Proverbes 5
1 Mon fils, sois attentif à ma sagesse, incline ton oreille à ma prudence;
My son, give attention to my wisdom; let your ear be turned to my teaching:
2 Afin que tu conserves la réflexion, et que tes lèvres gardent la connaissance.
So that you may be ruled by a wise purpose, and your lips may keep knowledge.
3 Car les lèvres de l'étrangère distillent le miel, et son palais est plus doux que l'huile.
For honey is dropping from the lips of the strange woman, and her mouth is smoother than oil;
4 Mais ce qui en provient est amer comme de l'absinthe, et perçant comme une épée à deux tranchants.
But her end is bitter as wormwood, and sharp as a two-edged sword;
Her feet go down to death, and her steps to the underworld; (Sheol h7585)
6 Elle ne considère pas le chemin de la vie; ses voies s'égarent, elle ne sait où.
She never keeps her mind on the road of life; her ways are uncertain, she has no knowledge.
7 Maintenant donc, mes enfants, écoutez-moi; et ne vous détournez point des paroles de ma bouche.
Give ear to me then, my sons, and do not put away my words from you.
8 Éloigne ton chemin d'elle, et n'approche point de l'entrée de sa maison;
Go far away from her, do not come near the door of her house;
9 De peur que tu ne donnes ton honneur à d'autres, et tes années à un homme cruel;
For fear that you may give your honour to others, and your wealth to strange men:
10 De peur que les étrangers ne se rassasient de ta fortune, et que ce que tu auras acquis par ton travail ne passe dans une maison étrangère;
And strange men may be full of your wealth, and the fruit of your work go to the house of others;
11 Et que tu ne rugisses quand tu seras près de ta fin, quand ta chair et ton corps seront consumés,
And you will be full of grief at the end of your life, when your flesh and your body are wasted;
12 Et que tu ne dises: Comment ai-je haï l'instruction, et comment mon cœur a-t-il dédaigné les réprimandes?
And you will say, How was teaching hated by me, and my heart put no value on training;
13 Comment n'ai-je point obéi à la voix de ceux qui m'instruisaient, et n'ai-je point incliné mon oreille vers ceux qui m'enseignaient?
I did not give attention to the voice of my teachers, my ear was not turned to those who were guiding me!
14 Peu s'en est fallu que je n'aie été plongé dans tous les maux, au milieu du peuple et de l'assemblée.
I was in almost all evil in the company of the people.
15 Bois des eaux de ta citerne, et des ruisseaux de ton puits.
Let water from your store and not that of others be your drink, and running water from your fountain.
16 Tes fontaines doivent-elles se répandre dehors, et tes ruisseaux d'eau sur les places publiques?
Let not your springs be flowing in the streets, or your streams of water in the open places.
17 Qu'ils soient à toi seul, et non aux étrangers avec toi.
Let them be for yourself only, not for other men with you.
18 Que ta source soit bénie; et réjouis-toi de la femme de ta jeunesse,
Let blessing be on your fountain; have joy in the wife of your early years.
19 Comme d'une biche aimable et d'une chèvre gracieuse; que ses caresses te réjouissent en tout temps, et sois continuellement épris de son amour.
As a loving hind and a gentle doe, let her breasts ever give you rapture; let your passion at all times be moved by her love.
20 Et pourquoi, mon fils, t'égarerais-tu après une autre, et embrasserais-tu le sein d'une étrangère?
Why let yourself, my son, go out of the way with a strange woman, and take another woman in your arms?
21 Car les voies de l'homme sont devant les yeux de l'Éternel, et il pèse toutes ses démarches.
For a man's ways are before the eyes of the Lord, and he puts all his goings in the scales.
22 Le méchant sera pris dans ses iniquités, et il sera retenu dans les cordes de son péché.
The evil-doer will be taken in the net of his crimes, and prisoned in the cords of his sin.
23 Il mourra, faute d'instruction, et il ira errant par la grandeur de sa folie.
He will come to his end for need of teaching; he is so foolish that he will go wandering from the right way.
