Marc 6
1 Il partit de là. Il vint dans son pays, et ses disciples le suivirent.
Then He went out from there and came to His hometown, and His disciples followed Him.
2 Le sabbat étant venu, il se mit à enseigner dans la synagogue. Beaucoup de gens qui l'entendaient étaient étonnés et disaient: « Où cet homme a-t-il pris ces choses? » et « Quelle est la sagesse qui a été donnée à cet homme, pour que de telles œuvres s'accomplissent par ses mains?
And when the Sabbath came He began to teach in the synagogue. And many who heard were astonished, saying: “Where did this man get these things? What wisdom is this that is given to him? Such mighty works are being performed by his hands!
3 N'est-ce pas le charpentier, fils de Marie et frère de Jacques, de Joses, de Juda et de Simon? Ses sœurs ne sont-elles pas ici avec nous? » Ils furent donc offensés par lui.
Isn't this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas and Simon? And aren't his sisters here with us?” So they took offense at Him.
4 Jésus leur dit: « Un prophète n'est pas sans honneur, si ce n'est dans son pays, parmi ses proches et dans sa maison. »
But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown, among his relatives, even in his own house.”
5 Là, il ne put faire aucune œuvre puissante, si ce n'est qu'il imposa les mains à quelques malades et les guérit.
He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.
6 Il s'étonnait de leur incrédulité. Il parcourait les villages en enseignant.
And He marveled at their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.
7 Il appela à lui les douze, et commença à les envoyer deux par deux; et il leur donna autorité sur les esprits impurs.
Then He summoned the twelve and began to send them out, two by two, giving them authority over the unclean spirits as He did so.
8 Il leur ordonna de ne rien emporter pour leur voyage, si ce n'est un bâton seulement: ni pain, ni portefeuille, ni argent dans leur bourse,
And He commanded them to take nothing for the road, except just a staff—no knapsack, no bread, no coin in the belt—
9 mais de porter des sandales, et de ne pas revêtir deux tuniques.
but to wear sandals, and not put on two tunics.
10 Il leur dit: « Là où vous entrez dans une maison, restez-y jusqu'à ce que vous en sortiez.
And He said to them: “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from that place.
11 Si quelqu'un ne vous reçoit pas et ne vous écoute pas, secouez la poussière qui est sous vos pieds, en témoignage contre lui. En vérité, je vous le dis, au jour du jugement, Sodome et Gomorrhe seront plus tolérables que cette ville-là! »
And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, as you depart from there, shake off the dust that is under your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah on Judgment Day than for that city.”
12 Ils allaient et prêchaient que les gens se repentent.
So they went out and started preaching that people should repent,
13 Ils chassaient beaucoup de démons, et ils oignaient d'huile beaucoup de malades et les guérissaient.
and they were casting out many demons, and anointing with oil and healing many who were sick.
14 Le roi Hérode entendit cela, car son nom était connu, et il dit: « Jean le Baptiste est ressuscité des morts, et c'est pourquoi ces forces agissent en lui. »
Now King Herod heard of Him, because His name had become well known, and he said, “John the Baptizer has been raised from the dead, and that is why the powers are at work in him.”
15 Mais d'autres disaient: « C'est Élie. » D'autres disaient: « C'est un prophète, ou comme un des prophètes. »
Others said, “He is Elijah.” Still others said, “He is a prophet like one of the prophets.”
16 Hérode, ayant entendu cela, dit: « C'est Jean, que j'ai décapité. Il est ressuscité des morts. »
But when Herod heard, he said: “This is John, whom I beheaded; he has been raised from the dead!”
17 Car Hérode lui-même avait envoyé arrêter Jean et l'avait fait lier en prison à cause d'Hérodiade, la femme de Philippe, son frère, car il l'avait épousée.
You see, Herod himself had ordered John arrested, and bound him in prison, on account of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife; because he had married her
18 Car Jean avait dit à Hérode: « Il ne t'est pas permis d'avoir la femme de ton frère. »
—John had kept saying to Herod, “It isn't lawful for you to have your brother's wife.”
