Hébreux 2
1 C'est pourquoi nous devons nous attacher d'autant plus à ce que nous avons entendu, de peur que nous ne soyons entraînés à notre perte.
Therefore we ought to pay greater attention to the things that were heard, lest perhaps we drift away.
2 En effet, si la parole annoncée par des anges a eu son accomplissement, si toute transgression, toute désobéissance, a reçu sa juste rétribution,
For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,
3 comment échapperons-nous, si nous négligeons un si grand salut? — salut qui, annoncé d'abord par le Seigneur, nous a été confirmé par ceux qui l'avaient entendu,
how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation—which at the first having been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard,
4 Dieu appuyant leur témoignage par des signes, des prodiges et toutes sortes de miracles, et par les dons du Saint-Esprit, qu'il a distribués selon sa volonté.
God also testifying with them, both by signs and wonders, by various works of power, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?
5 En effet, ce n'est pas à des anges qu'il a soumis le monde à venir dont nous parlons.
For he did not subject the world to come, of which we speak, to angels.
6 Mais quelqu'un a rendu quelque part ce témoignage: «Qu'est-ce que l'homme, pour que tu te souviennes de lui? ou le fils de l'homme, pour que tu en prennes soin?
But one has somewhere testified, saying, “What is man, that you think of him? Or the son of man, that you care for him?
7 Tu l'as fait, pour un peu de temps, inférieur aux anges; tu l'as couronné de gloire et d'honneur;
You made him a little lower than the angels. You crowned him with glory and honor.
8 tu as mis toutes choses sous ses pieds» En lui soumettant ainsi toutes choses, Dieu n'a rien laissé qui ne lui fût soumis; cependant, nous ne voyons pas encore que toutes choses lui soient soumises.
You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that he subjected all things to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him.
9 Mais ce Jésus, qui a été fait, pour un peu de temps, inférieur aux anges, nous le voyons, à cause de la mort qu'il a soufferte, couronné de gloire et d'honneur. C'est ainsi que, par la grâce de Dieu, il a goûté la mort pour tous.
But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for everyone.
10 En effet, il convenait que Celui pour qui et par qui sont toutes choses, voulant amener beaucoup de fils à la gloire, élevât à la perfection, par les souffrances, l'auteur et le chef de leur salut.
For it became him, for whom are all things and through whom are all things, in bringing many children to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
11 Car celui qui sanctifie et ceux qui sont sanctifiés, sont tous issus du même Père. C'est pourquoi, il ne dédaigne pas de donner à ceux-ci le nom de frères,
For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers,
12 quand il dit: «J'annoncerai ton nom à mes frères; je te louerai au milieu de l'assemblée.»
saying, “I will declare your name to my brothers. Among the congregation I will sing your praise.”
13 Il dit ailleurs: «Je me confierai en lui.» Et encore: «Me voici, moi et les enfants que Dieu m'a donnés.»
Again, “I will put my trust in him.” Again, “Behold, here I am with the children whom God has given me.”
14 Ainsi donc, puisque les enfants participent au sang et à la chair, il y a aussi participé lui-même, afin que, par sa mort, il anéantît la puissance de celui qui avait l'empire de la mort, je veux dire le Diable,
Since then the children have shared in flesh and blood, he also himself in the same way partook of the same, that through death he might bring to nothing him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
15 et qu'il délivrât tous ceux qui, par la crainte de la mort, étaient toute leur vie retenus dans la servitude.
and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 Car ce n'est pas aux anges, assurément, qu'il vient en aide, c'est à la postérité d'Abraham.
For most certainly, he does not give help to angels, but he gives help to the offspring of Abraham.
17 Aussi fallait-il qu'il fût rendu semblable en toutes choses à ses frères, afin d'être, auprès de Dieu, un souverain sacrificateur miséricordieux et fidèle, pour expier les péchés du peuple.
Therefore he was obligated in all things to be made like his brothers, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people.
18 En effet, comme il a souffert lui-même et qu'il a été tenté, il peut secourir ceux qui sont tentés.
For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
