1 Niisiis, mu vennad ja õed, rõõmustage Issandas! Mul ei ole raske teile samadest asjadest uuesti kirjutada, sest see kinnitab teid.
MOREOVER, brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not irksome, but is safe for you.
2 Olge valvel koerte pärast, kurjade töötegijate pärast, nende lihalõikajate pärast!
Beware of dogs, beware of the malicious labourers, beware of the concision.
3 Sest ümberlõigatud oleme meie, kes Jumalat teenime vaimus, kiitleme Kristusest Jeesusest ega looda liha peale,
For we are the circumcision, who serve God in spirit, and glory in Christ Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh.
4 kuigi minul oleks lootust ka liha poolest. Kui keegi arvab, et temal on lootust liha tõttu, siis minul on rohkem:
Though I too might have confidence in the flesh; if any other man thinks that he may have confidence in the flesh, I may claim more:
5 ma olen ümber lõigatud kaheksandal päeval, Iisraeli soost, Benjamini suguharust, põline heebrealane, Seaduse järgi variser;
circumcised the eighth day, of the race of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews;
6 üliagaruses koguduse tagakiusaja, Seadusest tuleneva õiguse poolest veatu.
respecting the law, a Pharisee; with regard to zeal, persecuting the church; as touching the righteousness which is by the law, blameless.
7 Aga kõik oma kunagised kasud olen ma arvestanud kahjuks Kristuse pärast.
But what things were gain to me, these have I counted loss for Christ.
8 Veel enam, ma pean kõike kahjuks Issanda Kristuse Jeesuse kõikeületava tunnetuse kõrval. Tema pärast ma olen selle kõik minetanud ja arvanud otsekui rämpsuks, et saada kasuks Kristust,
Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the transcendently excellent knowledge of Jesus Christ my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but as offals of ordure, that I may gain Christ,
9 ja et mind leitaks tema seest ega oleks mul oma õigust, mis tuleb Seadusest, vaid õigus, mis tuleb usust Kristusesse, sest usu tõttu on Jumal mind õigeks mõistnud.
and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is by the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
10 Ma tahan ära tunda Kristust, tema ülestõusmise väge ja kannatuste osadust, saades tema surma sarnaseks,
that I may know him, and the virtue of his resurrection, and communion with his sufferings, being conformed to his death;
11 et minagi mingil viisil jõuaksin ülestõusmisele surnuist.
if haply I may attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
12 Mitte et ma oleksin selle kõik juba kätte saanud või oleksin juba oma eesmärgi saavutanud, aga ma surun edasi, et saada kätte see, mille pärast Kristus Jeesus on mind kätte saanud.
Not that I have already attained, or am now perfect: but I pursue, that I may overtake that for which also by his apprehension of me I am destined by Christ Jesus.
13 Vennad ja õed, ma ei arva, et ma oleksin selle juba kätte saanud. Aga ühte asja ma teen: ma unustan ära, mis on taga, ja pingutan selle poole, mis on ees.
Brethren, I count not myself to have overtaken it; but this one object I pursue, forgetting the things which are behind, and reaching out to those which are before,
14 Ma pürgin eesmärgi poole, et võita auhind, see on igavene elu, mille pärast Jumal on mind kutsunud Kristuses Jeesuses.
I press towards the mark for the prize of the divine calling from on high in Christ Jesus.
15 Meie kõik, kes me oleme küpsed, peaksime vaatama asjadele sel moel. Ja kui te mingil hetkel mõtlete teisiti, küll siis Jumal teile selle selgeks teeb.
Let as many of us therefore as are perfect, be thus minded: and if ye entertain any other sentiment, God also will unveil this unto you.
16 Siiski, mingem edasi sealt, kuhu me oleme jõudnud!
Nevertheless, so far as we have advanced, be it our care to walk by the same rule, to mind the same thing.
17 Vennad ja õed, võtke mind eeskujuks ja jälgige neid, kes elavad nii, nagu meie teile eeskujuks oleme.
Be ye imitators, brethren, of me, and eye attentively those who walk so as ye have us for an example.
18 Nagu ma olen ju teile tihti rääkinud ja ütlen nuttes nüüdki, elavad paljud Kristuse risti vaenlasena.
For many walk, whom I have often mentioned to you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 Nende lõpp on hukatus, nende jumal on kõht ja nende uhkus on nende häbi, kõik nende mõtted keerlevad maiste asjade ümber.
whose end is perdition, whose God is their belly, and their glory in their shame, whose minds are occupied with earthly things.
20 Sest meie ühiskond on taevas, ja sealt me ka ootame Päästjat, Issandat Jeesust Kristust,
But our conversation is in heaven as its citizens, from whence also we are expecting the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ,
21 kes meie alandatud ihu muudab oma kirkuse ihu sarnaseks selle väega, millega ta võib ka kõik enesele alistada.
who shall transform our body of humiliation, that it may be conformed to his body of glory, according to the effectual working of him who is able to subdue even all things to himself.
