Néhémie 7
1 Lorsque la muraille fut construite, que j'eus dressé les portes et que les gardiens des portes, les chantres et les lévites furent désignés,
And it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
2 je confiai à mon frère Hanani et à Hanania, gouverneur de la forteresse, la responsabilité de Jérusalem, car c'était un homme fidèle et qui craignait Dieu plus que quiconque.
that I gave charge to Ananias my brother, and Ananias the ruler of the palace, over Jerusalem: for he was a true man, and one that feared God beyond many.
3 Je leur dis: « Qu'on n'ouvre pas les portes de Jérusalem avant que le soleil soit chaud; et pendant qu'ils montent la garde, qu'ils ferment les portes, et vous les barrez; et établissez des tours de garde des habitants de Jérusalem, chacun dans son tour de garde, chacun près de sa maison. »
And I said to them, The gates of Jerusalem shall not be opened till sunrise; and while they are still watching, let the doors be shut, and bolted; and set watches of them that dwell in Jerusalem, [every] man at his post, and [every] man over against his house.
4 Or la ville était large et grande; mais le peuple y était peu nombreux, et les maisons n'étaient pas bâties.
Now the city [was] wide and large; and the people [were] few in it, and the houses were not built.
5 Mon Dieu a mis dans mon cœur de rassembler les nobles, les chefs et le peuple, afin de les classer par généalogie. J'ai trouvé le livre de la généalogie de ceux qui étaient montés les premiers, et j'y ai trouvé ceci écrit:
And God put [it] into my heart, and I gathered the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, into companies: and I found a register of the company that came up first, and I found written in it as follows:
6 Ce sont les fils de la province qui sont sortis de la captivité de ceux que Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, avait emmenés, et qui sont revenus à Jérusalem et en Juda, chacun dans sa ville.
Now these [are] the children of the country, that came up from captivity, of the number which Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon carried away, and they returned to Jerusalem and to Juda, [every] man to his city;
7 Ils sont venus avec Zorobabel, Josué, Néhémie, Azaria, Raamia, Nahamani, Mardochée, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvaï, Nehum et Baana. Le nombre d'hommes du peuple d'Israël:
with Zorobabel, and Jesus, and Neemia, Azaria, and Reelma, Naemani, Mardochaeus, Balsan, Maspharath, Esdra, Boguia, Inaum, Baana, Masphar, men of the people of Israel.
8 Fils de Parosh: deux mille cent soixante-douze.
The children of Phoros, two thousand one hundred and seventy-two.
9 Fils de Shephatia: trois cent soixante-douze.
The children of Saphatia, three hundred and seventy-two.
10 Fils d'Arach: six cent cinquante-deux.
The children of Era, six hundred and fifty-two.
11 Fils de Pahathmoab, des fils de Josué et de Joab: deux mille huit cent dix-huit.
The children of Phaath Moab, with the children of Jesus and Joab, two thousand six hundred and eighteen.
12 Fils d'Élam: mille deux cent cinquante-quatre.
The children of Aelam, a thousand two hundred and fifty-four.
13 Fils de Zattu: huit cent quarante-cinq.
The children of Zathuia, eight hundred and forty-five.
14 Fils de Zaccaï: sept cent soixante.
The children of Zacchu, seven hundred and sixty.
15 Fils de Binnui: six cent quarante-huit.
The children of Banui, six hundred and forty-eight.
16 Fils de Bébaï: six cent vingt-huit.
The children of Bebi, six hundred and twenty-eight.
17 Fils d'Azgad: deux mille trois cent vingt-deux.
The children of Asgad, two thousand three hundred and twenty-two.
18 Fils d'Adonikam: six cent soixante-sept.
The children of Adonicam, six hundred and sixty-seven.
19 Fils de Bigvai: deux mille soixante-sept.
The children of Bagoi, two thousand and sixty-seven.
20 Fils d'Adin: six cent cinquante-cinq.
The children of Edin, six hundred and fifty-five.
21 Fils d'Ater: d'Ézéchias, quatre-vingt-dix-huit.
The children of Ater, [the son] of Ezekias, ninety-eight.
22 Fils de Haschum: trois cent vingt-huit.
The children of Esam, three hundred and twenty-eight.
23 Fils de Betsaï: trois cent vingt-quatre.
The children of Besei, three hundred and twenty-four.
24 Fils de Hariph: cent douze.
The children of Ariph, a hundred and twelve: the children of Asen, two hundred and twenty-three.
25 Fils de Gabaon: quatre-vingt-quinze.
The children of Gabaon, ninety-five.
26 Hommes de Bethléem et de Netopha: cent quatre-vingt-huit.
The children of Baethalem, a hundred and twenty-three: the children of Atopha, fifty-six.
27 Hommes d'Anathoth: cent vingt-huit.

