1 Mes petits enfants, je vous écris ceci pour que vous ne péchiez point. Cependant, si quelqu’un pèche, nous avons pour avocat auprès du Père, Jésus-Christ le Juste.
Mi litle sones, Y write to you these thingis, that ye synnen not. But if ony man synneth, we han an aduocat anentis the fadir,
2 Et il est lui-même propitiation pour nos péchés; non-seulement pour les nôtres, mais aussi pour ceux de tout le monde.
Jhesu Crist, and he is the foryyuenes for oure synnes; and not oneli for oure synnes, but also for the synnes of al the world.
3 Or ce qui nous assure que nous le connaissons, c’est si nous gardons ses commandements.
And in this thing we witen, that we knowen hym, if we kepen hise comaundementis.
4 Celui qui dit le connaître et ne garde pas ses commandements est un menteur, et la vérité n’est pas en lui.
He that seith that he knowith God, and kepith not hise comaundementis, is a liere, and trewthe is not in hym.
5 Mais celui qui garde sa parole a vraiment en lui l’amour parfait de Dieu; et c’est par là que nous connaissons que nous sommes en lui.
But the charite of God is perfit verili in hym, that kepith his word. In this thing we witen, that we ben in hym, if we ben perfit in hym.
6 Celui qui dit qu’il demeure en lui doit marcher lui-même comme il a marché.
He that seith, that he dwellith in hym, he owith for to walke, as he walkide.
7 Mes bien-aimés, ce n’est pas un commandement nouveau que je vous écris, mais le commandement ancien que vous avez reçu dès le commencement; et ce commandement ancien, c’est la parole que vous avez entendue.
Moost dere britheren, Y write to you, not a newe maundement, but the elde maundement, that ye hadden fro the bigynnyng. The elde maundement is the word, that ye herden.
8 Cependant je vous écris un commandement nouveau, qui est vrai en lui et en vous, parce que les ténèbres sont passées, et que déjà luit la vraie lumière.
Eftsoone Y write to you a newe maundement, that is trewe bothe in hym and in you; for derknessis ben passid, and veri liyt schyneth now.
9 Celui qui dit être dans la lumière, et qui hait son frère, est encore dans les ténèbres.
He that seith, that he is in liyt, and hatith his brother, is in derknesse yit.
10 Celui qui aime son frère demeure dans la lumière, et le scandale n’est point en lui.
He that loueth his brothir, dwellith in liyt, and sclaundre is not in hym.
11 Mais celui qui hait son frère est dans les ténèbres, marche dans les ténèbres, et ne sait où il va, parce que les ténèbres ont aveuglé ses yeux.
But he that hatith his brother, is in derknessis, and wandrith in derknessis, and woot not whidir he goith; for derknessis han blindid hise iyen.
12 Je vous écris, petits enfants, parce que vos péchés vous sont remis en son nom.
Litle sones, Y write to you, that youre synnes ben foryouun to you for his name.
13 Je vous écris, pères, parce que vous avez connu celui qui est dès le commencement. Je vous écris, jeunes gens, parce que vous avez vaincu le malin.
Fadris, Y write to you, for ye han knowun hym, that is fro the bigynnyng. Yonge men, Y write to you, for ye han ouercomun the wickid.
14 Je vous écris, enfants, parce que vous avez connu le Père. Je vous écris, jeunes hommes, parce que vous êtes forts, que la parole de Dieu demeure en vous, et que vous avez vaincu le malin.
Y write to you, yonge children, for ye han knowe the fadir. Y write to you, britheren, for ye han knowen hym, that is fro the bigynnyng. Y write to you, yonge men, for ye ben stronge, and the word of God dwellith in you, and ye han ouercomun the wickid.
15 N’aimez point le monde ni ce qui est dans le monde. Si quelqu’un aime le monde, la charité du Père n’est pas en lui.
Nyle ye loue the world, ne tho thingis that ben in the world. If ony man loueth the world, the charite of the fader is not in hym.
