Psaumes 80
1 Au chef des chantres. Sur les Chochanim, Edouth. Psaume d’Assaph. Pasteur d’Israël, prête l’oreille, toi qui mènes Joseph comme un troupeau! Révèle-toi dans ta splendeur, toi qui trônes sur les Chérubins!
To the chief Musician. On Shoshannim-Eduth. Of Asaph. A Psalm. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that sittest [between] the cherubim, shine forth.
2 Aux regards d’Ephraïm, Benjamin et Manassé, déploie ta puissance, et marche à notre secours!
Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up thy strength, and come to our deliverance.
3 O Dieu, régénère-nous, fais luire ta face et nous serons sauvés!
O God, restore us; and cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
4 Eternel, Dieu-Cebaot! Jusques à quand accueilleras-tu avec colère la prière de ton peuple?
Jehovah, God of hosts, how long will thine anger smoke against the prayer of thy people?
5 Tu leur fais manger un pain trempé de pleurs, tu les abreuves d’un déluge de larmes.
Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in large measure:
6 Tu fais de nous un brandon de discorde pour nos voisins, et nos ennemis se livrent à leurs moqueries.
Thou hast made us a strife unto our neighbours, and our enemies mock among themselves.
7 O Dieu-Cebaot, régénère-nous, fais luire ta face et nous serons sauvés!
Restore us, O God of hosts; and cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
8 Tu as fait émigrer une vigne de l’Egypte, et expulsé des nations pour la replanter.
Thou broughtest a vine out of Egypt; thou didst cast out the nations, and plant it:
9 Tu as fait place nette devant elle; aussi elle jeta de profondes racines, et s’étendit sur le pays.
Thou preparedst space before it, and it took deep root, and filled the land;
10 Les montagnes furent couvertes de son ombrage, ses branches égalèrent les cèdres de Dieu.
The mountains were covered with its shadow, and the branches thereof were [like] cedars of God;
11 Elle poussa ses sarments jusqu’à la mer, jusqu’au Fleuve ses rejetons.
It sent out its boughs unto the sea, and its shoots unto the river.
12 Pourquoi as-tu démoli ses clôtures, si bien que tous les passants la dépouillent,
Why hast thou broken down its fences, so that all who pass by the way do pluck it?
13 que le sanglier de la forêt la mutile, et qu’elle sert de pâture à ce qui se meut dans les champs?
The boar out of the forest doth waste it, and the beast of the field doth feed off it.
14 O Dieu-Cébaot! Reviens de grâce! Du haut du Ciel regarde et vois; prends sous ta protection cette vigne,
O God of hosts, return, we beseech thee; look down from the heavens, and behold, and visit this vine;
15 ces ceps que ta droite a mis en terre, cette plantation que tu avais voulue si vigoureuse.
Even the stock which thy right hand hath planted, and the young plant thou madest strong for thyself.
16 La voilà consumée par le feu, mise en pièces: sous la colère menaçante de ta face, tout périt!
It is burned with fire, it is cut down; they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
17 Oh! que ta protection s’étende sur l’homme élu par ta droite, sur le fils de l’homme que tu avais rendu fort en ton honneur!
Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou hast made strong for thyself.
18 Nous ne nous éloignerons plus de toi: ranime notre vie, et nous invoquerons ton nom.
So will we not go back from thee. Revive us, and we will call upon thy name.
19 O Eternel, Dieu-Cebaot, régénère-nous, fais luire ta face et nous serons sauvés!
Restore us, O Jehovah, God of hosts; cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
