Isaiah 20

1 In the year of the coming in of Tartan to Ashdod, when Sargon king of Asshur sendeth him, and he fighteth against Ashdod, and captureth it,

No ano em que Tartan veio a Ashdod, quando Sargon, o rei da Assíria, o enviou, e ele lutou contra Ashdod e o tomou;

2 at that time spake Jehovah by the hand of Isaiah son of Amoz, saying, 'Go, and thou hast loosed the sackcloth from off thy loins, and thy sandal thou dost draw from off thy foot,' and he doth so, going naked and barefoot.

naquela época Yahweh falou por Isaías, filho de Amoz, dizendo: “Vá, e solte o pano de saco de sua cintura, e tire suas sandálias de seus pés”. Ele o fez, andando nu e descalço.

3 And Jehovah saith, 'As My servant Isaiah hath gone naked and barefoot three years, a sign and a wonder for Egypt and for Cush,

Yahweh disse: “Como meu servo Isaías caminhou três anos nu e descalço por um sinal e uma maravilha a respeito do Egito e da Etiópia,

4 so doth the king of Asshur lead the captivity of Egypt, and the removal of Cush, young and old, naked and barefoot, with seat uncovered — the nakedness of Egypt;

assim o rei da Assíria levará os cativos do Egito e os exilados da Etiópia, jovens e velhos, nus e descalços, e com as nádegas descobertas, à vergonha do Egito.

5 and they have been affrighted and ashamed of Cush their confidence, and of Egypt their beauty,

Eles ficarão consternados e confusos, por causa da Etiópia sua expectativa, e do Egito sua glória.

6 and the inhabitant of this isle hath said in that day — Lo, thus [is] our trust, Whither we have fled for help, To be delivered from the king of Asshur, And how do we escape — we?'

Os habitantes desta terra costeira dirão naquele dia: “Eis que esta é a nossa expectativa, onde fugimos para pedir ajuda ao rei da Assíria para sermos libertados. E nós, como escaparemos?””.
