< 2 Peter 1 >

1 Simon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received the same precious faith as we have received, faith in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.
Simoni Peteru, ìránṣẹ́ àti aposteli Jesu Kristi, Sí àwọn tí ó gba irú iyebíye ìgbàgbọ́ kan náà pẹ̀lú wá nínú òdodo Ọlọ́run wa àti ti Jesu Kristi Olùgbàlà:
2 May grace and peace increase in measure in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
Kí oore-ọ̀fẹ́ àti àlàáfíà máa bí sí i fún yín nínú ìmọ̀ Ọlọ́run àti ti Jesu Olúwa wa.
3 All the things concerning divine power for life and godliness have been given to us through the knowledge of God, who called us through his own glory and excellence.
Bí agbára rẹ̀ bí Ọlọ́run ti fún wa ní ohun gbogbo tí a nílò fún ṣe ti ìyè àti ti ìwà-bí-Ọlọ́run, nípa ìmọ̀ ẹni tí ó pè wá nípa Ògo àti ìṣeun rẹ̀.
4 Through these, he gave us precious and great promises, so that you might be sharers in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world that is caused by evil desires.
Nípa èyí tí ó fi àwọn ìlérí rẹ̀ tí ó tóbi púpọ̀ tí ó ṣe iyebíye fún wa: pé nípa ìwọ̀nyí ni kí ẹ̀yin lè di alábápín nínú àbùdá ti Ọlọ́run, nígbà tí ẹ̀yin bá ti yọ kúrò nínú ìbàjẹ́ tí ó ń bẹ nínú ayé nípa ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́.
5 For this reason, do your best to add goodness to your faith; and to goodness add knowledge;
Àti nítorí ìdí èyí, ẹ máa ṣe àìsimi gbogbo, ẹ fi ìwà rere kún ìgbàgbọ́, àti ìmọ̀ kún ìwà rere;
6 to knowledge add self-control; to self-control add endurance; to endurance add godliness;
àti àìrékọjá kún ìmọ̀; àti sùúrù kún àìrékọjá; àti ìwà-bí-Ọlọ́run kún sùúrù.
7 to godliness add brotherly affection; and to brotherly affection add love.
Àti ìfẹ́ ọmọnìkejì kún ìwà-bí-Ọlọ́run; àti ìfẹ́ni kún ìfẹ́ ọmọnìkejì.
8 If these things are in you and grow in you, you will not be barren or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Nítorí bí ẹ̀yin bá ní nǹkan wọ̀nyí tí wọ́n bá sì pọ̀, wọn kì yóò jẹ́ kí ẹ ṣe ọ̀lẹ tàbí aláìléso nínú ìmọ̀ Olúwa wa Jesu Kristi.
9 But whoever lacks these things is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten he has been cleansed from his past sins.
Ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó bá ṣe aláìní nǹkan wọ̀nyí, kò lè ríran ní òkèèrè, ó fọjú, ó sì ti gbàgbé pé a ti wẹ òun nù kúrò nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ̀ àtijọ́.
10 Therefore, brothers, do your best to make your calling and election sure, for if you do these things, you will not stumble.
Nítorí náà, ará ẹ túbọ̀ máa ṣe àìsimi láti sọ ìpè àti yíyàn yín di dájúdájú, nítorí bí ẹ̀yin bá ń ṣe nǹkan wọ̀nyí, ẹ̀yin kì yóò ṣubú.
11 In this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (aiōnios g166)
Nítorí báyìí ni a ó pèsè fún yín lọ́pọ̀lọ́pọ̀ láti wọ ìjọba àìnípẹ̀kun ti Olúwa àti Olùgbàlà wa Jesu Kristi. (aiōnios g166)
12 Therefore I will always be ready to remind you of these things, although you know them, and although you are strong in the truth you now have.
Nítorí náà, èmi ó máa rán yin létí àwọn nǹkan wọ̀nyí nígbà gbogbo, bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé ẹ̀yin ti mọ̀ wọ́n, tí ẹsẹ̀ yín sì múlẹ̀ nínú òtítọ́ tí ẹ ní báyìí.
13 It is proper for me to think, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by way of reminder.
Èmi sì rò pé ó tọ́ láti máa mú wọn wá sí ìrántí yín, níwọ̀n ìgbà tí èmí ba ń bẹ nínú àgọ́ ara yìí.
14 For I know that the putting off of my tent will be soon, because our Lord Jesus Christ has revealed this to me.
Bí èmi ti mọ̀ pé, bíbọ́ àgọ́ ara mi yìí sílẹ̀ kù sí dẹ̀dẹ̀, àní, bí Olúwa wa Jesu Kristi ti fihàn mí.
15 I will make every effort to see that after my departure you may be always able to remember these things.
Èmi ó sì máa ṣaápọn pẹ̀lú, kí ẹ̀yin lè máa rántí nǹkan wọ̀nyí nígbà gbogbo lẹ́yìn ikú mi.
16 For we did not follow cleverly invented myths when we made known to you the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
Nítorí kì í ṣe bí ẹni tí ó ń tọ ìtàn asán lẹ́yìn tí a fi ọgbọ́nkọ́gbọ́n là sílẹ̀, nígbà tí àwa sọ fún yín ní ti agbára àti wíwá Jesu Kristi Olúwa, ṣùgbọ́n ẹlẹ́rìí ọláńlá rẹ̀ ni àwa jẹ́.
17 For he received honor and glory from God the Father when a voice was brought to him by the Majestic Glory saying, “This is my beloved Son, with him I am well pleased.”
Nítorí tí Ó gba ọlá àti ògo láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run Baba, nígbà tí irú ohùn yìí fọ̀ sí i láti inú ògo ńlá náà wá pé, “Èyí ni àyànfẹ́ ọmọ mi, ẹni tí inú mi dùn sí gidigidi.”
18 We ourselves heard this voice brought from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
Àwa pẹ̀lú sì gbọ́ ohun yìí tí ó ti ọ̀run wá nígbà tí àwa wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ ní orí òkè mímọ́ náà.
19 For we have this prophetic word made more sure, and you do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
Àwa sì ní ìfẹsẹ̀múlẹ̀ ọ̀rọ̀ àwọn wòlíì dunjúdunjú sí i, èyí tí ó yẹ kí ẹ kíyèsi gẹ́gẹ́ bí fìtílà tó ń mọ́lẹ̀ níbi tí òkùnkùn gbé wà, títí ilẹ̀ yóò fi mọ́, tí ìràwọ̀ òwúrọ̀ yóò sì yọ lọ́kàn yín.
20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy comes from someone's own interpretation.
Ju gbogbo rẹ̀ lọ, kí ẹ ní òye yìí pé kò sí àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ ìwé mímọ́ kankan tí ó wáyé nípa ìtumọ̀ wòlíì fún rara rẹ̀.
21 For no prophecy was ever brought by the will of man, but men spoke from God when they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Nítorí àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ kan kò ti ipá ìfẹ́ ènìyàn wá rí; ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ènìyàn ń sọ̀rọ̀ láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run bí a ti ń darí wọn láti ọwọ́ Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ wá.
