Psalms 140

1 To victorie, the salm of Dauith. Lord, delyuere thou me fro an yuel man; delyuere thou me fro a wickid man.

برای رهبر سرایندگان. مزمور داوود. ای خداوند، مرا از دست مردان شرور نجات ده! مرا از دست ظالمان محفوظ نگاه دار!

2 Whiche thouyten wickidnesses in the herte; al dai thei ordeyneden batels.

آنها تنها به شرارت می‌اندیشند و همواره در فکر بر پا کردن نزاع هستند.

3 Thei scharpiden her tungis as serpentis; the venym of snakis vndir the lippis of hem.

زبانشان مانند نیش مار سمی تند و تیز است و زهر مار از لبانشان می‌چکد.

4 Lord, kepe thou me fro the hond of the synnere; and delyuere thou me fro wickid men. Which thouyten to disseyue my goyngis;

ای خداوند، مرا از دست مردان شرور محفوظ نگه دار. مرا از دست مردان ظالم که برای سرنگونی من نقشه می‌کشند، حفظ فرما.

5 proude men hidden a snare to me. And thei leiden forth cordis in to a snare; thei settiden sclaundir to me bisidis the weie.

مردان متکبر بر سر راه من دام می‌گذارند، بندهای تور خود را پهن می‌کنند تا مرا گرفتار سازند.

6 I seide to the Lord, Thou art mi God; Lord, here thou the vois of my biseching.

ای خداوند، من تو را خدای خود می‌دانم. فریاد مرا بشنو و به داد من برس.

7 Lord, Lord, the vertu of myn heelthe; thou madist schadowe on myn heed in the dai of batel.

ای یهوه، خداوند من، تو قوت و نجات من هستی. تو سر مرا در روز جنگ محفوظ داشتی.

8 Lord, bitake thou not me fro my desire to the synnere; thei thouyten ayens me, forsake thou not me, lest perauenture thei ben enhaunsid.

ای خداوند، نگذار بدکاران به مراد دل خود برسند و کامیاب شده، مغرور شوند.

9 The heed of the cumpas of hem; the trauel of her lippis schal hile hem.

بگذار آنچه بر ضد من اندیشیده‌اند بر سر خودشان بیاید.

10 Colis schulen falle on hem, thou schalt caste hem doun in to fier; in wretchidnessis thei schulen not stonde.

ای کاش پاره‌های آتش بر سرشان بریزد و آنها را بسوزاند، ای کاش به چاه عمیق افکنده شوند و هرگز از آن بیرون نیایند.

11 A man a greet ianglere schal not be dressid in erthe; yuels schulen take an vniust man in perisching.

ای کاش آنان که به ناحق به دیگران تهمت می‌زنند، کامیاب نشوند. ای کاش شخص ظالم به‌وسیلۀ ظلم و شرارت خودش نابود شود.

12 I haue knowe, that the Lord schal make dom of a nedi man; and the veniaunce of pore men.

خداوندا، می‌دانم که تو به داد ستمدیدگان خواهی رسید و حق آنان را از ظالمان خواهی گرفت.

13 Netheles iust men schulen knouleche to thi name; and riytful men schulen dwelle with thi cheer.

ای خداوند، عادلان نام تو را ستایش خواهند کرد و صالحان در حضور تو خواهند زیست.