28 Les hommes de Beth Azmaveth: quarante-deux.

the children of Labana, the children of Agaba, the children of Selmei,

the children of Anan, the children of Gadel, the children of Gaar,
50 les enfants de Reaiah, les enfants de Rezin, les enfants de Nekoda,
the children of Raaia, the children of Rasson, the children of Necoda,
51 les enfants de Gazzam, les fils de Uzza, les fils de Paseah,
the children of Gezam, the children of Ozi, the children of Phese,
52 les fils de Besai, les fils de Meunim, les fils de Nephushesim,
the children of Besi, the children of Meinon, the children of Nephosasi,
53 les fils de Bakbuk, les fils de Hakupha, les fils de Harhur,
the children of Bacbuc, the children of Achipha, the children of Arur,
54 les fils de Bazlith, les fils de Mehida, les fils de Harsha,
the children of Basaloth, the children of Mida, the children of Adasan,
55 les fils de Barkos, les fils de Sisera, les fils de Temah,
the children of Barcue, the children of Sisarath, the children of Thema,
56 les fils de Neziah, et les fils de Hatipha.
the children of Nisia, the children of Atipha.
57 Fils des serviteurs de Salomon: les fils de Sotai, les fils de Sophereth, les fils de Perida,
The children of the servants of Solomon; the children of Sutei, the children of Sapharat, the children of Pherida,
58 les fils de Jaala, les fils de Darkon, les fils de Giddel,
the children of Jelel, the children of Dorcon, the children of Gadael,
59 les fils de Shephatia, les fils de Hattil, les fils de Pochereth Hazzebaim, et les fils d'Amon.
the children of Saphatia, the children of Ettel, the children of Phacarath, the children of Sabaim, the children of Emim.
60 Tous les serviteurs du temple et les fils des serviteurs de Salomon étaient au nombre de trois cent quatre-vingt-douze.
All the Nathinim, and children of the servants of Solomon, [were] three hundred and ninety-two.
61 Voici ceux qui montèrent de Tel Melah, de Tel Harsha, de Cherub, d'Addon et d'Immer; mais ils ne purent montrer les maisons de leurs pères, ni leurs descendants, pour savoir s'ils étaient d'Israël:
And these went up from Thelmeleth, Thelaresa, Charub, Eron, Jemer: but they could not declare the houses of their families, or their seed, whether they were of Israel.
62 Fils de Delaja, fils de Tobija, fils de Nekoda: six cent quarante-deux.
The children of Dalaia, the children of Tobia, the children of Necoda, six hundred and forty-two.
63 Parmi les sacrificateurs: les fils de Hobaia, les fils de Hakkoz, les fils de Barzillai, qui prit une femme parmi les filles de Barzillai, le Galaadite, et fut appelé de leur nom.
And of the priests; the children of Ebia, the children of Acos, the children of Berzelli, for they took wives of the daughters of Berzelli the Galaadite, and they were called by their name.
64 Ceux-ci ont cherché leurs documents généalogiques, mais ne les ont pas trouvés. Ils furent donc considérés comme disqualifiés et retirés de la prêtrise.
These sought the pedigree of their company, and it was not found, and they were removed [as polluted] from the priesthood.
65 Le gouverneur leur dit de ne pas manger des choses les plus saintes jusqu'à ce qu'un prêtre se lève pour faire le service avec l'Urim et le Thummim.
And the Athersastha said, that they should not eat of the most holy things, until a priest should stand up to give light.
66 Toute l'assemblée était de quarante-deux mille trois cent soixante personnes,
And all the congregation was about forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty,
67 sans compter leurs serviteurs et leurs servantes, au nombre de sept mille trois cent trente-sept. Ils avaient deux cent quarante-cinq chanteurs et chanteuses.
besides their menservants and their maidservants: these were seven thousand three hundred and thirty seven: and the singing-men and singing-women, two hundred and forty-five.
68 Leurs chevaux étaient au nombre de sept cent trente-six; leurs mulets, deux cent quarante-cinq;
69 leurs chameaux, quatre cent trente-cinq; leurs ânes, six mille sept cent vingt.
Two thousand seven hundred asses.
70 Quelques-uns, parmi les chefs de famille, contribuèrent à l'œuvre. Le gouverneur donna au trésor mille dariques d'or, cinquante bassins, et cinq cent trente vêtements de prêtres.
And part of the heads of families gave into the treasury to Neemias for the work a thousand pieces of gold, fifty bowls, and thirty priests' [garments].
71 Des chefs de famille donnèrent au trésor de l'œuvre vingt mille dariques d'or et deux mille deux cents mines d'argent.
And [some] of the heads of families gave into the treasuries of the work, twenty thousand pieces of gold, and two thousand three hundred pounds of silver.
72 Le reste du peuple donna vingt mille dariques d'or, plus deux mille mines d'argent, et soixante-sept vêtements sacerdotaux.
And the rest of the people gave twenty thousand pieces of gold, and two thousand two hundred pounds of silver, and sixty-seven priests' [garments].
73 Ainsi, les prêtres, les lévites, les portiers, les chantres, une partie du peuple, les serviteurs du temple et tout Israël habitaient dans leurs villes. Lorsque le septième mois fut arrivé, les enfants d'Israël étaient dans leurs villes.
And the priests, and Levites, and porters, and singers, and [some] of the people, and the Nathinim, and all Israel, lived in their cities.
