Ezra 10

1 Now, when Ezra had prayed and when he had made confession, weeping and casting himself down, before the house of God, there gathered unto him out of Israel, an exceeding large convocation—men and women and children, for the people wept with a very bitter weeping.

Y orando Ésdras, y confesando, llorando, y echándose delante de la casa de Dios, juntáronse a él una muy grande congregación de Israel, varones, y mujeres, y niños, y lloraba el pueblo de gran lloro.

2 Then responded Shecaniah son of Jehiel of the sons of Elam, and said unto Ezra, We, have been faithful with our God, and have married foreign women from among the peoples of the land, —yet, now, there is hope for Israel concerning this thing.

Y respondió Sequenías, hijo de Jehiel, de los hijos de Elam, y dijo a Ésdras: Nosotros nos hemos rebelado contra nuestro Dios, que tomamos mujeres extranjeras de los pueblos de la tierra: mas esperanza hay aun para Israel sobre esto.

3 Now, therefore, let us solemnize a covenant unto our God—to put away all the women and such as have been born of them, in the counsel of my lord, and them who tremble at the commandment of our God, —and, according to the law, let it be done.

Por tanto ahora hagamos alianza con nuestro Dios, que echaremos todas las mujeres, y los nacidos de ellas, por el consejo del señor y de los que temen el mandamiento de nuestro Dios: y hágase conforme a la ley.

4 Arise, for, upon thee, resteth the thing, but, we, are with thee, —be strong, and act.

Levántate, porque a ti toca el negocio, y nosotros seremos contigo: esfuérzate, y haz.

5 Then arose Ezra and made the rulers of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel, swear to do according to this word—and they sware.

Entonces Ésdras se levantó, y juramentó a los príncipes de los sacerdotes y de los Levitas, y a todo Israel, para hacer conforme a esto: y juraron.

6 Then arose Ezra from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Jehohanan son of Eliashib, —and, when he came thither, bread, did he not eat, and, water, did he not drink, for he was mourning over the unfaithfulness of them of the Exile.

Y levantóse Ésdras de delante de la casa de Dios, y fuése a la cámara de Johanán, hijo de Eliasib, y fuése allá: no comió pan, ni bebió agua, porque se entristeció sobre la prevaricación de los de la transmigración.

7 Then made they a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem, unto all the Sons of the Exile, to gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;

E hicieron pasar pregón por Judá y por Jerusalem a todos los hijos de la transmigración, que se juntasen en Jerusalem.

8 and, whosoever should not come within three days, according to the counsel of the rulers and the elders, all his goods should be devoted, —and, himself, be separated from the convocation of them of the Exile.

Y que el que no viniese dentro de tres días conforme al acuerdo de los príncipes y de los ancianos, toda su hacienda pereciese, y él fuese apartado de la congregación de la transmigración.

9 Then were gathered together all the men of Judah and Benjamin unto Jerusalem, within three days, the same, was the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month, —and all the people remained in the broadway of the house of God, trembling concerning the thing, and because of the heavy rains.

Así fueron juntados todos los varones de Judá y de Ben-jamín en Jerusalem dentro de tres días, a los veinte del mes, el cual era el mes noveno: y sentóse todo el pueblo en la plaza de la casa de Dios temblando a causa de aquel negocio, y a causa de las lluvias.

10 Then arose Ezra the priest, and said unto them, Ye, have acted unfaithfully, and have married foreign women, —to add unto the guilt of Israel.

Y levantóse Ésdras el sacerdote, y díjoles: Vosotros habéis prevaricado, por cuanto tomasteis mujeres extrañas, añadiendo sobre el pecado de Israel.

11 Now, therefore, make confession unto Yahweh God of your fathers, and do his pleasure, —and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the foreign women.

Por tanto ahora dad confesión a Jehová Dios de vuestros padres, y hacéd su voluntad, y apartáos de los pueblos de las tierras, y de las mujeres extranjeras.

12 Then responded all the convocation and said, with a loud voice, —Thus, according to thy word concerning us, must it be done.

Y respondió toda la congregación, y dijeron a gran voz: Así se haga conforme a tu palabra.

13 Nevertheless, the people, are many, and, the season, is that of the heavy rains, and we are not able to stand outside, —and, the business, is not one for a single day, nor yet for two, for we have abundantly transgressed, in this thing.

Mas el pueblo es mucho, y el tiempo pluvioso, y no hay fuerza para estar en la calle: ni la obra es de un día ni de dos: porque somos muchos los que habemos prevaricado en este negocio.

14 Let, we beseech thee, our rulers take up their station for all the convocation, and, all who, throughout our cities, have married foreign women, let them come in at times appointed, and, with them, the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the glow of the anger of our God be turned from us, concerning this matter.

Estén ahora nuestros príncipes en toda la congregación, y cualquiera que en nuestras ciudades hubiere tomado mujeres extranjeras, venga a tiempos aplazados, y con ellos los ancianos de cada ciudad, y los jueces de ellas, hasta que apartemos de nosotros la ira del furor de nuestro Dios sobre esto.

