Matthew 13
1 On that day, Jesus, going out of the house, was sitting near the sea:
อปรญฺจ ตสฺมินฺ ทิเน ยีศุ: สทฺมโน คตฺวา สริตฺปเต โรธสิ สมุปวิเวศฯ
2 and there were gathered unto him, large multitudes, so that, he, into a boat, entered, and was sitting, and, all the multitude, on the beach was standing.
ตตฺร ตตฺสนฺนิเธา พหุชนานำ นิวโหปสฺถิเต: ส ตรณิมารุหฺย สมุปาวิศตฺ, เตน มานวา โรธสิ สฺถิตวนฺต: ฯ
3 And he spake unto them many things, in parables, saying: Lo! the sower went forth to sow, —
ตทานีํ ส ทฺฤษฺฏานฺไตสฺตานฺ อิตฺถํ พหุศ อุปทิษฺฏวานฺฯ ปศฺยต, กศฺจิตฺ กฺฤษีวโล พีชานิ วปฺตุํ พหิรฺชคาม,
4 and, as he sowed, some, indeed, fell by the pathway, and, the birds, came, and devoured it;
ตสฺย วปนกาเล กติปยพีเชษุ มารฺคปารฺเศฺว ปติเตษุ วิหคาสฺตานิ ภกฺษิตวนฺต: ฯ
5 And, some, fell on the rocky places, where it had not much earth, —and, straightway, it sprang up, because if had no depth of earth;
อปรํ กติปยพีเชษุ โสฺตกมฺฤทฺยุกฺตปาษาเณ ปติเตษุ มฺฤทลฺปตฺวาตฺ ตตฺกฺษณาตฺ ตานฺยงฺกุริตานิ,
6 and, the sun arising, it was scorched, and, because it had no root, it withered away;
กินฺตุ รวาวุทิเต ทคฺธานิ เตษำ มูลาปฺรวิษฺฏตฺวาตฺ ศุษฺกตำ คตานิ จฯ
7 And, some, fell upon the thorns, and the thorns came up, and choked it;
อปรํ กติปยพีเชษุ กณฺฏกานำ มเธฺย ปติเตษุ กณฺฏกาเนฺยธิตฺวา ตานิ ชคฺรสุ: ฯ
8 But, some, fell upon the good ground, and did yield fruit, —this, indeed a hundred fold, and, that, sixty, and, the other, thirty.
อปรญฺจ กติปยพีชานิ อุรฺวฺวรายำ ปติตานิ; เตษำ มเธฺย กานิจิตฺ ศตคุณานิ กานิจิตฺ ษษฺฏิคุณานิ กานิจิตฺ ตฺรึศคุํณานิ ผลานิ ผลิตวนฺติฯ
9 He that hath ears, let him hear.
โศฺรตุํ ยสฺย ศฺรุตี อาสาเต ส ศฺฤณุยาตฺฯ
10 And the disciples, coming near, said to him, Wherefore, in parables, art thou speaking to them?
อนนฺตรํ ศิไษฺยราคตฺย โส'ปฺฤจฺฉฺยต, ภวตา เตภฺย: กุโต ทฺฤษฺฏานฺตกถา กถฺยเต?
11 And, he, answering, said, Because, unto you, hath it been given, to get to know the sacred secrets of the kingdom of the heavens, —whereas, unto them, hath it not been given.
ตต: ส ปฺรตฺยวทตฺ, สฺวรฺคราชฺยสฺย นิคูฒำ กถำ เวทิตุํ ยุษฺมภฺยํ สามรฺถฺยมทายิ, กินฺตุ เตโภฺย นาทายิฯ
12 For, whosoever hath, it shall be given, to him, and he shall be made to abound, —but, whoever hath not, even what he hath, shall be taken from him?
ยสฺมาทฺ ยสฺยานฺติเก วรฺทฺธเต, ตสฺมาเยว ทายิษฺยเต, ตสฺมาตฺ ตสฺย พาหุลฺยํ ภวิษฺยติ, กินฺตุ ยสฺยานฺติเก น วรฺทฺธเต, ตสฺย ยตฺ กิญฺจนาเสฺต, ตทปิ ตสฺมาทฺ อาทายิษฺยเตฯ
13 For this reason, in parables, unto them, do I speak, —because, seeing, they see not, and, hearing, they hear not, —neither do they understand.
