1 Samuel 19
1 Alors Saül proposa à son fils Jonathan et à tous ses serviteurs de faire mourir David. Mais Jonathan, fils de Saül, avait beaucoup d’amitié pour David.
Then Saul spake to Ionathan his sonne, and to all his seruantes, that they shoulde kill Dauid: but Ionathan Sauls sonne had a great fauour to Dauid.
2 Et il annonça la chose à David, en disant: "Saül, mon père, cherche à te faire mourir. Tiens-toi donc dès demain sur tes gardes, dérobe-toi aux regards et reste caché.
And Ionathan told Dauid, saying, Saul my father goeth about to slay thee: nowe therefore, I pray thee, take heede vnto thy selfe vnto the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thy selfe.
3 Moi, je sortirai et j’accompagnerai mon père dans le champ où tu seras, je parlerai pour toi à mon père, et je te ferai part de ce que j’aurai observé".
And I will go out, and stand by my father in the fielde where thou art, and will commune with my father of thee, and I will see what he sayth, and will tell thee.
4 Jonathan parla donc en faveur de David à Saül, son père, et il lui dit: "Que le roi ne se rende pas coupable à l’égard de David, son serviteur, car lui ne t’a manqué en rien, et sa manière d’agir est extrêmement profitable pour toi.
And Ionathan spake good of Dauid vnto Saul his father, and said vnto him, Let not the King sinne against his seruat, against Dauid: for he hath not sinned against thee, but his works haue bene to thee very good.
5 Au péril de sa propre vie, il a frappé le Philistin, et Dieu a donné ainsi une grande victoire à tout Israël; tu l’as vu et t’en es réjoui. Pourquoi donc te rendre coupable de l’effusion du sang innocent, en faisant mourir David sans motif?"
For he did put his life in daunger, and slew the Philistim, and the Lord wrought a great saluation for al Israel: thou sawest it, and thou reioycedst: wherefore then wilt thou sinne against innocent blood, and slay Dauid without a cause?
6 Saül, déférant à la voix de Jonathan, fit ce serment: "Par le Dieu vivant! Il ne sera pas mis à mort."
Then Saul hearkened vnto the voyce of Ionathan, and Saul sware, As the Lord liueth, he shall not dye.
7 Alors Jonathan manda David et lui fit part de tout cet entretien; puis il l’introduisit auprès de Saül, et il se tint devant lui comme par le passé.
So Ionathan called Dauid, and Ionathan shewed him all those words, and Ionathan brought Dauid to Saul, and hee was in his presence as in times past.
8 La guerre ayant recommencé, David se mit en campagne, combattit les Philistins, leur infligea une grande défaite et les mit en fuite.
Againe the warre began, and Dauid went out and fought with the Philistims, and slew them with a great slaughter, and they fled from him.
9 Le mauvais esprit suscité de Dieu s’empara de Saül; il était assis dans sa maison, sa lance à la main, tandis que David pinçait les cordes.
And the euill spirit of the Lord was vpon Saul, as hee sate in his house hauing his speare in his hand, and Dauid played with his hand.
10 Saül chercha à frapper David, de sa lance, contre le mur; mais David se déroba au coup de Saül, dont la lance atteignit le mur. David prit la fuite et s’échappa, cette nuit même.
And Saul intended to smite Dauid to the wall with the speare: but hee turned aside out of Sauls presence, and he smote the speare against the wall: but Dauid fled, and escaped the same night.
11 Saül envoya des émissaires à la maison de David, pour le surveiller et le tuer au matin. David en fut informé par Mikhal, sa femme, qui ajouta: "Si tu ne te sauves pas cette nuit, demain tu seras mis à mort."
Saul also sent messengers vnto Dauids house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal Dauids wife told it him, saying, If thou saue not thy selfe this night, to morowe thou shalt be slayne.
12 Mikhal fit descendre David par la fenêtre; il s’enfuit et se mit en sûreté.
So Michal let Dauid downe through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.
13 Mikhal prit les terafim, qu’elle plaça dans le lit, mit au chevet le coussin de poil de chèvre et jeta un drap par-dessus.
Then Michal tooke an image, and layde it in the bed, and put a pillow stuffed with goates heare vnder the head of it, and couered it with a cloth.
14 Saül ayant envoyé des émissaires pour s’emparer de David, elle leur dit: "Il est malade".
And when Saul sent messengers to take Dauid, she sayd, He is sicke.
15 Alors Saül donna mission à ces gens d’aller voir David, en ajoutant: "Amenez-le-moi dans son lit, pour que je le fasse mourir".
And Saul sent the messengers againe to see Dauid, saying, Bring him to me in the bed, that I may slay him.
16 Les envoyés entrèrent, et voici que les terafim étaient dans le lit, et le coussin de poil de chèvre au chevet.
And when the messengers were come in, behold, an image was in the bed, with a pillow of goates heare vnder the head of it.
17 Saül dit à Mikhal: "Pourquoi m’as-tu trompé de la sorte, et as-tu favorisé la fuite de mon ennemi?" Mikhal répondit à Saül: "C’Est lui qui m’a dit: Laisse-moi partir ou je te tuerai."
And Saul said vnto Michal, Why hast thou mocked me so, and sent away mine enemie, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said vnto me, Let me go, or els I will kill thee.
18 David, ayant donc pris la fuite pour être en sûreté, se rendit chez Samuel, à Rama, et l’informa de tout ce que lui avait fait Saül; Il s’en alla avec Samuel, et ils s’établirent à Naïot.
So Dauid fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him: and he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth.
19 On le rapporta à Saül, en disant: "David se trouve à Naïot, près de Rama."
But one tolde Saul, saying, Beholde, Dauid is at Naioth in Ramah.
20 Saül envoya des émissaires pour s’emparer de David. Comme ils virent le groupe des prophètes qui prophétisaient, et Samuel debout à leur tête, les envoyés de Saül furent saisis de l’esprit divin et ils prophétisèrent, eux aussi.
And Saul sent messengers to take Dauid: and when they sawe a company of Prophets prophecying, and Samuel standing as appoynted ouer them, the Spirit of God fell vpon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophecied.
21 Saül, informé, envoya d’autres émissaires, qui prophétisèrent également; il en envoya d’autres une troisième fois, ils prophétisèrent à leur tour.
And when it was tolde Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophecied likewise: againe Saul sent the third messengers, and they prophecied also.
22 Alors il alla lui-même à Rama. Parvenu à la grande citerne près de Sëkhou, il demanda où étaient Samuel et David; on répondit: "A Naïot, près de Rama."
Then went he himselfe to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu, and he asked, and sayd, Where are Samuel and Dauid? and one sayd, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.
23 Il se dirigea vers Naïot, près de Rama; l’esprit de Dieu le saisit à son tour, et il alla prophétisant jusqu’à son arrivée à Naïot, près de Rama.
And he went thither, euen to Naioth in Ramah, and the Spirit of God came vpon him also, and he went prophecying vntill hee came to Naioth in Ramah.
24 Là, il se dépouilla, lui aussi, de ses vêtements, prophétisa aussi devant Samuel, et resta couché, ainsi dévêtu, tout ce jour et toute la nuit. De là ce dicton: "Saül aussi est donc parmi les prophètes!"
And he stript off his clothes, and he prophesied also before Samuel, and fell downe naked all that day and all that night: therefore they say, Is Saul also among the Prophets?