15 Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, made a stand against this, —and, Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite, helped them.

Y Jonatán, hijo de Asahel, y Jaazias, hijo de Tecuas, fueron puestos sobre esto: y Mesullam y Sebetai Levitas les ayudaron.

16 But the Sons of the Exile, did thus, and Ezra the priest separated to himself certain men—ancestral heads by their ancestral houses, and all of them by name, —and they took their seats on the first day of the tenth month to search into the matter;

E hicieron así los hijos de la transmigración: y fueron apartados Ésdras sacerdote, y los varones cabezas de los padres, en la casa de sus padres, y todos ellos por sus nombres: y sentáronse el primer día del mes décimo para inquirir el negocio.

17 and they made an end with all the men who had married foreign women, —by the first day of the first month.

Y acabaron con todos los varones que habían tomado mujeres extranjeras al primer día del mes primero.

18 Now there were found, of the sons of the priests, who had married foreign women, —of the sons of Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah;

Y fueron hallados de los hijos de los sacerdotes que habían tomado mujeres extranjeras: de los hijos de Jesuá, hijo de Josedec, y de sus hermanos, Maasías, y Eliezer, y Jarib, y Godolías.

19 and they gave their hand, that they would put away their wives, —and, being guilty, [they offered] a ram of the flock for their guilt.

Y dieron su mano de echar sus mujeres: y los culpados, un carnero de ovejas por su expiación.

20 And, of the sons of Immer, Hanani, and Zebadiah.

Y de los hijos de Immer; Janani y Zebadías.

21 And, of the sons of Harim, Maaseiah and Elijah and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.

Y de los hijos de Harim; Maasías, y Elías, y Semeías, y Jehiel, y Ozías.

22 And, of the sons of Passhur, Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, and Elasar.

Y de los hijos de Fasur; Elioenai, Maasías, Ismael, Natanael, Jozabed, y Elaasa.

23 And, of the Levites, Jozabad and Shimei, and Kelaiah, the same, is Kelita, Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

Y de los hijos de los Levitas; Jozabed, y Semeí, y Selaias, este es Calita, Fataias, Judá, y Eliezer,

24 And, of the singers, Eliashib. And, of the doorkeepers, Shallum and Telem and Uri.

Y de los cantores; Eliasib. Y de los porteros; Sellum, y Tellem, y Urí.

25 And, of Israel, of the sons of Parosh, Ramiah and Izziah and Malchijah and Mijamin and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.

Y de Israel: de los hijos de Faros; Remeias, y Jezías, y Melquías, y Mijamín, y Eleazar, y Melquías, y Banea.

26 And, of the sons of Elam, Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Elijah.

Y de los hijos de Elam; Matanías, Zacarías, y Jehiel, y Abdi, y Jerimot, y Elia.

27 And, of the sons of Zattu, Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.

Y de los hijos de Zattu; Elioenai, Eliasib, Matanías, y Jerimot, y Zabad, y Aziza.

28 And, of the sons of Bebai, Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai.

Y de los hijos de Bebai; Johanán, Hananías, Zabbai, Atalaí.

29 And, of the sons of Bani, Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, Jeremoth.

Y de los hijos de Bani; Mesullam, Malluc, y Adaias, Jasub, y Seal, Jeramot.

30 And, of the sons of Pahath-moab, Adna and Chelal, —Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.

Y de los hijos de Pahat-moab, Adna, y Quelal, Benaías, Maasías, Matanías, Beseleel, Benvi, y Manasés.

31 And, [of] the sons of Harim, Eliezer, Isshijah, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon;

Y de los hijos de Harim; Eliezer, Jesué, Melquías, Semeías, Simeón,

32 Benjamin, Malluch, Shemariah.

Ben-jamín, Malluc, Samarías.

33 Of the sons of Hashum, Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, —Jeremai, Manasseh, Shimei.

De los hijos de Hasum: Matanai, Matata, Zabad, Elifelec, Jermai, Manasés, Semeí.

34 Of the sons of Bani, Maadai, Amram, and Uel;

De los hijos de Banni; Maadi, Amram, y Vel,

35 Benaiah, Bedeiah, Cheluhu;

Banaías, Bedías, Quelú,

36 Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib;

Vanías, Meremot, Eliasib,

37 Mettaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasu;

Matanías, Matenai, y Jaasau,

38 and Bani, and Binnui, Shimei;

Y Bani, y Binnui, Semeí,

39 and Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah;

Y Selemías, y Natán, y Adaías,

40 Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai;

Macnadebai, Sasaí, Saraí,

41 Azarel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah;

Azarel, y Selemías, Samarías,

42 Shallum, Amariah, Joseph.

Sellum, Amarias, José.

43 Of the sons of Nebo, Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, —Iddo, and Joel, Benaiah.

Y de los hijos de Nebo; Jehiel, Matatías, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, y Joel, Benaías.

44 All these, had taken foreign women, —and had begotten of them children.

Todos estos habían tomado mujeres extranjeras, y había mujeres de ellos, que habían parido hijos.