16 Parce que tout ce qui est dans le monde est convoitise de la chair, convoitise des yeux, orgueil de la vie; or cela ne vient pas du Père, mais du monde.
For al thing that is in the world, is coueitise of fleisch, and coueitise of iyen, and pride of lijf, which is not of the fadir, but it is of the world.
17 Or le monde passe, et sa concupiscence aussi; mais celui qui fait la volonté de Dieu demeure éternellement. (aiōn g165)
And the world schal passe, and the coueitise of it; but he that doith the wille of God, dwellith with outen ende. (aiōn g165)
18 Mes petits enfants, cette heure-ci est la dernière heure; et comme vous avez entendu que l’Antéchrist vient, il y a maintenant beaucoup d’Antéchrists: d’où nous savons que c’est la dernière heure.
My litle sones, the laste our is; and as ye han herd, that antecrist cometh, now many antecristis ben maad; wherfor we witen, that it is the laste our.
19 Ils sont sortis d’avec nous, mais ils n’étaient pas de nous; car s’ils avaient été de nous, ils seraient certainement demeurés avec nous.
Thei wenten forth fro vs, but thei weren not of vs; for if thei hadden be of vs, thei hadden dwelte with vs; but that thei be knowun, that thei ben not of vs.
20 Pour vous, vous avez reçu du Saint l’onction, et vous connaissez toutes choses.
But ye han anointyng of the Hooli Goost, and knowen alle thingis.
21 Aussi je ne vous ai pas écrit comme si vous ignoriez la vérité, mais comme la connaissant, et sachant qu’aucun mensonge ne vient de la vérité.
Y wroot not to you, as to men that knowen not treuthe, but as to men that knowen it, and for ech leesing is not of treuthe.
22 Qui est le menteur? sinon celui qui nie que Jésus soit le Christ? Celui-là est l’Antéchrist, qui nie le Père et le Fils.
Who is a liere, but this that denyeth that Jhesu is not Crist? This is antecrist, that denyeth the fadir, and the sone.
23 Quiconque nie le Fils ne reconnaît pas le Père; qui confesse le Fils reconnaît aussi le Père.
So ech that denyeth the sone, hath not the fadir; but he that knowlechith the sone, hath also the fadir.
24 Pour vous, que ce que vous avez entendu dès le commencement demeure en vous, vous demeurerez, vous aussi, dans le Fils et dans le Père.
That thing that ye herden at the bigynnyng, dwelle it in you; for if that thing dwellith in you, which ye herden at the bigynnyng, ye schulen dwelle in the sone and in the fadir.
And this is the biheeste, that he bihiyte to vs euerlastinge lijf. (aiōnios g166)
26 Voilà ce que je vous écris à l’égard de ceux qui vous séduisent.
Y wroot these thingis to you, of hem that disseyuen you,
27 Pour vous, que l’onction que vous avez reçue de lui demeure en vous. Vous n’avez pas besoin que quelqu’un vous instruise; mais ce que son onction vous enseigne de toutes choses est vrai, et n’est pas un mensonge. Ainsi, comme il vous l’a enseigné, demeurez en lui.
and that the anoyntyng which ye resseyueden of hym, dwelle in you. And ye han not nede, that ony man teche you, but as his anoyntyng techith you of alle thingis, and it is trewe, and it is not leesyng; and as he tauyte you, dwelle ye in hym.
28 Oui, mes petits enfants, demeurez en lui, afin que lorsqu’il apparaîtra, nous ayons confiance, et que nous ne soyons pas confondus à son avènement.
And now, ye litle sones, dwelle ye in hym, that whanne he schal appere, we haue a trist, and be not confoundid of hym in his comyng.
29 Si vous savez qu’il est juste, sachez aussi que quiconque pratique la justice, est né de lui.
If ye witen that he is iust, wite ye that also ech that doith riytwisnesse, is borun of hym.
