2 Rois 8
1 Elisée parla à la femme dont il avait fait revivre l'enfant, en ces termes: « Lève-toi, va-t-en, toi et ta famille, et séjourne où tu pourras; car Yahweh a appelé la famine, et elle vient en effet sur le pays pour sept années. »
Then spake Elisha vnto the woman, whose sonne he had restored to life, saying, Vp, and goe, thou, and thine house, and soiourne where thou canst soiourne: for the Lord hath called for a famine, and it commeth also vpon the land seuen yeeres.
2 La femme, s'étant levée, fit selon la parole de l'homme de Dieu: elle s'en alla, elle et sa famille, et séjourna sept ans au pays des Philistins.
And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God, and went both shee and her housholde and soiourned in the lande of the Philistims seuen yeeres.
3 Au bout des sept ans, la femme revint du pays des Philistins et alla implorer le roi au sujet de sa maison et de son champ.
And at the seuen yeeres ende, the woman returned out of the lande of the Philistims, and went out to call vpon the King for her house and for her land.
4 Le roi s'entretenait avec Giézi, serviteur de l'homme de Dieu, en disant: « Raconte-moi, je te prie, toutes les grandes choses qu'Elisée a faites. »
And the King talked with Gehazi the seruant of the man of God, saying, Tell mee, I pray thee, all the great actes, that Elisha hath done.
5 Pendant que le serviteur racontait au roi comment son maître avait rendu la vie à un mort, voici que la femme dont Elisée avait fait revivre le fils se mit à implorer le roi au sujet de sa maison et de son champ. Et Giézi dit: « O roi mon seigneur, voici la femme et voici son fils qu'Elisée a rendu à la vie. »
And as he told the King, howe he had restored one dead to life, behold, the woman, whose sonne he had raised to life, called vpon the King for her house and for her land. Then Gehazi sayd, My lorde, O King, this is the woman, and this is her sonne, whom Elisha restored to life.
6 Le roi interrogea la femme, qui lui fit le récit; et le roi lui donna un eunuque, en disant: « Fais restituer tout ce qui lui appartient, avec tous les revenus du champ, depuis le jour où elle a quitté le pays jusqu'à présent. »
And when the King asked the woman, shee told him: so the King appoynted her an Eunuch, saying, Restore thou all that are hers, and all the fruites of her landes since the day shee left the land, euen vntill this time.
7 Elisée se rendit à Damas; Benhadad, roi de Syrie, était malade, et on l'informa, en disant: « l'homme de Dieu est arrivé ici. »
Then Elisha came to Damascus, and Ben-hadad the King of Aram was sicke, and one told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.
8 Le roi dit à Hazaël: « Prends avec toi un présent, et va au-devant de l'homme de Dieu; consulte par lui Yahweh, en disant: Survivrai-je à cette maladie? »
And the king sayd vnto Hazael, Take a present in thine hande, and goe meete the man of God, that thou mayest inquire of ye Lord by him, saying, Shall I recouer of this disease?
9 Hazaël alla au-devant d'Elisée. Il avait pris avec lui un présent, de tout ce qu'il y avait de meilleur à Damas, la charge de quarante chameaux. Lorsqu'il fut arrivé, il se présenta devant Elisée en disant: « Ton fils Benhadad, roi de Syrie, m'envoie vers toi pour dire: Survivrai-je à cette maladie? »
So Hazael went to meete him, and tooke the present in his hand, and of euery good thing of Damascus, euen the burden of fourtie camels, and came and stood before him, and sayde, Thy sonne Ben-hadad King of Aram hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recouer of this disease?
10 Elisée lui répondit: « Va, dis-lui: Sûrement tu survivras. Mais Yahweh m'a fait voir que sûrement il mourra. »
And Elisha sayd to him, Goe, and say vnto him, Thou shalt recouer: howbeit the Lord hath shewed me, that he shall surely dye.
11 L'homme de Dieu arrêta son regard sur Hazaël et le fixa jusqu'à le faire rougir; et l'homme de Dieu pleura.
And hee looked vpon him stedfastly, till Hazael was ashamed, and the man of God wept.
12 Hazaël dit: « Pourquoi mon seigneur pleure-t-il? » Et Elisée répondit: « Parce que je sais le mal que tu feras aux enfants d'Israël: tu livreras aux flammes leurs villes fortes, tu tueras avec l'épée leurs jeunes gens, tu écraseras leurs petits enfants et tu fendras le ventre à leurs femmes enceintes. »
And Hazael sayde, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I knowe the euill that thou shalt do vnto the children of Israel: for their strong cities shalt thou set on fire, and their yong men shalt thou slay with the sworde, and shalt dash their infantes against the stones, and rent in pieces their women with child.
