Psalms 89
1 The lernyng of Ethan, Ezraite. I schal synge with outen ende; the mercies of the Lord. In generacioun and in to generacioun; Y schal telle thi treuthe with my mouth.
Cantique d’Ethan l’Ezrahite. Je veux chanter à jamais les bontés de Yahweh; à toutes les générations ma bouche fera connaître ta fidélité.
2 For thou seidist, With outen ende merci schal be bildid in heuenes; thi treuthe schal be maad redi in tho.
Car je dis: La bonté est un édifice éternel, dans les cieux tu as établi ta fidélité.
3 I disposide a testament to my chosun men; Y swoor to Dauid, my seruaunt,
« J’ai contracté alliance avec mon élu; j’ai fait ce serment à David, mon serviteur:
4 Til in to with outen ende I schal make redi thi seed. And Y schal bilde thi seete; in generacioun, and in to generacioun.
je veux affermir ta race pour toujours, établir ton trône pour toutes les générations. » — Séla.
5 Lord, heuenes schulen knouleche thi merueilis; and thi treuthe in the chirche of seyntis.
Les cieux célèbrent tes merveilles, Yahweh, et ta fidélité dans l’assemblée des saints.
6 For who in the cloudis schal be maad euene to the Lord; schal be lijk God among the sones of God?
Car qui pourrait, dans le ciel, se comparer à Yahweh? Qui est semblable à Yahweh parmi les fils de Dieu?
7 God, which is glorified in the counsel of seyntis; is greet, and dreedful ouere alle that ben in his cumpas.
Dieu est terrible dans la grande assemblée des saints, il est redoutable pour tous ceux qui l’entourent.
8 Lord God of vertues, who is lijk thee? Lord, thou art miyti, and thi treuthe is in thi cumpas.
Yahweh, Dieu des armées, qui est comme toi? Tu es puissant, Yahweh, et ta fidélité t’environne.
9 Thou art Lord of the power of the see; forsothe thou aswagist the stiryng of the wawis therof.
C’est toi qui domptes l’orgueil de la mer; quand ses flots se soulèvent, c’est toi qui les apaises.
10 Thou madist lowe the proude, as woundid; in the arm of thi vertu thou hast scaterid thin enemyes.
C’est toi qui écrasas Rahab comme un cadavre, qui dispersas tes ennemis par la force de ton bras.
11 Heuenes ben thin, and erthe is thin; thou hast foundid the world, and the fulnesse therof;
À toi sont les cieux, à toi aussi la terre; le monde et ce qu’il contient, c’est toi qui l’as fondé.
12 thou madist of nouyt the north and the see. Thabor and Hermon schulen make ful out ioye in thi name;
Tu as créé le nord et le midi; le Thabor et l’Hermon tressaillent à ton nom.
13 thin arm with power. Thin hond be maad stidefast, and thi riythond be enhaunsid;
Ton bras est armé de puissance, ta main est forte, ta droite élevée.
14 riytfulnesse and doom is the makyng redy of thi seete. Merci and treuthe schulen go bifore thi face;
La justice et l’équité sont le fondement de ton trône, la bonté et la fidélité se tiennent devant ta face.
15 blessid is the puple that kan hertli song. Lord, thei schulen go in the liyt of thi cheer;
Heureux le peuple qui connaît les joyeuses acclamations, qui marche à la clarté de ta face, Yahweh!
16 and in thi name thei schulen make ful out ioye al dai; and thei schulen be enhaunsid in thi riytfulnesse.
Il se réjouit sans cesse en ton nom, et il s’élève par ta justice.
17 For thou art the glorie of the vertu of hem; and in thi good plesaunce oure horn schal be enhaunsid.
Car tu es sa gloire et sa puissance, et ta faveur élève notre force.
18 For oure takyng vp is of the Lord; and of the hooli of Israel oure kyng.
Car de Yahweh vient notre bouclier, et du Saint d’Israël notre roi.
19 Thanne thou spakist in reuelacioun to thi seyntis, and seidist, Y haue set help in the myyti; and Y haue enhaunsid the chosun man of my puple.
Tu parlas jadis dans une vision à ton bien-aimé, en disant: « J’ai prêté assistance à un héros, j’ai élevé un jeune homme du milieu du peuple.
20 I foond Dauid, my seruaunt; Y anoyntide hym with myn hooli oile.
J’ai trouvé David, mon serviteur, je l’ai oint de mon huile sainte.
21 For myn hond schal helpe him; and myn arm schal conferme hym.
Ma main sera constamment avec lui, et mon bras le fortifiera.
22 The enemye schal no thing profite in him; and the sone of wickidnesse schal not `ley to, for to anoye him.
« L’ennemi ne le surprendra pas, et le fils d’iniquité ne l’emportera pas sur lui.
23 And Y schal sle hise enemyes fro his face; and Y schal turne in to fliyt hem that haten hym.
J’écraserai devant lui ses adversaires, et je frapperai ceux qui le haïssent.
24 And my treuthe and mercy schal be with him; and his horn schal be enhaunsid in my name.
Ma fidélité et ma bonté seront avec lui, et par mon nom grandira sa puissance.
