Nehemiah 1
1 [the] words of Nehemiah [the] son of Hacaliah and it was in [the] month of (Kislev *Q(k)*) year twenty and I I was in Susa the citadel.
Dits et faits de Néhémie, fils de Hachalia. Et il arriva au mois de Chisleu, de la vingtième année, comme j'étais dans Suse, la ville capitale,
2 And he came Hanani one of brothers my he and people from Judah and I asked them about the Jews the escaped remnant who they had survived from the captivity and on Jerusalem.
qu'alors vint Chanani, l'un de mes frères, ayant avec lui quelques hommes de Juda. Et je les interrogeai sur les Juifs, sur les réchappés qui étaient restés de la captivité, et sur Jérusalem.
3 And they said to me the survivors who they have survived from the captivity there in the province [are] in trouble great and in disgrace and [the] wall of Jerusalem [has been] broken down and gates its they have been burned with fire.
Et ils me dirent: Les restants qui ont survécu à la captivité sont là dans la province en une grande misère et dans l'opprobre, et le mur de Jérusalem est démoli, et ses portes brûlées au feu.
4 And it was when heard I - the words these I sat down and I wept and I mourned! days and I was fasting and praying before [the] God of the heavens.
Et lorsque j'entendis ce récit, je m'assis et pleurai, et je fus dans le deuil plusieurs jours, et je jeûnai et fis ma prière devant le Dieu des Cieux,
5 And I said I beg you O Yahweh [the] God of the heavens the God great and awesome [who] keeps the covenant and covenant loyalty to [those who] love him and to [those who] keep commandments his.
et je dis: Ah! Éternel, Dieu des Cieux, Dieu grand et redoutable, toi qui gardes ton alliance et ta grâce à ceux qui t'aiment et gardent tes commandements!
6 May it be please ear your attentive and eyes your open to listen to [the] prayer of servant your which I [am] praying before you this day by day and night on [the] people of Israel servants your and [am] confessing on [the] sins of [the] people of Israel which we have sinned to you and I and [the] house of father my we have sinned.
Que ton oreille soit donc attentive et tes yeux ouverts pour ouïr la prière de ton serviteur que je porte devant ta face à cette heure, jour et nuit pour les fils d'Israël, tes serviteurs, et la confession que je fais des péchés des enfants d'Israël, dont nous nous sommes rendus coupables envers toi; moi aussi et la maison de mon père nous avons péché.
7 Surely we have acted corruptly to you and not we have kept the commandments and the statutes and the judgments which you commanded Moses servant your.
Nous avons forfait à notre devoir envers toi, et n'avons point gardé les commandements, ni les statuts, ni les lois que tu prescrivis à Moïse, ton serviteur.
8 Remember please the word which you commanded Moses servant your saying you you will act unfaithfully I I will scatter you among the peoples.
Ah! souviens-toi de la promesse que tu as fait prononcer par Moïse, ton serviteur, en ces termes: Si vous vous rebellez, je vous disséminerai parmi les peuples;
9 And you will turn back to me and you will keep commandments my and you will observe them if it will be banished [one] your at [the] end of the heavens from there I will gather them (and I will bring them *Q(k)*) to the place where I have chosen to cause to dwell name my there.
mais si vous revenez à moi et observez mes commandements et les mettez en pratique, quand vos bannis seraient à l'extrémité des Cieux, je vous y recueillerai et vous ramènerai au lieu que j'ai choisi pour y faire résider Mon Nom.
10 And they [are] servants your and people your whom you redeemed by strength your great and by hand your mighty.
Mais ils sont tes serviteurs et ton peuple, que tu as rachetés par ton grand pouvoir et ta puissante main.
11 I beg you O Lord may it be please ear your attentive to [the] prayer of servant your and to [the] prayer of servants your delighting to fear name your and grant success! please to servant your this day and give him compassion before the man this and I I was cup bearer of the king.
Oh! Seigneur, que ton oreille soit attentive à la prière de ton serviteur, et à la prière de tes serviteurs, qui sont disposés à craindre ton Nom, et accorde aujourd'hui le succès à tes serviteurs et fais-leur trouver grâce aux yeux de cet homme. Or j'étais échanson du roi.
