2 Samuel 23
1 Voici le dernier discours de David: Parole de David, fils de Jessé, parole de l’homme haut placé, de l’élu du Dieu de Jacob, du chantre aimable d’Israël:
These also be the last wordes of Dauid, Dauid the sonne of Ishai saith, euen the man who was set vp on hie, the Anointed of the God of Iacob, and the sweete singer of Israel saith,
2 L’Esprit du Seigneur a parlé par ma bouche, son verbe repose sur ma langue.
The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his worde was in my tongue.
3 Il a dit, le Dieu d’Israël, Il a prononcé à mon sujet, le Rocher d’Israël: "Qui domine sur les hommes doit être juste, gouverner dans la crainte de Dieu.
The God of Israel spake to me, ye strength of Israel saide, Thou shalt beare rule ouer men, being iust, and ruling in the feare of God.
4 Quand le soleil brille, éclairant le matin un matin sans nuages par ses rayons et par la pluie la verdure sort de la terre…
Euen as the morning light when the sunne riseth, the morning, I say, without cloudes, so shall mine house be, and not as the grasse of the earth is by the bright raine.
5 Ma maison n’est-elle pas ainsi avec Dieu? Aussi m’a-t-il assuré une alliance perpétuelle, alliance bien ordonnée et bien gardée; ne fait-il pas germer mon salut et l’objet de tous mes désirs?
For so shall not mine house be with God: for he hath made with me an euerlasting couenant, perfite in all pointes, and sure: therefore all mine health and whole desire is, that he will not make it growe so.
6 Les pervers sont tous comme des épines qu’on évite, qu’on ne saisit point avec la main;
But the wicked shalbe euery one as thornes thrust away, because they can not be taken with handes.
7 Si quelqu’un y touche, il s’arme de fer ou du bois d’une lance: c’est par le feu qu’il faut les détruire sur place.
But the man that shall touch them, must be defensed with yron, or with the shaft of a speare: and they shall be burnt with fire in the same place.
8 Voici les noms des vaillants guerriers de David: Yocheb-Bachébeth, le Tahkemonite, chef de la garde, le même qui, en une seule rencontre, tua huit cents hommes avec sa lance.
These be the names of the mightie men whome Dauid had. He that sate in the seate of wisedome, being chiefe of the princes, was Adino of Ezni, he slewe eight hundreth at one time.
9 Après lui, Eléazar, fils de Dodo, fils d’Ahohi, l’un des trois vaillants compagnons de David, qui bravèrent les Philistins rassemblés là pour la bataille, quand les Israélites battirent en retraite;
And after him was Eleazar the sonne of Dodo, the sonne of Ahohi, one of the three worthies with Dauid, when they defied the Philistims gathered there to battel, when the men of Israel were gone vp.
10 lui s’élança et abattit des Philistins jusqu’à ce que sa main fût engourdie et comme collée à son épée. Ce jour-là, le Seigneur procura une grande victoire au peuple, qui revint derrière son chef, mais pour piller.
He arose and smote the Philistims vntill his hande was wearie, and his hande claue vnto the sworde: and the Lord gaue great victorie the same day, and the people returned after him onely to spoyle.
11 Après lui, Chamma, fils d’Aghé, le Hararite. Les Philistins s’étaient rassemblés en corps d’armée. Là se trouvait une pièce de terre pleine de lentilles, et le peuple fuyait devant les Philistins.
After him was Shammah the sonne of Age the Hararite: for the Philistims assembled at a towne, where was a piece of a fielde full of lentils, and the people fled from the Philistims.
12 Mais lui, il prit position au milieu du champ, le défendit et battit les Philistins; le Seigneur opéra ainsi une grande délivrance.
But he stoode in the middes of the fielde, and defended it, and slewe the Philistims: so the Lord gaue great victorie.
13 Trois des trente chefs descendirent un jour, au temps de la moisson, et arrivèrent près de David, dans la caverne d’Adoullam un corps de Philistins se trouvait campé dans la vallée de Rephaïm.
Afterward three of the thirtie captaines went downe, and came to Dauid in the haruest time vnto the caue of Adullam, and the hoste of the Philistims pitched in the valley of Rephaim.
14 David était alors dans la forteresse, et les Philistins avaient un avant-poste à Bethléem.
And Dauid was then in an holde, and the garison of ye Philistims was then in Beth-lehem.
15 David eut un désir et dit: "Ah! Si on pouvait me faire boire de l’eau de la citerne qui est à la porte de Bethléem!"
And Dauid longed, and said, Oh, that one would giue me to drinke of the water of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate.
16 Les trois guerriers s’ouvrirent un passage par le camp des Philistins, puisèrent de l’eau à la citerne qui est à la porte de Bethléem et l’apportèrent à David; mais celui-ci ne voulut pas la boire et en fit une libation à l’Eternel,
The the three mightie brake into the host of the Philistims, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem that was by the gate, and tooke and brought it to Dauid, who woulde not drinke thereof, but powred it for an offring vnto ye Lord,
17 en disant: "Dieu me préserve de faire pareille chose! N’Est-ce pas le sang de ces hommes qui sont allés là au péril de leur vie?" Il refusa donc de boire. Voilà ce que firent ces trois guerriers.