เต ปศฺยนฺโตปิ น ปศฺยนฺติ, ศฺฤณฺวนฺโตปิ น ศฺฤณฺวนฺติ, พุธฺยมานา อปิ น พุธฺยนฺเต จ, ตสฺมาตฺ เตโภฺย ทฺฤษฺฏานฺตกถา กถฺยเตฯ
14 And, again is being fulfilled in them, the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, —They shall, surely hear, and yet will not understand, and, surely see, and yet not perceive;
ยถา กรฺไณ: โศฺรษฺยถ ยูยํ ไว กินฺตุ ยูยํ น โภตฺสฺยถฯ เนไตฺรรฺทฺรกฺษฺยถ ยูยญฺจ ปริชฺญาตุํ น ศกฺษฺยถฯ เต มานุษา ยถา ไนว ปริปศฺยนฺติ โลจไน: ฯ กรฺไณ รฺยถา น ศฺฤณฺวนฺติ น พุธฺยนฺเต จ มานไส: ฯ วฺยาวรฺตฺติเตษุ จิตฺเตษุ กาเล กุตฺราปิ ไตรฺชไน: ฯ มตฺตเสฺต มนุชา: สฺวสฺถา ยถา ไนว ภวนฺติ จฯ ตถา เตษำ มนุษฺยาณำ กฺริยนฺเต สฺถูลพุทฺธย: ฯ พธิรีภูตกรฺณาศฺจ ชาตาศฺจ มุทฺริตา ทฺฤศ: ฯ
15 For the heart of this people hath become dense, and, with their ears, heavily have they heard, and, their eyes, have they closed, —lest, once they should see with their eyes, and, with their ears, should hear, and, with their hearts, should understand, and return; when I would certainly heal them.
ยเทตานิ วจนานิ ยิศยิยภวิษฺยทฺวาทินา โปฺรกฺตานิ เตษุ ตานิ ผลนฺติฯ
16 But happy are, your, eyes, that they see, and your ears, that they hear;
กินฺตุ ยุษฺมากํ นยนานิ ธนฺยานิ, ยสฺมาตฺ ตานิ วีกฺษนฺเต; ธนฺยาศฺจ ยุษฺมากํ ศพฺทคฺรหา: , ยสฺมาตฺ ไตรากรฺณฺยเตฯ
17 For, verily, I say unto you—Many prophets and righteous men, have coveted to see what ye see, and have not seen, and to hear what ye hear, and have not heard.
มยา ยูยํ ตถฺยํ วจามิ ยุษฺมาภิ รฺยทฺยทฺ วีกฺษฺยเต, ตทฺ พหโว ภวิษฺยทฺวาทิโน ธารฺมฺมิกาศฺจ มานวา ทิทฺฤกฺษนฺโตปิ ทฺรษฺฏุํ นาลภนฺต, ปุนศฺจ ยูยํ ยทฺยตฺ ศฺฤณุถ, ตตฺ เต ศุศฺรูษมาณา อปิ โศฺรตุํ นาลภนฺตฯ
18 Hear, ye, then, the parable of him that sowed: —
กฺฤษีวลียทฺฤษฺฏานฺตสฺยารฺถํ ศฺฤณุตฯ
19 When anyone heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, the wicked one cometh, and catcheth up that which hath been sown in his heart, —this, is he, by the pathway, sown.
มารฺคปารฺเศฺว พีชานฺยุปฺตานิ ตสฺยารฺถ เอษ: , ยทา กศฺจิตฺ ราชฺยสฺย กถำ นิศมฺย น พุธฺยเต, ตทา ปาปาตฺมาคตฺย ตทียมนส อุปฺตำ กถำ หรนฺ นยติฯ
20 And, he on the rocky places sown, the same, is he that, heareth the word, and, straightway, with joy, receiveth it;
อปรํ ปาษาณสฺถเล พีชานฺยุปฺตานิ ตสฺยารฺถ เอษ: ; กศฺจิตฺ กถำ ศฺรุไตฺวว หรฺษจิตฺเตน คฺฤหฺลาติ,
21 yet hath he no root in himself, but is, only for a season, —and, there arising, tribulation or persecution because of the word, straightway, he findeth cause of stumbling.