19 Hérodias se dressa contre lui et voulut le tuer, mais elle ne le put pas,
So Herodias nursed a grudge against him and wanted to kill him; but she couldn't,
20 car Hérode craignait Jean, sachant que c'était un homme juste et saint, et il le protégeait. Lorsqu'il l'entendit, il fit beaucoup de choses, et il l'écouta avec plaisir.
because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing him to be a just and holy man. And consulting him he would do many things; indeed, he would hear him with pleasure.
21 Un jour opportun arriva où Hérode, le jour de son anniversaire, donna un souper à ses nobles, aux hauts fonctionnaires et aux chefs de la Galilée.
Then an opportune day came when on his birthday Herod gave a banquet for his courtiers, the military commanders, and the chief men of Galilee.
22 Lorsque la fille d'Hérodiade entra et dansa, elle plut à Hérode et à ceux qui étaient assis avec lui. Le roi dit à la jeune fille: « Demande-moi ce que tu veux, et je te le donnerai. »
When the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, and pleased Herod and those reclining with him, the king said to the girl, “Ask me whatever you want, and I will give it to you.”
23 Il lui jura: « Tout ce que tu me demanderas, je te le donnerai, jusqu'à la moitié de mon royaume. »
He even swore to her, “Whatever you may ask me I will give you, up to half of my kingdom!”
24 Elle sortit et dit à sa mère: « Que dois-je demander? » Elle a dit: « La tête de Jean le Baptiste. »
So she went out and said to her mother, “What shall I ask?” And she said, “The head of John the Baptist!”
25 Elle se rendit aussitôt en toute hâte auprès du roi et lui demanda: « Je veux que tu me donnes sur-le-champ la tête de Jean le Baptiste sur un plateau. »
Hurrying in directly to the king she requested, saying, “I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter!”
26 Le roi était extrêmement désolé, mais par égard pour ses serments et pour ses convives, il ne voulait pas la refuser.
Though the king became very sorry, because of his oaths and of his guests he did not want to refuse her.
27 Aussitôt, le roi envoya un soldat de sa garde et ordonna d'apporter la tête de Jean; il alla le décapiter dans la prison,
Immediately the king sent an executioner and commanded the head to be brought. So he went and beheaded him in the prison,
28 ramena sa tête sur un plateau et la donna à la jeune femme; et la jeune femme la donna à sa mère.
brought the head on a platter, and gave it to the girl; and the girl gave it to her mother.
29 Lorsque ses disciples entendirent cela, ils vinrent prendre son cadavre et le déposèrent dans un tombeau.
Upon hearing of it, his disciples came, removed the corpse and placed it in a tomb.
30 Les apôtres s'assemblèrent auprès de Jésus, et ils lui racontèrent tout ce qu'ils avaient fait et tout ce qu'ils avaient enseigné.
Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and reported all to Him, both what they had done and what they had taught.
31 Il leur dit: « Allez dans un lieu désert, et reposez-vous quelque temps. » Car il y avait beaucoup d'allées et venues, et ils n'avaient même pas le loisir de manger.
Because so many were coming and going that they did not even have leisure to eat, He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest awhile.”
32 Ils partirent donc dans la barque, et s'en allèrent seuls dans un lieu désert.
So they went away in the boat by themselves to a deserted place.
33 Ils les virent aller, et beaucoup le reconnurent et y coururent à pied de toutes les villes. Ils arrivèrent avant eux et se rassemblèrent auprès de lui.
But many saw them going and recognized them, and they ran there on foot from all the towns and arrived before them, and came together to Him.
34 Jésus sortit, vit une grande foule, et il eut pitié d'eux parce qu'ils étaient comme des brebis sans berger; et il se mit à leur enseigner beaucoup de choses.
Well upon disembarking Jesus saw a large crowd and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and He began to teach them many things.
35 Comme il était tard dans la journée, ses disciples s'approchèrent de lui et dirent: « Ce lieu est désert, et il est tard dans la journée.
When it was late in the day, His disciples came to Him and said: “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late.
