2 Chroniques 11
1 Et Roboam rentré à Jérusalem assembla la maison de Juda et de Benjamin, cent quatre-vingt mille hommes d'élite faisant le service militaire pour entrer en guerre avec Israël, afin de reconquérir le royaume à Roboam.
And when Rehoboam was come to Ierusalem, he gathered of the house of Iudah and Beniamin nine score thousande chosen men of warre to fight against Israel, and to bring the kingdome againe to Rehoboam.
2 Alors la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Semaïa, homme de Dieu, en ces termes:
But the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
3 Parle à Roboam, fils de Salomon, roi de Juda, et à tous les Israélites de Juda et de Benjamin, en ces termes: Ainsi parle l'Éternel:
Speake vnto Rehoboam, the sonne of Salomon King of Iudah, and to all Israel that are in Iudah, and Beniamin, saying,
4 Ne marchez pas et ne vous battez pas contre vos frères, rentrez, chacun dans sa demeure; car c'est de par Moi que cette chose a eu lieu. Et ils obéirent aux paroles de l'Éternel, et renoncèrent à la campagne contre Jéroboam.
Thus sayth the Lord, Ye shall not goe vp, nor fight against your brethren: returne euery man to his house: for this thing is done of me. They obeyed therfore the word of the Lord, and returned from going against Ieroboam.
5 Et Roboam résidait à Jérusalem, et il édifia des villes en forteresses dans Juda,
And Rehoboam dwelt in Ierusalem, and buylt strong cities in Iudah.
6 et il éleva Bethléhem et Eitam et Thékôa
Hee buylt also Beth-lehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
7 et Bethtsur et Socho et Adullam
And Beth-zur, and Shoco, and Adullam,
8 et Gath et Marésa et Ziph
And Gath, and Maresha, and Ziph,
9 et Adoraïm et Lachis et Azéca
And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
10 et Tsorea et Ajalon et Hébron situées dans Juda et Benjamin, en villes fortes.
And Zorah, and Aialon, and Hebron, which were in Iudah and Beniamin, strong cities.
11 Et il donna de la force aux remparts et y plaça des commandants et des provisions de vivres, et d'huile et de vin,
And he repaired the strong holdes and put captaines in them, and store of vitaile, and oyle and wine.
12 et dans chaque ville des boucliers et des lances, et les rendit très fortes. Et à lui étaient Juda et Benjamin.
And in all cities he put shieldes and speares, and made them exceeding strong: so Iudah and Beniamin were his.
13 Et les Prêtres et les Lévites qui étaient dans tout Israël, vinrent de tout son territoire, se ranger de son côté.
And the Priests and the Leuites that were in all Israel, resorted vnto him out of all their coastes.
14 Car les Lévites abandonnèrent leurs aires et leurs propriétés et passèrent en Juda et à Jérusalem, parce que Jéroboam et ses fils les chassèrent du sacerdoce de l'Éternel,
For the Leuites left their suburbes and their possession, and came to Iudah and to Ierusalem: for Ieroboam and his sonnes had cast them out from ministring in the Priestes office vnto the Lord.
15 et il s'institua des prêtres pour les tertres et les boucs et les veaux qu'il avait fabriqués.
And he ordeyned him Priests for the hie places, and for the deuils and for the calues which he had made.
16 Et à leur suite, de toutes les Tribus d'Israël ceux qui portaient leur cœur à chercher l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, vinrent à Jérusalem pour sacrifier à l'Éternel, Dieu de leurs pères.
And after the Leuites there came to Ierusalem of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their heartes to seeke the Lord God of Israel, to offer vnto the Lord God of their fathers.
17 Et ils renforcèrent le royaume de Juda, et affermirent Roboam, fils de Salomon, pendant trois ans. Car ils suivirent les errements de David et de Salomon, pendant trois ans.
So they strengthened the kingdome of Iudah, and made Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon mightie, three yeere long: for three yeere they walked in in the way of Dauid and Salomon.
18 Et Roboam prit pour sa femme Mahelath, fille de Jerimoth, fils de David et d'Abihaïl, fille d'Eliab, fils d'Isaï.
And Rehoboam tooke him Mahalath ye daughter of Ierimoth the sonne of Dauid to wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the sonne of Ishai,
19 Et elle lui enfanta des fils, Jeüs et Semaria et Zaham.
Which bare him sonnes Ieush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
20 Et après il épousa Maacha, fille d'Absalom, et elle lui enfanta Abia et Atthaï et Ziza et Selomith.
And after her he tooke Maakah ye daughter of Absalom which bare him Abiiah, and Atthai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
21 Et Roboam aimait Maacha, fille d'Absalom, plus que toutes ses femmes et concubines; car il avait pris dix-huit femmes et soixante concubines, et il engendra vingt-huit fils et soixante filles.
And Rehoboam loued Maakah ye daughter of Absalom aboue all his wiues and his concubines: for he tooke eighteene wiues, and three score concubines, and begate eyght and twentie sonnes, and three score daughters.
22 Et Roboam constitua comme chef Abia, fils de Maacha, comme prince entre ses frères, car c'était en vue de le faire roi.
And Rehoboam made Abiiah the sonne of Maakah the chiefe ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him King.
23 Et il agit prudemment et distribua de ses fils dans toutes les terres de Juda et de Benjamin, dans toutes les villes fortifiées et leur fournit des denrées en abondance, et fit pour eux la demande d'une multitude de femmes.
And he taught him: and dispersed all his sonnes throughout all the countreis of Iudah and Beniamin vnto euery strong citie: and hee gaue them aboundance of vitaile, and desired many wiues.