กินฺตุ ตสฺย มนสิ มูลาปฺรวิษฺฏตฺวาตฺ ส กิญฺจิตฺกาลมาตฺรํ สฺถิรสฺติษฺฐติ; ปศฺจาต ตตฺกถาการณาตฺ โกปิ เกฺลสฺตาฑนา วา เจตฺ ชายเต, ตรฺหิ ส ตตฺกฺษณาทฺ วิฆฺนเมติฯ
22 And, he among the thorns sown, the same, is he that, heareth the word, —and, the anxiety of the age and the deceit of riches, choke up the word, and, unfruitful, it becometh. (aiōn g165)
อปรํ กณฺฏกานำ มเธฺย พีชานฺยุปฺตานิ ตทรฺถ เอษ: ; เกนจิตฺ กถายำ ศฺรุตายำ สำสาริกจินฺตาภิ รฺภฺรานฺติภิศฺจ สา คฺรสฺยเต, เตน สา มา วิผลา ภวติฯ (aiōn g165)
23 But, he on the good ground sown, the same, is he who doth hear and understand the word, who, indeed, beareth fruit and produceth, —this, a hundred, and, that, sixty, and, the other, thirty.
อปรมฺ อุรฺวฺวรายำ พีชานฺยุปฺตานิ ตทรฺถ เอษ: ; เย ตำ กถำ ศฺรุตฺวา วุธฺยนฺเต, เต ผลิตา: สนฺต: เกจิตฺ ศตคุณานิ เกจิต ษษฺฏิคุณานิ เกจิจฺจ ตฺรึศทฺคุณานิ ผลานิ ชนยนฺติฯ
24 Another parable, put he before them, saying—The kingdom of the heavens hath become like a man sowing good seed in his field;
อนนฺตรํ โสปราเมกำ ทฺฤษฺฏานฺตกถามุปสฺถาปฺย เตภฺย: กถยามาส; สฺวรฺคียราชฺยํ ตาทฺฤเศน เกนจิทฺ คฺฤหเสฺถโนปมียเต, เยน สฺวียกฺเษเตฺร ปฺรศสฺตพีชาเนฺยาปฺยนฺตฯ
25 and, while men were sleeping, his enemy came, and sowed over darnel, in among the wheat, —and away he went.
กินฺตุ กฺษณทายำ สกลโลเกษุ สุปฺเตษุ ตสฺย ริปุราคตฺย เตษำ โคธูมพีชานำ มเธฺย วนฺยยวมพีชานฺยุปฺตฺวา ววฺราชฯ
26 And, when the blade shot up, and brought forth, fruit, then, appeared, the darnel also.
ตโต ยทา พีเชโภฺย'งฺกรา ชายมานา: กณิศานิ ฆฺฤตวนฺต: ; ตทา วนฺยยวสานฺยปิ ทฺฤศฺยมานานฺยภวนฺฯ
27 And the servants of the householder, coming near, said to him, —Sir! was it not, good seed, thou didst sow in thy field? Whence then hath it, darnel?
ตโต คฺฤหสฺถสฺย ทาเสยา อาคมฺย ตไสฺม กถยาญฺจกฺรุ: , เห มเหจฺฉ, ภวตา กึ เกฺษเตฺร ภทฺรพีชานิ เนาปฺยนฺต? ตถาเตฺว วนฺยยวสานิ กฺฤต อายนฺ?
28 And he said unto them—An enemy, hath, done this. And they say, unto him—Wilt thou, then, that we go and collect it?
ตทานีํ เตน เต ปฺรติคทิตา: , เกนจิตฺ ริปุณา กรฺมฺมทมการิฯ ทาเสยา: กถยามาสุ: , วยํ คตฺวา ตานฺยุตฺปายฺย กฺษิปาโม ภวต: กีทฺฤศีจฺฉา ชายเต?