25 And Y schal sette his hond in the see; and his riyt hoond in flodis.
J’étendrai sa main sur la mer et sa droite sur les fleuves.
26 He schal inwardli clepe me, Thou art my fadir; my God, and the vptaker of myn heelthe.
« Il m’invoquera: Tu es mon père, mon Dieu et le rocher de mon salut.
27 And Y schal sette him the firste gendrid sone; hiyer than the kyngis of erthe.
Et moi je ferai de lui le premier-né, le plus élevé des rois de la terre.
28 With outen ende Y schal kepe my merci to hym; and my testament feithful to him.
Je lui conserverai ma bonté à jamais, et mon alliance lui sera fidèle.
29 And Y schal sette his seed in to the world of world; and his trone as the daies of heuene.
J’établirai sa postérité pour jamais, et son trône aura les jours des cieux.
30 Forsothe if hise sones forsaken my lawe; and goen not in my domes.
« Si ses fils abandonnent ma loi, et ne marchent pas selon mes ordonnances;
31 If thei maken vnhooli my riytfulnessis; and kepen not my comaundementis.
s’ils violent mes préceptes, et n’observent pas mes commandements;
32 I schal visite in a yerde the wickidnessis of hem; and in betyngis the synnes of hem.
je punirai de la verge leurs transgressions, et par des coups leurs iniquités;
33 But Y schal not scatere my mercy fro hym; and in my treuthe Y schal not anoye hym.
mais je ne lui retirerai pas ma bonté, et je ne ferai pas mentir ma fidélité.
34 Nethir Y schal make vnhooli my testament; and Y schal not make voide tho thingis that comen forth of my lippis.
« Je ne violerai pas mon alliance, et je ne changerai pas la parole sortie de mes lèvres.
35 Onys Y swoor in myn hooli;
Je l’ai juré une fois par ma sainteté; non, je ne mentirai pas à David.
36 Y schal not lie to Dauid, his seed schal dwelle with outen ende.
Sa postérité subsistera éternellement, son trône sera devant moi comme le soleil;
37 And his trone as sunne in my siyt, and as a perfit mone with outen ende; and a feithful witnesse in heuene.
comme la lune, il est établi pour toujours, et le témoin qui est au ciel est fidèle. » — Séla.
38 But thou hast put awei, and hast dispisid; and hast dilaied thi crist.
Et toi, tu as rejeté, et tu as dédaigné, et tu t’es irrité contre ton Oint!
39 Thou hast turned awei the testament of thi seruaunt; thou madist vnhooli his seyntuarie in erthe.
Tu as pris en dégoût l’alliance avec son serviteur, tu as jeté à terre son diadème profané.
40 Thou distriedist alle the heggis therof; thou hast set the stidefastnesse therof drede.
Tu as renversé toutes ses murailles, tu as mis en ruines ses forteresses.
41 Alle men passynge bi the weie rauyschiden him; he is maad schenschipe to hise neiyboris.
Tous les passants le dépouillent; il est devenu l’opprobre de ses voisins.
42 Thou hast enhaunsid the riythond of men oppressinge him; thou hast gladid alle hise enemyes.
Tu as élevé la droite de ses oppresseurs, tu as réjoui tous ses ennemis.
43 Thou hast turned awei the help of his swerd; and thou helpidist not hym in batel.
Tu as fait retourner en arrière le tranchant de son glaive, et tu ne l’as pas soutenu dans le combat.
44 Thou destriedist him fro clensing; and thou hast hurtlid doun his seete in erthe.
Tu l’as dépouillé de sa splendeur, et tu as jeté par terre son trône.
45 Thou hast maad lesse the daies of his time; thou hast bisched him with schenschip.
Tu as abrégé les jours de sa jeunesse, et tu l’as couvert d’ignominie. — Séla.
46 Lord, hou longe turnest thou awei in to the ende; schal thin ire brenne out as fier?
Jusques à quand, Yahweh, te cacheras-tu pour toujours, et ta fureur s’embrasera-t-elle comme le feu?
47 Bithenke thou what is my substaunce; for whether thou hast ordeyned veynli alle the sones of men?
Rappelle-toi la brièveté de ma vie, et pour quelle vanité tu as créé les fils de l’homme!
48 Who is a man, that schal lyue, and schal not se deth; schal delyuere his soule fro the hond of helle? (Sheol h7585)
Quel est le vivant qui ne verra pas la mort, qui soustraira son âme au pouvoir du schéol? — Séla. (Sheol h7585)
49 Lord, where ben thin elde mercies; as thou hast swore to Dauid in thi treuthe?
Où sont, Seigneur, tes bontés d’autrefois, que tu juras à David dans ta fidélité?
50 Lord, be thou myndeful of the schenschipe of thi seruauntis, of many hethene men; whiche Y helde togidere in my bosum.
Souviens-toi, Seigneur, de l’opprobre de tes serviteurs; souviens-toi que je porte dans mon sein les outrages de tant de peuples nombreux;
51 Whiche thin enemyes, Lord, diden schenschipfuli; for thei dispisiden the chaungyng of thi crist.
souviens-toi des outrages de tes ennemis, Yahweh, de leurs outrages contre les pas de ton Oint.
52 Blessid be the Lord with outen ende; be it don, be it don.
