Psalms 81
1 To the chief Musician upon Gittith, [A Psalm] of Asaph. Sing aloud to God our strength: make a joyful noise to the God of Jacob.
Para el músico principal. En un instrumento de Gath. Por Asaf. ¡Canta en voz alta a Dios, nuestra fuerza! ¡Haz un grito de júbilo al Dios de Jacob!
2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
Eleva una canción, y trae aquí la pandereta, la agradable lira con el arpa.
3 Blow the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
Toca la trompeta en la Luna Nueva, en la luna llena, en nuestro día de fiesta.
4 For this [was] a statute for Israel, [and] a law of the God of Jacob.
Porque es un estatuto para Israel, una ordenanza del Dios de Jacob.
5 This he ordained in Joseph [for] a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: [where] I heard a language [that] I understood not.
Lo designó en José para un pacto, cuando salió sobre la tierra de Egipto, Oí un idioma que no conocía.
6 I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.
“Quité su hombro de la carga. Sus manos se liberaron de la cesta.
7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. (Selah)
Llamaste a la angustia, y te libré. Te respondí en el lugar secreto del trueno. Te probé en las aguas de Meribah”. (Selah)
8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify to thee; O Israel, if thou wilt hearken to me;
“Oíd, pueblo mío, y yo os daré testimonio, ¡Israel, si me escuchas!
9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
No habrá en ti ningún dios extraño, ni adorarás a ningún dios extranjero.
10 I [am] the LORD thy God who brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
Yo soy Yahvé, tu Dios, que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto. Abre bien tu boca y la llenaré.
11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would not obey me.
Pero mi pueblo no escuchó mi voz. Israel no deseaba nada de mí.
12 So I gave them up to their own hearts lust: [and] they walked in their own counsels.
Así que los dejé ir tras la terquedad de sus corazones, para que puedan caminar en sus propios consejos.
13 O that my people had hearkened to me, [and] Israel had walked in my ways!
Oh, que mi pueblo me escuche, para que Israel siga mis caminos.
14 I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.
Pronto sometería a sus enemigos, y volver mi mano contra sus adversarios.
15 The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves to him: and their time should have endured for ever.
Los que odian a Yahvé se acobardan ante él, y su castigo duraría para siempre.
16 He would have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock I should have satisfied thee.
Pero también los habría alimentado con lo más fino del trigo. Te saciaré con miel de la roca”.