36 Renvoie-les, afin qu'ils aillent dans les campagnes et les villages d'alentour s'acheter du pain, car ils n'ont rien à manger. »
Send them away so they may go to the surrounding farms and villages and buy themselves bread; for they have nothing to eat.”
37 Mais il leur répondit: « Vous leur donnez à manger. » Ils lui demandèrent: « Allons-nous acheter pour deux cents deniers de pain et leur donner à manger? »
But in reply He said to them, “You feed them!” They say to Him, “Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and feed them?”
38 Il leur dit: « Combien de pains avez-vous? Allez voir. » Quand ils l'ont su, ils ont dit: « Cinq et deux poissons. »
So He says to them: “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” When they knew they said, “Five, and two fish.”
39 Il leur ordonna de s'asseoir par groupes sur l'herbe verte.
Then He directed them all to recline in groups on the green grass.
40 Ils s'assirent en rangs, par centaines et par cinquantaines.
So they reclined in ‘plots’ of hundreds and of fifties.
41 Il prit les cinq pains et les deux poissons; et, levant les yeux au ciel, il bénit et rompit les pains, qu'il donna à ses disciples pour les mettre devant eux, et il partagea les deux poissons entre tous.
And taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke the loaves and gave them to His disciples to serve the people; He also divided the two fish among them all.
42 Ils mangèrent tous et furent rassasiés.
Well they all ate and were filled.
43 Ils emportèrent douze paniers pleins des morceaux rompus et aussi des poissons.
And they picked up twelve full baskets of broken pieces; also of the fish.
44 Ceux qui avaient mangé les pains étaient cinq mille hommes.
There were five thousand men who ate the loaves.
45 Aussitôt, il fit monter ses disciples dans la barque et les fit passer à l'autre rive, à Bethsaïda, tandis que lui-même renvoyait la foule.
Immediately He made His disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, while He dismissed the crowd.
46 Après avoir pris congé d'eux, il monta sur la montagne pour prier.
And after taking leave of them He went up the mountain to pray.
47 Le soir venu, la barque était au milieu de la mer, et lui était seul à terre.
Now when evening had passed, the boat was in the middle of the sea; and He was alone on the land.
48 Les voyant dans l'angoisse de ramer, car le vent leur était contraire, vers la quatrième veille de la nuit, il vint à eux, marchant sur la mer; il aurait voulu passer près d'eux,
And He saw them straining at rowing, because the wind was against them. Well about the fourth watch of the night He comes to them walking on the water, and would have passed by them;
49 mais eux, le voyant marcher sur la mer, crurent que c'était un fantôme et poussèrent des cris;
but they saw Him walking on the water, supposed He was a ghost, and yelled!
50 car tous le voyaient et étaient troublés. Mais aussitôt il leur parla et leur dit: « Courage! C'est moi! N'ayez pas peur. »
Because they all saw Him and were terrified. Immediately He spoke with them and said: “Have courage! It is I; don't be afraid!”
51 Il monta dans la barque avec eux; et le vent cessa, et ils furent très étonnés entre eux, et s'en étonnèrent;
Then He got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were totally astounded within themselves, and kept marveling.
52 car ils n'avaient pas compris pour les pains, mais leur cœur était endurci.
Because they had not understood about the loaves—their hearts had been hardened.
53 Après avoir traversé, ils abordèrent à Génésareth et s'amarrèrent au rivage.
After they had crossed over, they came to the land of Genesaret and anchored there.
54 Dès qu'ils furent descendus de la barque, les gens le reconnurent,
When they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him,
55 et coururent dans toute la région. Ils se mirent à amener les malades sur leurs nattes là où ils avaient appris qu'il était.
and running about that whole surrounding region they began to carry about on their pallets those who were sick to wherever they heard He was.
56 Partout où il entrait, dans les villages, dans les villes ou dans les campagnes, ils déposaient les malades sur les places publiques et le priaient de leur permettre de toucher la frange de son vêtement; et tous ceux qui le touchaient étaient guéris.
Wherever He entered—into villages, towns, or countryside—they would place the sick in the marketplaces, and they would beg Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment; and all who touched Him were healed.