29 And, he, saith—Nay! lest, at any time, while collecting the darnel, ye uproot, along with it, the wheat:
เตนาวาทิ, นหิ, ศงฺเก'หํ วนฺยยวโสตฺปาฏนกาเล ยุษฺมาภิไสฺต: สากํ โคธูมา อปฺยุตฺปาฏิษฺยนฺเตฯ
30 Suffer both to grow together until the harvest, and at, harvest time, I will say unto the reapers, —Collect ye first, the darnel, and bind it into bundles, with a view to the burning it up; but, the wheat, be gathering it into my barn.
อต: ศฺสฺยกรฺตฺตนกาลํ ยาวทฺ อุภยานฺยปิ สห วรฺทฺธนฺตำ, ปศฺจาตฺ กรฺตฺตนกาเล กรฺตฺตกานฺ วกฺษฺยามิ, ยูยมาเทา วนฺยยวสานิ สํคฺฤหฺย ทาหยิตุํ วีฏิกา พทฺวฺวา สฺถาปยต; กินฺตุ สรฺเวฺว โคธูมา ยุษฺมาภิ รฺภาณฺฑาคารํ นีตฺวา สฺถาปฺยนฺตามฺฯ
31 Another parable, put he before them, saying—The kingdom of the heavens is like unto, a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field;
อนนฺตรํ โสปราเมกำ ทฺฤษฺฏานฺตกถามุตฺถาปฺย เตภฺย: กถิตวานฺ กศฺจินฺมนุช: สรฺษปพีชเมกํ นีตฺวา สฺวกฺเษตฺร อุวาปฯ
32 which, indeed, is, less, than all seeds, but, when grown, is greater than garden-plants, and becometh a tree, —so that the birds of heaven come, and lodge among its branches.
สรฺษปพีชํ สรฺวฺวสฺมาทฺ พีชาตฺ กฺษุทฺรมปิ สทงฺกุริตํ สรฺวฺวสฺมาตฺ ศากาตฺ พฺฤหทฺ ภวติ; ส ตาทฺฤศสฺตรุ รฺภวติ, ยสฺย ศาขาสุ นภส: ขคา อาคตฺย นิวสนฺติ; สฺวรฺคียราชฺยํ ตาทฺฤศสฺย สรฺษไปกสฺย สมมฺฯ
33 Another parable, [spake he unto them]: —The kingdom of the heavens is like, unto leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour until, the whole, was leavened.
ปุนรปิ ส อุปมากถาเมกำ เตภฺย: กถยาญฺจการ; กาจน โยษิตฺ ยตฺ กิณฺวมาทาย โทฺรณตฺรยมิตโคธูมจูรฺณานำ มเธฺย สรฺเวฺวษำ มิศฺรีภวนปรฺยฺยนฺตํ สมาจฺฉาทฺย นิธตฺตวตี, ตตฺกิณฺวมิว สฺวรฺคราชฺยํฯ
34 All these things, spake Jesus in parables, unto the multitudes, and, without a parable, was he speaking, nothing, unto them:
อิตฺถํ ยีศุ รฺมนุชนิวหานำ สนฺนิธาวุปมากถาภิเรตานฺยาขฺยานานิ กถิตวานฺ อุปมำ วินา เตภฺย: กิมปิ กถำ นากถยตฺฯ
35 that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken through the prophet, saying—I will open, in parables, my mouth, I will bring up things hidden from the foundation!
เอเตน ทฺฤษฺฏานฺตีเยน วาเกฺยน วฺยาทาย วทนํ นิชํฯ อหํ ปฺรกาศยิษฺยามิ คุปฺตวากฺยํ ปุราภวํฯ ยเทตทฺวจนํ ภวิษฺยทฺวาทินา โปฺรกฺตมาสีตฺ, ตตฺ สิทฺธมภวตฺฯ
36 Then, dismissing the multitudes, he went into the house, and his disciples came near to him, saying—Make quite plain to us the parable of the darnel of the field.