And said, O Lord, be it farre from me, that I should doe this. Is not this the blood of the men that went in ieopardie of their liues? therefore he woulde not drinke it. These things did these three mightie men.
18 Puis Abisaï, frère de Joab, fils de Cerouya, le chef des Trois: il brandit un jour sa lance sur trois cents ennemis qu’il immola, et se fit un nom parmi les Trois.
And Abishai the brother of Ioab, the sonne of Zeruiah, was chiefe among the three, and he lifted vp his speare against three hundreth, and slewe them, and he had the name among the three.
19 Il fut plus estimé que les Trente, car il devint leur chef, cependant il n’arriva point jusqu’aux Trois.
For he was most excellent of the three, and was their captaine, but he attained not vnto the first three.
20 Puis Benaïahou, fils de Joïada, d’un vaillant aux nombreux exploits, originaire de Kabceël; ce fut lui qui triompha des deux Ariel de Moab; ce fut lui aussi qui descendit et tua un lion dans une fosse par un jour de neige.
And Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada the sonne of a valiant man, which had done many actes, and was of Kabzeel, slewe two strong men of Moab: he went downe also, and slewe a lyon in the middes of a pit in the time of snowe.
21 Il tua aussi un Egyptien, homme de grande mine, et, dans la main de l’Egyptien, il y avait une lance: il descendit vers lui avec un bâton, et il arracha la lance de la main de l’Egyptien et le tua avec sa lance.
And he slewe an Egyptian a man of great stature, and the Egyptian had a speare in his hande: but he went downe to him with a staffe, and plucked the speare out of the Egyptians hand, and slewe him with his owne speare.
22 Voilà ce que fit Benaïahou, fils de Joïada, renommé parmi les trois héros.
These things did Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and had the name among the three worthies.
23 Il fut plus estimé que les Trente, mais il n’arriva pas jusqu’aux Trois. David l’admit dans son conseil.
He was honourable among thirtie, but he atteined not to the first three: and Dauid made him of his counsell.
24 Assahel, frère de Joab, fut l’un des Trente. Puis Elhanan, fils de Dodo, de Bethléem;
Asahel the brother of Ioab was one of the thirtie: Elhanan the sonne of Dodo of Beth-lehem:
25 Chamma, le Harodite; Elika, le Harodite
Shammah the Harodite: Elika ye Harodite:
26 Héléç, le Paltite; Ira, fils d’Ikkech, de Tekoa;
Helez the Paltite: Ira the sonne of Ikkesh the Tekoite:
27 Abiézer, d’Anatot; Mebounnaï, le Houchatite;
Abiezer the Anethothite: Mebunnai the Husathite:
28 Çalmôn, l’Ahohite; Maharaï, de Netofa;
Zalmon an Ahohite: Maharai the Netophathite:
29 Hêleb, fils de Baana, de Netofa; Ittaï, fils de Ribaï, de Ghibea des Benjamites;
Heleb the sonne of Baanah a Netophathite: Ittai the sonne of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Beniamin:
30 Benaïahou, de Piratôn; Hiddaï, de Nahalë-Gaach;
Benaiah the Pirathonite: Hiddai of the riuer of Gaash:
31 Abi-Albôn, l’Arbatite; Azmaveth, le Barhoumite;
Abi-albon the Arbathite: Azmaueth the Barhumite:
32 Elyahba, le Chaalbonite; des fils de Yachên: Jonathan;
Elihaba the Shaalbonite: of the sonnes of Iashen, Ionathan:
33 Chamma, le Hararite; Ahiam, fils de Charar, l’Ararite;
Shammah the Hararite: Ahiam the sonne of Sharar the Hamrite:
34 Elifélet, fils d’Ahasbaï, fils du Maakhatite; Eliam, fils d’Ahitofel, de Ghilo;
Eliphelet the sonne of Ahasbai the sonne of Maachathi: Eliam the sonne of Ahithophel the Gilonite:
35 Heçraï, le Carmélite; Paaraï, l’Arbite;
Hezrai the Carmelite: Paarai the Arbite:
36 Yigal, fils de Nathan, de Çoba; Bâni, le Gadite;
Igal the sonne of Nathan of Zobah: Bani the Gadite:
37 Célek, l’Ammonite; Naharaï, le Beêrotite, écuyer de Joab, fils de Cerouya;
Zelek the Ammonite: Naharai the Becrothite, the armour bearer of Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah:
38 Ira, le Yithrite; Garêb, le Yithrite
Ira the Ithrite: Gareb the Ithrite:
39 Urie, le Héthéen. Total: trente-sept.
Uriiah the Hittite, thirtie and seuen in all.
