Psalms 8

1 To the ouercomere, for pressours, the salm of Dauid. Lord, thou art oure Lord; thi name is ful wonderful in al erthe. For thi greet doyng is reisid, aboue heuenes.

برای رهبر سرایندگان: مزمور داوود، در مایۀ گیتّیت. ای خداوند، ای خداوند ما، شکوه نام تو سراسر زمین را فرا گرفته است! عظمت تو از آسمانها نیز فراتر رفته است.

2 Of the mouth of yonge children, not spekynge and soukynge mylk, thou madist perfitli heriyng, for thin enemyes; that thou destrie the enemy and avengere.

کودکان و شیرخوارگان، زبان به ستایش تو می‌گشایند و دشمنانت را سرافکنده و خاموش می‌سازند.

3 For Y schal se thin heuenes, the werkis of thi fyngris; the moone and sterris, whiche thou hast foundid.

وقتی به آسمان تو و به ماه و ستارگانی که آفریده‌ای نگاه می‌کنم،

4 What is a man, that thou art myndeful of hym; ethir the sone of a virgyn, for thou visitist hym?

می‌گویم انسان چیست که تو به فکرش باشی، و پسر انسان، که او را مورد لطف خود قرار دهی؟

5 Thou hast maad hym a litil lesse than aungels; thou hast corouned hym with glorie and onour,

تو مقام او را فقط اندکی پایین‌تر از فرشتگان قرار دادی و تاج عزت و احترام را بر سر وی نهادی.

6 and hast ordeyned hym aboue the werkis of thin hondis.

او را بر تمام خلقت خود گماردی و همه چیز را زیر فرمان او درآوردی:

7 Thou hast maad suget alle thingis vndur hise feet; alle scheep and oxis, ferthermore and the beestis of the feeld;

گوسفندان و گاوان، حیوانات وحشی،

8 the briddis of the eir, and the fischis of the see; that passen bi the pathis of the see.

پرندگان آسمان، ماهیان دریا و جاندارانی که در آبها زندگی می‌کنند.

9 Lord, `thou art oure Lord; thi name `is wondurful in al erthe.

ای یهوه، خداوند ما، شکوه نام تو سراسر زمین را فرا گرفته است.