สรฺวฺวานฺ มนุชานฺ วิสฺฤชฺย ยีเศา คฺฤหํ ปฺรวิษฺเฏ ตจฺฉิษฺยา อาคตฺย ยีศเว กถิตวนฺต: , เกฺษตฺรสฺย วนฺยยวสียทฺฤษฺฏานฺตกถามฺ ภวาน อสฺมานฺ สฺปษฺฏีกฺฤตฺย วทตุฯ
37 And, he, answering, said—He that soweth the good seed, is the Son of Man;
ตต: ส ปฺรตฺยุวาจ, เยน ภทฺรพีชานฺยุปฺยนฺเต ส มนุชปุตฺร: ,
38 And, the field, is the world, and, the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom, —and, the darnel seeds, are the sons of the evil one;
เกฺษตฺรํ ชคตฺ, ภทฺรพีชานี ราชฺยสฺย สนฺตานา: ,
39 And, the enemy that sowed them, is the adversary, and, the harvest, is, the conclusion of an age, and, the reapers, are, messengers. (aiōn g165)
วนฺยยวสานิ ปาปาตฺมน: สนฺตานา: ฯ เยน ริปุณา ตานฺยุปฺตานิ ส ศยตาน: , กรฺตฺตนสมยศฺจ ชคต: เศษ: , กรฺตฺตกา: สฺวรฺคียทูตา: ฯ (aiōn g165)
40 Just, therefore, as collected is the darnel, and, with fire is burned, so, will it be in the conclusion of the age: — (aiōn g165)
ยถา วนฺยยวสานิ สํคฺฤหฺย ทาหฺยนฺเต, ตถา ชคต: เศเษ ภวิษฺยติ; (aiōn g165)
41 The Son of Man will send forth his messengers, and they will collect, out of his kingdom, all the causes of stumbling, and the doers of lawlessness,
อรฺถาตฺ มนุชสุต: สฺวำยทูตานฺ เปฺรษยิษฺยติ, เตน เต จ ตสฺย ราชฺยาตฺ สรฺวฺวานฺ วิฆฺนการิโณ'ธารฺมฺมิกโลกำศฺจ สํคฺฤหฺย
42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire: there, will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
ยตฺร โรทนํ ทนฺตฆรฺษณญฺจ ภวติ, ตตฺราคฺนิกุณฺเฑ นิกฺเษปฺสฺยนฺติฯ
43 Then, the righteous, will shine forth as the sun, in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear!
ตทานีํ ธารฺมฺมิกโลกา: เสฺวษำ ปิตู ราเชฺย ภาสฺกรอิว เตชสฺวิโน ภวิษฺยนฺติฯ โศฺรตุํ ยสฺย ศฺรุตี อาสาเต, ม ศฺฤณุยาตฺฯ
44 The kingdom of the heavens is like unto, a treasure hid in the field, which a man, finding, hid, —and, by reason of his joy, withdraweth and selleth whatsoever he hath, and buyeth that field.
อปรญฺจ เกฺษตฺรมเธฺย นิธึ ปศฺยนฺ โย โคปยติ, ตต: ปรํ สานนฺโท คตฺวา สฺวียสรฺวฺวสฺวํ วิกฺรีย ตฺตกฺเษตฺรํ กฺรีณาติ, ส อิว สฺวรฺคราชฺยํฯ
45 Again, the kingdom of the heavens is, like, unto, a merchant, seeking beautiful pearls, —
อนฺยญฺจ โย วณิกฺ อุตฺตมำ มุกฺตำ คเวษยนฺ
46 and, finding one very precious pearl, departing, he at once sold all things, whatsoever he had, and bought it.
มหารฺฆำ มุกฺตำ วิโลกฺย นิชสรฺวฺวสฺวํ วิกฺรีย ตำ กฺรีณาติ, ส อิว สฺวรฺคราชฺยํฯ
47 Again, the kingdom of the heavens is like unto, a large drag-net, cast into the sea and gathering of every kind, —
ปุนศฺจ สมุโทฺร นิกฺษิปฺต: สรฺวฺวปฺรการมีนสํคฺราหฺยานายอิว สฺวรฺคราชฺยํฯ
48 which, when it was filled, they dragged up on the beach, and, sitting down, collected the good into vessels, but, the worthless, forth they cast.
