1 Corinthiens 11

1 Soyez mes imitateurs, comme moi je le suis du Christ.

Be ye then imitators of me, as I also am of Christ.

2 Je vous loue, mes frères, de ce qu’en toutes choses vous vous souvenez de moi, et gardez mes préceptes tels que je vous les ai donnés.

Now I commend you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

3 Or je veux que vous sachiez que le chef de tout homme est le Christ; le chef de la femme, l’homme; et le chef du Christ, Dieu.

But I would have you know that Christ is the head of every man; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

4 Tout homme qui prie ou prophétise la tête couverte déshonore sa tête;

Every man praying or prophesying, having a veil on his head, dishonoureth Him who is his head.

5 Et toute femme qui prie ou prophétise la tête découverte déshonore sa tête; car c’est comme si elle était rasée.

But every woman praying or prophesying with her head unveiled dishonoureth man her head; for it is even all one as if she were shaved.

6 C’est pourquoi si une femme ne se voile pas, qu’elle soit tondue. Or s’il est honteux à une femme d’être tondue ou rasée, qu’elle voile sa tête.

For if a woman be not covered, she may as well be shorn: but if it be shameful to a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered.

7 Pour l’homme, il ne doit pas voiler sa tête, parce qu’il est l’image et la gloire de Dieu; mais la femme est la gloire de l’homme.

For a man indeed ought not to have his head covered, he being the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

8 Car l’homme n’a pas été tiré de la femme, mais la femme de l’homme.

For the man was not of the woman; but the woman was taken out of the man:

9 Et l’homme n’a pas été créé pour la femme, mais la femme pour l’homme.

nor was the man created for the sake of the woman, but the woman for the man.

10 C’est pourquoi la femme doit avoir une puissance sur sa tête, à cause des anges.

For this reason ought the woman to have power on her head, because of the angels.

11 Cependant, ni l’homme n’est point sans la femme, ni la femme sans l’homme, dans le Seigneur.

Nevertheless, neither is the man without the woman, nor the woman without the man, in the Lord.

12 Car, comme la femme a été tirée de l’homme, ainsi l’homme est par la femme: mais tout vient de Dieu.

For as the woman was originally from the man, so also is the man by the woman: but all things are from God.

13 Jugez vous-mêmes: Sied-il à la femme de prier Dieu sans être voilée?

Judge in yourselves, Is it decent for a woman to pray to God uncovered?

14 La nature même ne vous apprend-elle pas que si un homme entretient sa chevelure, c’est une ignominie pour lui?

Doth not even nature itself teach you, that if a man have long hair, it is a disgrace to him?

15 Que si, au contraire, la femme soigne sa chevelure, c’est une gloire pour elle, parce que les cheveux lui ont été donnés pour voile?

but if a woman have long hair it is a glory to her; because the hair was given her as for a veil.

16 Si quelqu’un paraît aimer à contester, pour nous, ce n’est point notre coutume ni celle de l’Eglise de Dieu.

But if any one is pleased to contend for the contrary, I answer, We have no such custom, nor any of the churches of God.

17 Voici ce que je vous fais observer maintenant, sans l’approuver, c’est que vos assemblées se font, non point à votre avantage, mais à votre préjudice.

But whilst I am declaring this, I do not commend you, that ye assemble together not for the better, but for the worse.

18 Premièrement, j’entends dire que quand vous vous assemblez dans l’Eglise, il y a des scissions parmi vous, et je le crois en partie.

For first when ye come together in the church, I hear there are divisions among you, and I partly believe it.

19 Car il faut qu’il y ait même des hérésies, afin qu’on découvre ceux d’entre vous qui sont éprouvés.

For there must be even heresies among you, that they who are approved may be made manifest among you.

20 Lors donc que vous vous réunissez, ce n’est plus manger la cène du Seigneur.

When therefore ye thus assemble together, this is not eating the Lord's supper:

21 Car chacun anticipe le temps de prendre son repas. Et ainsi l’un souffre de la faim et l’autre regorge.

for in eating every one takes his own supper first; and one is hungry, and another is glutted.

22 N’avez-vous pas des maisons pour y manger et boire? ou méprisez-vous l’Eglise de Dieu, et voulez-vous faire honte à ceux qui n’ont rien? Que vous dirai-je? Vous en louerai-je? non je ne vous en loue point.

What! have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or do ye despise the church of God, and shame those that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

23 Car j’ai reçu moi-même du Seigneur ce que je vous ai aussi transmis; que le Seigneur Jésus, la nuit où il était livré, prit du pain,

For I received from the Lord, that which I also delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread:

24 Et rendant grâces, le rompit et dit: Prenez et mangez; ceci est mon corps qui sera livré pour vous: faites ceci en mémoire de moi.

and gave thanks, and brake it, and said, "Take and eat; this is my body, which is going to be broken for you: this do in remembrance of me."

25 De même il prit le calice après qu’il eut soupé, disant: Ce calice est le nouveau testament en mon sang; faites ceci, toutes les fois que vous boirez, en mémoire de moi.

And in the same manner He took the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant ratified in my blood: this do, as often as ye drink of it, in remembrance of me."

26 Car toutes les fois que vous mangerez ce pain et boirez ce calice, vous annoncerez la mort du Seigneur jusqu’à ce qu’il vienne.

As often then as ye eat of this bread, and drink of this cup, ye commemorate the Lord's death till he come.

27 C’est pourquoi quiconque mangera ce pain ou boira le calice du Seigneur indignement sera coupable du corps et du sang du Seigneur.

So that whosoever eateth this bread, or drinketh of the cup of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord.

28 Que l’homme donc s’éprouve lui-même, et qu’il mange ainsi de ce pain et boive de ce calice.

But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of this bread and drink of this cup:

29 Car quiconque en mange et en boit indignement, mange et boit son jugement, ne discernant point le corps du Seigneur.

for he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh judgement against himself, not distinguishing the Lord's body.

30 C’est pour cela qu’il y a parmi vous beaucoup d’infirmes et de languissants, et que beaucoup s’endorment.

For this many among you are weak and infirm, and several are fallen asleep.

31 Que si nous nous jugions nous-mêmes, nous ne serions certainement point jugés.

If then we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged:

32 Et lorsque nous sommes jugés, c’est par le Seigneur que nous sommes repris, afin que nous ne soyons pas condamnés avec ce monde.

but when judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

33 C’est pourquoi, mes frères, quand vous vous assemblez pour manger, attendez-vous les uns les autres.

Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, wait for one another:

34 Si quelqu’un a faim, qu’il mange dans sa maison, afin que vous ne vous assembliez pas pour votre condamnation. Quant aux autres choses, lorsque je serai venu, je les réglerai.

and if any one be hungry, let him eat at home, that ye may not come together to your condemnation. And as to other things, I will set them in order when I come.
