Job 42
1 And Job answereth Jehovah and saith: —
Alors Job répondit à Yahvé:
2 Thou hast known that [for] all things Thou art able, And not withheld from Thee is [any] device:
« Je sais que tu peux tout faire, et qu'aucune de vos intentions ne peut être retenue.
3 'Who [is] this, hiding counsel without knowledge?' Therefore, I have declared, and understand not, Too wonderful for me, and I know not.
Tu as demandé: « Qui est celui qui cache un conseil sans le savoir? ». J'ai donc prononcé ce que je n'ai pas compris, des choses trop merveilleuses pour moi, que je ne connaissais pas.
4 'Hear, I pray thee, and I — I do speak, I ask thee, and cause thou me to know.'
Tu as dit: « Écoute, maintenant, et je vais parler; Je vous interrogerai et vous me répondrez.
5 By the hearing of the ear I heard Thee, And now mine eye hath seen Thee.
J'avais entendu parler de toi par l'ouïe, mais maintenant mon œil te voit.
6 Therefore do I loathe [it], And I have repented on dust and ashes.
C'est pourquoi je me dégoûte, et se repentir dans la poussière et les cendres. »
7 And it cometh to pass after Jehovah's speaking these words unto Job, that Jehovah saith unto Eliphaz the Temanite, 'Burned hath Mine anger against thee, and against thy two friends, because ye have not spoken concerning Me rightly, like My servant Job.
Après que l'Éternel eut dit ces paroles à Job, il dit à Éliphaz, le Thémanite: Ma colère s'enflamme contre toi et contre tes deux amis, car vous n'avez pas parlé de moi avec droiture, comme l'a fait mon serviteur Job.
8 And now, take to you seven bullocks and seven rams, and go ye unto My servant Job, and ye have caused a burnt-offering to ascend for you; and Job My servant doth pray for you, for surely his face I accept, so as not to do with you folly, because ye have not spoken concerning Me rightly, like My servant Job.
Maintenant, prenez pour vous sept taureaux et sept béliers, allez vers mon serviteur Job, et offrez pour vous un holocauste; et mon serviteur Job priera pour vous, car je l'accepterai, afin de ne pas vous traiter selon votre folie. Car vous n'avez pas dit de moi ce qui est juste, comme l'a fait mon serviteur Job. »
9 And they go — Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, Zophar the Naamathite — and do as Jehovah hath spoken unto them; and Jehovah doth accept the face of Job.
Et Éliphaz, le Témanite, Bildad, le Shuhite, et Zophar, le Naamathite, s'en allèrent et firent ce que Yahvé leur avait ordonné, et Yahvé accepta Job.
10 And Jehovah hath turned [to] the captivity of Job in his praying for his friends, and Jehovah doth add [to] all that Job hath — to double.
Yahvé a rétabli la prospérité de Job lorsque celui-ci a prié pour ses amis. Yahvé donna à Job le double de ce qu'il avait auparavant.
11 And come unto him do all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all his former acquaintances, and they eat bread with him in his house, and bemoan him, and comfort him concerning all the evil that Jehovah had brought upon him, and they gave to him each one kesitah, and each one ring of gold.
Alors tous ses frères, toutes ses sœurs, et tous ceux qu'il connaissait auparavant, vinrent le trouver et mangèrent avec lui dans sa maison. Ils le réconfortèrent et le consolèrent au sujet de tout le mal que Yahvé avait fait venir sur lui. Tous lui donnèrent aussi une pièce d'argent, et chacun un anneau d'or.
12 And Jehovah hath blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning, and he hath fourteen thousand of a flock, and six thousand camels, and a thousand pairs of oxen, and a thousand she-asses.
Et Yahvé bénit la fin de Job plus que son début. Il avait quatorze mille moutons, six mille chameaux, mille paires de bœufs et mille ânesses.
13 And he hath seven sons and three daughters;
Il avait aussi sept fils et trois filles.
14 and he calleth the name of the one Jemima, and the name of the second Kezia, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch.
Il appela le nom du premier, Jemimah; le nom du second, Keziah; et le nom du troisième, Keren Happuch.
15 And there have not been found women fair as the daughters of Job in all the land, and their father doth give to them an inheritance in the midst of their brethren.
Dans tout le pays, on ne trouva pas de femmes aussi belles que les filles de Job. Leur père leur donna un héritage parmi leurs frères.
16 And Job liveth after this a hundred and forty years, and seeth his sons, and his sons' sons, four generations;
Après cela, Job vécut cent quarante ans, et vit ses fils, et les fils de ses fils, jusqu'à quatre générations.
17 and Job dieth, aged and satisfied [with] days.
Job mourut, âgé et rassasié de jours.
