1 Kiu amas instruon, tiu amas scion; Sed kiu malamas atentigon, tiu estas malsaĝulo.
He who loveth correction loveth knowledge; But he who hateth rebuke remaineth stupid.
2 Bonulo akiras favoron de la Eternulo; Sed homo malica estos kondamnita.
The good man obtaineth favor from the LORD; But the man of wicked devices he condemneth.
3 Ne fortikiĝos homo per malvirto; Sed la radiko de virtuloj ne ŝanceliĝos.
A man shall not be established by wickedness; But the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
4 Brava virino estas krono por sia edzo; Sed senhonora estas kiel puso en liaj ostoj.
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband; But she who causeth shame is as rottenness in his bones.
5 La pensoj de virtuloj estas justeco; La meditado de malvirtuloj estas malico.
The purposes of the righteous are just; The designs of the wicked are deceitful.
6 La paroloj de malvirtuloj estas insido pri sango; Sed la buŝo de virtuloj ilin savas.
The words of the wicked lie in wait for men's blood; But the mouth of the upright delivereth them.
7 La malvirtuloj renversiĝos kaj malaperos; Sed la domo de virtuloj staros forte.
The wicked are overthrown, and are no more; But the house of the righteous shall stand.
8 Oni laŭdas homon laŭ lia saĝo; Sed perversulo estos hontigita.
A man will be commended according to his wisdom; But he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
9 Pli bona estas homo negrava, sed laboranta por si, Ol homo, kiu serĉas honoron, sed al kiu mankas pano.
Better is he that demeaneth himself, and hath a servant, Than he that exalteth himself, and hath no bread.
10 Virtulo kompatas la vivon de sia bruto; Sed la koro de malvirtuloj estas kruela.
The righteous man careth for the life of his beast; But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
11 Kiu prilaboras sian teron, tiu havos sate da pano; Sed kiu serĉas vantaĵojn, tiu estas malsaĝulo.
He who tilleth his own land shall be satisfied with bread; But he who followeth worthless persons is void of understanding.
12 Malvirtulo serĉas subtenon de malnobluloj; Sed la radiko de virtuloj donas forton.
The wicked man longeth after the prey of evil-doers; But the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
13 Per siaj pekaj vortoj kaptiĝas malbonulo; Sed virtulo eliras el mizero.
In the transgression of the lips is a dangerous snare; But the righteous man shall escape from trouble.
14 Per la fruktoj de sia buŝo homo bone satiĝas; Kaj laŭ la merito de siaj manoj homo ricevas redonon.
By the fruit of a man's mouth he shall be filled with good, And the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
15 La vojo de malsaĝulo estas ĝusta en liaj okuloj; Sed saĝulo aŭskultas konsilon.
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; But he that hearkeneth to counsel is wise.
16 Malsaĝulo tuj montras sian koleron; Sed saĝulo ignoras ofendon.
A fool's wrath is instantly known; But he that hideth insult is wise.
17 Kiu estas verama, tiu eldiras tion, kio estas ĝusta, Sed falsama atestulo trompon.
He that speaketh truth testifieth what is right; But a false witness, deceit.
18 Ofte nepripensita parolo vundas kiel glavo; Sed la lango de saĝuloj sanigas.
There is who babbleth like the piercing of a sword; But the tongue of the wise is health.
19 Parolo vera restas fortike por ĉiam; Sed parolo malvera nur por momento.
The lip of truth shall be established for ever; But the tongue of falsehood, but for a moment.
20 Malico estas en la koro de malbonintenculoj; Sed ĉe la pacigantoj estas ĝojo.
Deceit is in the heart of those who contrive evil; But to the counsellors of peace shall be joy.
21 Nenio malbona trafos virtulon; Sed la malvirtuloj havas plene da malbono.
No evil shall happen to the righteous; But the wicked shall be filled with calamity.
22 Abomenaĵo por la Eternulo estas buŝo mensogema; Sed kiuj agas laŭ vero, tiuj plaĉas al Li.
False lips are the abomination of the LORD; But they who deal truly are his delight.
23 Saĝa homo kaŝas scion; Sed la koro de malsaĝuloj elkrias malsaĝecon.
A prudent man concealeth his knowledge; Bur the heart of fools proclaimeth their foolishness.
24 La mano de diligentuloj regos; Sed mano maldiligenta pagos tributon.
The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; But the slothful shall be under tribute.
25 Zorgo en la koro de homo ĝin premas; Sed amika vorto ĝin ĝojigas.
Anxiety in the heart of a man boweth it down; But a kind word maketh it glad.
26 Al la virtulo estas pli bone, ol al lia proksimulo; Sed la vojo de malvirtuloj ilin erarigas.
The righteous showeth the way to his neighbor; But the way of the wicked leadeth them astray.
27 Maldiligenteco ne pretigos al si manĝon; Sed homo diligenta havas riĉecon.
The slothful man shall not roast his game; But a precious treasure to any man is he that is diligent.
28 Sur la vojo de virto estas vivo, Kaj ĝi estos ebenigita kontraŭ morto.
In the path of righteousness is life, And in her pathway there is no death.
