, lorsqu’il entrera, et qu’il sortira.
And they will surround the Levites the king all around each man and weapons his in hand his and the [one who] comes into the house he will be put to death and be with the king when comes he and when goes out he.
8 Les Lévites donc et tout Juda firent selon tout ce que leur avait ordonné Joïada, le pontife; et ils prirent chacun les hommes qui étaient sous eux, et qui venaient, selon l’ordre du sabbat, avec ceux qui avaient accompli le sabbat, et qui devaient sortir; attendu que Joïada, le pontife, n’avait pas laissé aller les bandes qui, à chaque semaine, avaient coutume de se succéder.
And they did the Levites and all Judah according to all that he had commanded Jehoiada the priest and they took each men his [who] were coming of the sabbath with [who] were going out of the sabbath for not he dismissed Jehoiada the priest the divisions.
9 Et Joïada, le prêtre, donna aux centurions les lances, les boucliers et les peltes du roi David, qu’il avait consacrés dans la maison du Seigneur.
And he gave Jehoiada the priest to [the] commanders of the hundreds the spears and the shields and the shields which [had belonged] to the king David which [were] [the] house of God.
10 Et il plaça toute la multitude de ceux qui tenaient des sabres depuis le côté droit du temple jusqu’au côté gauche du temple, devant l’autel et le temple, autour du roi.
And he stationed all the people and each - weapon his [was] in hand his from [the] side of the house south to [the] side of the house north to the altar and to the house at the king all around.
11 Ensuite, ils amenèrent le fils du roi, et ils mirent sur lui le diadème et le témoignage; c’est-à-dire ils mirent en sa main la loi pour qu’il la tînt, et l’établirent roi: de plus, Joïada, le pontife, et ses fils l’oignirent, lui souhaitèrent du bien et dirent: Vive le roi!
And they brought out [the] son of the king and they put on him the crown and the testimony and they made king him and they anointed him Jehoiada and sons his and they said may he live the king.
12 Lorsque Athalie eut entendu cela; savoir, la voix de ceux qui accouraient et louaient le roi, elle entra vers le peuple dans le temple du Seigneur.
And she heard Athaliah [the] sound of the people who were running and who were praising the king and she came to the people [the] house of Yahweh.
13 Et, lorsqu’elle eut vu le roi qui était sur son estrade, à l’entrée, les princes, les troupes autour de lui, tout le peuple de la terre se réjouissant, sonnant des trompettes et faisant retentir des instruments de divers genre, et qu’elle eut entendu la voix de ceux qui louaient le roi, elle déchira ses vêtements, et dit: Trahison! trahison!
And she saw and there! the king [was] standing at pillar his at the entrance and the officials and the trumpets [were] with the king and all [the] people of the land [was] joyful and [was] giving a blast on trumpets and the singers with [the] instruments of song [were] leading to praise and she tore Athaliah clothes her and she said treason treason.
14 Or le pontife Joïada, étant sorti vers les centurions et les princes de l’armée, leur dit: Emmenez-la hors de l’enceinte du temple, et qu’elle soit tuée dehors par le glaive. Et le prêtre ordonna qu’elle ne fût pas tuée dans la maison du Seigneur.
And he sent out Jehoiada the priest [the] commanders of the hundreds - [the] officers of the army and he said to them bring out her to from between the ranks and the [one who] goes after her he will be put to death with the sword for he had said the priest not you must put to death her [the] house of Yahweh.
15 Ils mirent donc leurs mains sur son cou; et lorsqu’elle fut entrée dans la porte des chevaux de la maison du roi, ils la tuèrent là.
And they put to her hands and she went to [the] entrance of [the] gate of the horses [the] house of the king and they put to death her there.
16 Or Joïada fit une alliance entre lui, tout le peuple et le roi, afin qu’ils fussent le peuple du Seigneur.
And he made Jehoiada a covenant between himself and between all the people and between the king to become a people of Yahweh.
17 C’est pourquoi tout le peuple entra dans la maison de Baal, et ils la détruisirent; ils brisèrent aussi ses autels et ses simulacres: et Mathan lui-même, le prêtre de Baal, ils le tuèrent devant l’autel.
And they went all the people [the] house of Baal and they pulled down it and altars its and images its they broke and Mattan [the] priest of Baal they killed before the altars.
18 Joïada établit aussi des préposés dans la maison de Seigneur, sous la main des prêtres et des Lévites, que David distribua dans la maison du Seigneur, afin que l’on offrît des holocaustes au Seigneur, comme il est écrit dans la loi de Moïse, avec joie et avec des cantiques, selon les prescriptions de David.
And he put Jehoiada [the] oversight of [the] house of Yahweh in [the] hand of the priests the Levites whom he had assigned David over [the] house of Yahweh to offer up [the] burnt offerings of Yahweh according to [what] is written in [the] law of Moses with joy and with song on [the] hands of David.
19 Et il établit encore les portiers aux portes de la maison du Seigneur, afin qu’il n’y entrât personne d’impur en quoi que ce fût.
And he stationed the gatekeepers at [the] gates of [the] house of Yahweh and not he came a [person] unclean to any matter.
20 Et il prit les centurions, les hommes les plus braves, les princes du peuple, et tout le bas peuple du pays; et ils firent descendre le roi de la maison du Seigneur, puis entrer par la porte supérieure dans la maison du roi; et ils le placèrent sur le trône royal.
And he took [the] commanders of the hundreds and the nobles and the rulers over the people and - all [the] people of the land and he brought down the king from [the] house of Yahweh and they came in [the] middle of [the] gate upper [the] house of the king and they made sit the king on [the] throne of royalty.
21 Alors tout le peuple du pays se réjouit, et la ville se reposa: or Athalie fut tuée par le glaive.
And they rejoiced all [the] people of the land and the city it was at peace and Athaliah they had put to death with the sword.
