Ephesians 4
1 I therefore, a prisoner in our Lord, beseech of you, that ye walk, (as it becometh the calling wherewith ye are called, )
Rogo-vos, pois, eu, o preso do Senhor, que andeis como é digno da vocação com que sois chamados,
2 with all lowliness of mind, and quietness, and long suffering; and that ye be forbearing one towards another, in love.
Com toda a humildade e mansidão, com longanimidade, suportando-vos uns aos outros em amor,
3 And be ye solicitous to keep the unity of the Spirit, in a bond of peace;
Procurando guardar a unidade de espírito pelo vínculo da paz.
4 so that ye may become one body, and one Spirit; even as ye are called unto one hope of your calling.
Há um só corpo e um só espírito, como também fostes chamados em uma só esperança da vossa vocação;
5 For, the Lord is one, and the faith one, and the baptism one;
Um só Senhor, uma só fé, um só batismo;
6 and one God is the Father of all, and over all, and by all, and in us all.
Um só Deus e Pai de todos, o qual é sobre todos, e por todos e em todos.
7 And to each of us grace is given, according to the measure of the gift of the Messiah.
Porém a graça é dada a cada um de nós segundo a medida do dom de Cristo.
8 Wherefore it is said: He ascended on high, and carried captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.
Pelo que diz: Subindo ao alto, levou cativo o cativeiro, e deu dons aos homem.
9 Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also previously descended to the interior regions of the earth?
Ora, isto, que subiu, que é, senão que também antes tinha descido às partes mais baixas da terra?
10 He who descended, is also the same that ascended up, high above all the heavens, that he might fulfill all things.
Aquele que desceu é também o mesmo que subiu acima de todos os céus, para cumprir todas as coisas.
11 And he gave some, legates; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers:
E ele mesmo deu uns para apóstolos, e outros para profetas, e outros para evangelistas, e outros para pastores e doutores,
12 for perfecting the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edification of the body of the Messiah;
Para aperfeiçoamento dos santos, para obra do ministério, para edificação do corpo de Cristo;
13 until we all become one and the same, in faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, and one complete man according to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Messiah:
Até que todos cheguemos à unidade da fé, e ao conhecimento do Filho de Deus, a varão perfeito, à medida da estatura completa de Cristo.
14 and that we might not be children, agitated and turned about by every wind of the crafty doctrines of men who plot to seduce by their subtilty:
Para que não sejamos mais meninos, inconstantes, levados em roda de todo o vento de doutrina, pelo engano dos homens que com astúcia enganam fraudulosamente.
15 but that we might be established in our love; and that every thing in us might progress in the Messiah, who is the head:
Antes, seguindo a verdade em caridade, cresçamos em tudo naquele que é a cabeça, Cristo.
16 and from him it is, the whole body is framed together and compacted by all the junctures, according to the gift that is imparted by measure to each member, for the growth of the body; that his edifice may be perfected in love.
Do qual todo o corpo, bem ajustado, e ligado pelo que todas as juntas lhe subministram, segundo a operação de cada parte na sua medida, toma aumento do corpo, para sua edificação em amor.
17 And this I say, and testify in the Lord, that henceforth ye walk not as the other Gentiles, who walk in the vanity of their mind:
De sorte que digo isto, e testifico no Senhor, para que não andeis mais como andam também os outros gentios, na vaidade do seu sentido,
18 and they are dark in their understandings, and are alienated from the life of God, because there is not in them knowledge, and because of the blindness of their heart.
Entenebrecidos no entendimento, separados da vida de Deus pela ignorância que há neles, pela dureza do seu coração:
19 They have cut off their hope, and have given themselves over to lasciviousness, and to the practice of all uncleanness in their greediness.
Os quais, havendo perdido todo o sentimento, se entregaram à dissolução, para com avidez cometterem toda a impureza.
20 But ye have not so learned the Messiah;
Mas vós não aprendestes assim a Cristo,
21 if ye have truly heard him, and by him have learned as the truth is in Jesus.
Se é que o tendes ouvido, e nele fostes ensinados, como a verdade está, em Jesus;
22 But ye have learned, that ye should lay aside your former practices, the old man that is corrupted with the lusts of error;
Que, quanto ao trato passado vos despojeis do velho homem, que se corrompe pelas concupiscências do engano;
23 and should be renewed in the spirit of your minds;
E vos renoveis no espírito do vosso sentido;
24 and should put on the new man, that is created by God in righteousness and in the holiness of truth.
E vos vistais do novo homem, que segundo Deus é criado em verdadeira justiça e santidade.
25 Wherefore, put away from you lying, and speak ye the truth each with his neighbor; for we are members one of another.
Pelo que deixai a mentira, e falai a verdade cada um com o seu próximo; porque somos membros uns dos outros.
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: and let not the sun go down upon your wrath.
Irai-vos, e não pequeis; não se ponha o sol sobre a vossa ira.
27 And give no place to the Accuser.
Não deis lugar ao diabo.
28 And let him that stole, steal no more; but let him labor with his hands, and do good acts; that he may have to give to him who needeth.
Aquele que furtava, não furte mais; antes trabalhe, obrando com suas mãos o que é bom, para que tenha que repartir com o que tiver necessidade.
29 Let no hateful language come from your mouth, but that which is decorous, and useful for edification, that it may convey grace to those who hear.
Não saia da vossa boca nenhuma palavra torpe, mas só a que for boa para utilidade da edificação, para que dê graça aos que a ouvem.
30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed for the day of redemption.
E não entristeçais o Espírito Santo de Deus, no qual estais selados para o dia da redenção.
31 Let all bitterness, and anger, and wrath, and clamoring, and reviling, be taken from you, with all malice:
Toda a amargura, e ira, e colera, e gritaria, e blasfêmias e toda a malícia seja tirada de entre vós.
32 and be ye affectionate towards one another, and sympathetic; and forgive ye one another, as God by the Messiah hath forgiven us.
Antes sede uns para com os outros benignos, misericordiosos, perdoando-vos uns aos outros, como também Deus vos perdoou em Cristo.
