< Proverbs 6 >

1 My son! if thou hast been surety for thy friend, Hast stricken for a stranger thy hand,

3 Do this now, my son, and be delivered, For thou hast come into the hand of thy friend. Go, trample on thyself, and strengthen thy friend,

4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, And slumber to thine eyelids,
Jan choldo louvin, namit teni jeng jong sing-hih in, namit geija keh mitmul ho jong kichol da hen.
5 Be delivered as a roe from the hand, And as a bird from the hand of a fowler.
Sadelpa masanga sakhigol ajammang bang in, nangma tah kihuh hing ding gotan, vacha thangkol-a kitoldoh bang in nangma tah kihuh hing loijin.
6 Go unto the ant, O slothful one, See her ways and be wise;
Vo mi thase ho, cheuvin sihmi khu gave tim un, aum chan u-khun kihil un lang chingdoh tauvin.
7 Which hath not captain, overseer, and ruler,
Amahon natonga agoi diu lengle gamvaipo, vaihom aneilou vang un,
8 She doth prepare in summer her bread, She hath gathered in harvest her food.
Amahon nipi laija neh ding aki-khol khom un, khokhal teng nehding aki-khol khom theijun ahi.
9 Till when, O slothful one, dost thou lie? When dost thou arise from thy sleep?
Hinlah vo mithase hiche mun'a hi itih chan na-imut ding hitam? Nalup mun'a kon itih phat'a thoding nagot hitam?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber, A little clasping of the hands to rest,
Na i-mut a, namoh kijam jeng a, nakhut chalo-sah louva namoh um jenga ahileh,
11 And thy poverty hath come as a traveller, And thy want as an armed man.
Chule vaichat na chun gucha banga na hin lhunkhum ding, lhinlel na chun gal manchah choipa banga nahin lhunkhum ding ahi.
12 A man of worthlessness, a man of iniquity, Walking [with] perverseness of mouth,
Mi pannabei le mikitah lou chu thudihlou sei phong in ache leuvin ahi.
13 Winking with his eyes, speaking with his feet, Directing with his fingers,
Ajon chihnau amit lhap uva akilang jin, akhut jung uvin hichu akoh jiuvin ahi.
14 Frowardness [is] in his heart, devising evil at all times, Contentions he sendeth forth.
Alungthim phatlou nauvin thilse agong un, tantih neilouvin kitomana ding jeng abol jiuvin ahi.
15 Therefore suddenly cometh his calamity, Instantly he is broken — and no healing.
Hiche ho jeh chun, amaho chunga gangtah in manthahna achujin, damdoh vah thei loua um diu ahi.
16 These six hath Jehovah hated, Yea, seven [are] abominations to His soul.
Yahweh Pakai in athet tah thil gup aum in, Ama ding in thil sagima adei lou aum in ahi.
17 Eyes high — tongues false — And hands shedding innocent blood —
Kiletsah mitvet, jou seina leigui, mona beija thisansoa panla khut teni,
18 A heart devising thoughts of vanity — Feet hasting to run to evil —
Thilse gonna lungthim, thilse bol dinga lhai keng teni,
19 A false witness [who] doth breathe out lies — And one sending forth contentions between brethren.
Thujouseina-a jou sakhia pang, chule asopi lah-a kitomona muchi thea pangpa ahi.
20 Keep, my son, the command of thy father, And leave not the law of thy mother.
Kachapa, napa thupeh hohi jui jing in, chule nanun nahilna jong don louvin koi hih in.
21 Bind them on thy heart continually, Tie them on thy neck.
Hichu nalung sunga chingtup jing in, na ngonga khivui on ki-o jing in.
22 In thy going up and down, it leadeth thee, In thy lying down, it watcheth over thee, And thou hast awaked — it talketh [with] thee.
Hiche hochun nakal sonna jousea napui hoi ding, na-imut teng jongleh nachin tup diu, nahung khahdoh teng jongleh nahil'a pang kit ding ahi.
23 For a lamp [is] the command, And the law a light, And a way of life [are] reproofs of instruction,
Ajeh chu thupeh chengse hi thaomeia pang ahin, kihilna jeng jong thaomei vah tobang, chule kiphosalna le kigah chahna jouse jong hinna lampia pang ahibouve.
24 To preserve thee from an evil woman, From the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
Hichun numei phalouva kon navenbit ding, akam them jehju numeia kon chu nahoidoh thei ding ahi.
25 Desire not her beauty in thy heart, And let her not take thee with her eyelids.
Melhoinu khu nalung in deicha hih beh in, amit vetdan akon in jong kilhep lhahsah hih hel in.
26 For a harlot consumeth unto a cake of bread, And an adulteress the precious soul hunteth.
Ajeh chu numei kijohnu chu changlhah khat jengseh a jong muthei ahin, hitobang numei pasaltoh jongji chun pasal hinkho chu manthahna asoji ahitai.
27 Doth a man take fire into his bosom, And are his garments not burnt?
Mihem khat chun adip-a mei-al apoh theijem? Chule aponsil jeng jong kavam louva akoi thei lou ahi.
28 Doth a man walk on the hot coals, And are his feet not scorched?
Mihem khat chu mei-al chunga vahle theijem? Akengto phang teni jong kalouva akoi thei lou ahi.
29 So [is] he who hath gone in unto the wife of his neighbour, None who doth touch her is innocent.
Aheng akompa jinu jonpi jong hiche tobang bep chu hiding, aheng akompa jinu lup khompi tapou chu Dan in amat tei ding ahi.
30 They do not despise the thief, When he stealeth to fill his soul when he is hungry,
Gilkel khat chun neh ding deija thil aguh tah-a ahileh, hichepa chu mihemte muda chang cheh ahi.
31 And being found he repayeth sevenfold, All the substance of his house he giveth.
Hinlah gucha chu akimat khah tahleh, aguhdoh jat chu jat sagi jen'a ale ding, anei le agou jouse aguchat jeh'a asahna'a anei ding ahitai
32 He who committeth adultery [with] a woman lacketh heart, He is destroying his soul who doth it.
Chule mitoh jon thanhoi bolpa chu lungthim neilou ahin, thildihlou abolna chun manthahna alhun den ding ahi.
33 A stroke and shame he doth find, And his reproach is not wiped away,
Amapa chun jumna maha aput ding, min amuda na jong beitih um lou ding ahi.
34 For jealousy [is] the fury of a man, And he doth not spare in a day of vengeance.
Ajeh chu thangset kiti hin mihem alung sousah jin, datkhen um louva phulahna aneiji ahi.
35 He accepteth not the appearance of any atonement, Yea, he doth not consent, Though thou dost multiply bribes!
Amapa chun leona man akilah nom lou ding, thil ijat pebe jong lechun asan thei lou ding ahi.