13 Hazaël dit: « Mais qu'est donc ton serviteur, un chien, pour faire de si grandes choses? » Elisée répondit: « Yahweh m'a fait voir que tu seras roi de Syrie. »
Then Hazael said, What? is thy seruant a dog, that I should doe this great thing? And Elisha answered, The Lord hath shewed mee, that thou shalt be King of Aram.
14 Hazaël, ayant quitté Elisée, revint auprès de son maître, qui lui dit: « Que t'a dit Elisée? » Il répondit: « Il m'a dit: Sûrement tu survivras. »
So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, What saide Elisha to thee? And he answered, Hee tolde mee that thou shouldest recouer.
15 Le lendemain, Hazaël prit une couverture et, l'ayant plongée dans l'eau, il l'étendit sur le visage du roi, qui mourut. Et Hazaël régna à sa place.
And on the morow he tooke a thick cloth and dipt in it water, and spread it on his face, and hee dyed: and Hazael reigned in his stead.
16 La cinquième année de Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Israël, Josaphat étant encore roi de Juda, Joram, fils de Josaphat, roi de Juda, régna.
Now in the fift yere of Ioram ye sonne of Ahab King of Israel, and of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, Iehoram the sonne of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah began to reigne.
17 Il avait trente-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem.
He was two and thirtie yere olde, when he began to reigne: and hee reigned eight yeere in Ierusalem.
18 Il marcha dans la voie des rois d'Israël, comme avait fait la maison d'Achab, car il avait pour femme une fille d'Achab, et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh.
And hee walked in the wayes of the Kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife, and hee did euill in the sight of the Lord.
19 Mais Yahweh ne voulut pas détruire Juda, à cause de David, son serviteur, selon la promesse qu'il lui avait faite de lui donner toujours une lampe parmi ses fils.
Yet the Lord would not destroy Iudah, for Dauid his seruants sake, as he had promised him to giue him a light, and to his children for euer.
20 De son temps Edom s'affranchit de la domination de Juda et se donna un roi.
In those dayes Edom rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudah, and made a King ouer themselues.
21 Joram passa à Séïra avec tous les chars; s'étant levé de nuit, il battit les Edomites qui l'entouraient et les chefs des chars, et le peuple s'enfuit dans ses tentes.
Therefore Ioram went to Zair, and all his charets with him, and he arose by night, and smote the Edomites which were about him with the captains of the charets, and the people fled into their tents.
22 Edom s'affranchit de la domination de Juda, jusqu'à ce jour. Lobna s'affranchit aussi dans le même temps.
So Edom rebelled from vnder the hand of Iudah vnto this day. then Libnah rebelled at that same time.
23 Le reste des actes de Joram, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques de Juda?
Concerning the rest of the actes of Ioram and all that hee did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
24 Joram se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David; et Ochozias, son fils, régna à sa place.
And Ioram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid. And Ahaziah his sonne reigned in his stead.
25 La douzième année de Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Israël, régna Ochozias, fils de Joram, roi de Juda.
In the twelft yere of Ioram the sonne of Ahab King of Israel did Ahaziah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah begin to reigne.
26 Ochozias avait vingt-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna un an à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Athalie, fille d'Amri, roi d'Israël.
Two and twentie yeere olde was Ahaziah when he began to reigne, and he reigned one yere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri King of Israel.
27 Il marcha dans la voie de la maison d'Achab, et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh, comme la maison d'Achab, car il était gendre de la maison d'Achab.
And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did euill in the sight of the Lord, like the house of Ahab: for hee was the sonne in law of the house of Ahab.
28 Il alla avec Joram, fils d'Achab, combattre Hazaël, roi de Syrie, à Ramoth-en-Galaad. Les Syriens blessèrent Joram;
And he went with Ioram the sonne of Ahab to warre against Hazael King of Aram in Ramoth Gilead, and the Aramites smote Ioram.
29 le roi Joram s'en retourna pour se faire guérir à Jezrahel des blessures que les Syriens lui avaient faites à Ramoth, lorsqu'il se battait contre Hazaël, roi de Syrie. Ochozias, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, descendit pour voir Joram, fils d'Achab, à Jezrahel, parce qu'il était malade.
And King Ioram returned to bee healed in Izreel of the wounds which ye Aramites had giuen him at Ramah, whe he fought against Hazael King of Aram. And Ahaziah the sonne of Iehoram King of Iudah went downe to see Ioram the sonne of Ahab in Izreel, because he was sicke.