ตสฺมินฺ อานาเย ปูรฺเณ ชนา ยถา โรธสฺยุตฺโตลฺย สมุปวิศฺย ปฺรศสฺตมีนานฺ สํคฺรหฺย ภาชเนษุ นิทธเต, กุตฺสิตานฺ นิกฺษิปนฺติ;
49 So, will it be in the conclusion of the age: The messengers will come forth, and separate the wicked from among the righteous; (aiōn g165)
ตไถว ชคต: เศเษ ภวิษฺยติ, ผลต: สฺวรฺคียทูตา อาคตฺย ปุณฺยวชฺชนานำ มธฺยาตฺ ปาปิน: ปฺฤถกฺ กฺฤตฺวา วหฺนิกุณฺเฑ นิกฺเษปฺสฺยนฺติ, (aiōn g165)
50 and will cast them into the furnace of fire: there, will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
ตตฺร โรทนํ ทนฺไต รฺทนฺตฆรฺษณญฺจ ภวิษฺยต: ฯ
51 Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea!
ยีศุนา เต ปฺฤษฺฏา ยุษฺมาภิ: กิเมตานฺยาขฺยานานฺยพุธฺยนฺต? ตทา เต ปฺรตฺยวทนฺ, สตฺยํ ปฺรโภฯ
52 And, he, said unto them—Wherefore, every scribe, discipled unto the kingdom of the heavens, is like unto a householder, who putteth forth out of his treasure, things new and old.
ตทานีํ ส กถิตวานฺ, นิชภาณฺฑาคาราตฺ นวีนปุราตนานิ วสฺตูนิ นิรฺคมยติ โย คฺฤหสฺถ: ส อิว สฺวรฺคราชฺยมธิ ศิกฺษิตา: สฺวรฺว อุปเทษฺฏาร: ฯ
53 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these parables, he removed from thence;
อนนฺตรํ ยีศุเรตา: สรฺวฺวา ทฺฤษฺฏานฺตกถา: สมาปฺย ตสฺมาตฺ สฺถานาตฺ ปฺรตเสฺถฯ อปรํ สฺวเทศมาคตฺย ชนานฺ ภชนภวน อุปทิษฺฏวานฺ;
54 and, coming into his own city, began teaching them in their synagogue, so that with astonishment were they being struck, and were saying—Whence, hath, this one, this wisdom, and the mighty works?
เต วิสฺมยํ คตฺวา กถิตวนฺต เอตไสฺยตาทฺฤศํ ชฺญานมฺ อาศฺจรฺยฺยํ กรฺมฺม จ กสฺมาทฺ อชายต?
55 Is not, this one, the carpenter’s, son? Is not, his mother, called Mary, and are not his brethren—James and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas?
กิมยํ สูตฺรธารสฺย ปุโตฺร นหิ? เอตสฺย มาตุ รฺนาม จ กึ มริยมฺ นหิ? ยากุพฺ-ยูษผฺ-ศิโมนฺ-ยิหูทาศฺจ กิเมตสฺย ภฺราตโร นหิ?
56 and, his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence, then hath, this one, all these things?
เอตสฺย ภคินฺยศฺจ กิมสฺมากํ มเธฺย น สนฺติ? ตรฺหิ กสฺมาทยเมตานิ ลพฺธวานฺ? อิตฺถํ ส เตษำ วิฆฺนรูโป พภูว;
57 And they began to find cause of stumbling in him. But, Jesus, said unto them—A prophet is not without honour, save in his city, and in his house.
ตโต ยีศุนา นิคทิตํ สฺวเทศียชนานำ มธฺยํ วินา ภวิษฺยทฺวาที กุตฺราปฺยนฺยตฺร นาสมฺมาโนฺย ภวตีฯ
58 And he did not, there, many mighty works, because of their unbelief.
เตษามวิศฺวาสเหโต: ส ตตฺร สฺถาเน พหฺวาศฺจรฺยฺยกรฺมฺมาณิ น กฺฤตวานฺฯ
