1 Job vastasi ja sanoi:
Then answered Job, and said,
2 "Kuinka oletkaan auttanut voimatonta, tukenut heikkoa käsivartta!
What assistance hast thou given to the powerless? [how] hast thou helped the arm without strength?
3 Kuinka oletkaan neuvonut taitamatonta ja ilmituonut paljon ymmärrystä!
How hast thou counselled the unwise? and what sound wisdom hast thou made known so plentifully?
4 Kenelle oikein olet puheesi pitänyt, ja kenen henki on sinusta käynyt?
To whom hast thou told words? and whose spirit came from thee?
5 Haamut alhaalla värisevät, vetten ja niiden asukasten alla.
The departed are called into being beneath the waters, and their inhabitants.
Naked is the nether world before him, and there is no covering for the place of corruption. (Sheol h7585)
7 Pohjoisen hän kaarruttaa autiuden ylle, ripustaa maan tyhjyyden päälle.
He stretched out the north over empty space; he suspended the earth on nothing;
8 Hän sitoo vedet pilviinsä, eivätkä pilvet halkea niiden alla.
He bound up the waters in his clouds; and the cloud bursteth not under their weight;
9 Hän peittää valtaistuimensa näkyvistä, levittää pilvensä sen ylitse.
He closed up the surface of his throne, spreading over it his cloud;
10 Hän on vetänyt piirin vetten pinnalle, siihen missä valo päättyy pimeään.
A fixed limit he compassed off over the face of the waters, for the division of the light and darkness.
11 Taivaan patsaat huojuvat ja hämmästyvät hänen nuhtelustaan.
The pillars of heaven tremble greatly, and are astounded at his rebuke.
12 Voimallansa hän kuohutti meren, ja taidollansa hän ruhjoi Rahabin.
By his power he split in pieces the sea, and by his understanding he crushed [its] pride:
13 Hänen henkäyksestään kirkastui taivas; hänen kätensä lävisti kiitävän lohikäärmeen.
By his breath the heavens [acquired] beauty; his hand hath created the flying serpent.
14 Katso, nämä ovat ainoastaan hänen tekojensa äärten häämötystä, ja kuinka hiljainen onkaan kuiskaus, jonka hänestä kuulemme! Mutta kuka käsittää hänen väkevyytensä jylinän?"
Lo, these are ends of his ways; for how slight a whisper is heard [by us] of him! but the thunder of his mighty deeds who can understand?
