Ephesians 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus, through God’s will, unto the saints who are [in Ephesus] and faithful in Christ Jesus, —
Paul, apôtre de Jésus-Christ par la volonté de Dieu, aux fidèles et aux croyants en Jésus-Christ qui sont à Ephèse.
2 Favour unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and Lord Jesus Christ.
Grâce et paix vous soient accordées par Dieu notre Père et par le Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
3 Blessed, be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with every spiritual blessing, in the heavenlies, in Christ,
Béni soit le Dieu et Père de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, car il nous a comblés par Christ et dans les cieux de toutes sortes de bénédictions spirituelles;
4 According as he made choice of us, in him, before the founding of a world, that we might be holy and blameless in his presence; in love,
il nous a élus en lui avant la création du monde, pour nous sanctifier et nous rendre irréprochables devant lui.
5 marking us out beforehand unto sonship, through Jesus Christ, for himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Dans son amour, il a décidé d'avance que nous serions ses enfants par Jésus-Christ; tel a été son bon plaisir, telle sa volonté.
6 Unto the praise of the glory of his favour wherewith he favoured us in the Beloved One, —
Honneur en soit à la grâce magnifique qu'il nous a faite en son bien-aimé!
7 In whom we have the redemption through his blood, the remission of our offences, according to the riches of his favour,
C'est en lui, par son sang, que nous avons la Rédemption, la rémission des péchés, tant est riche sa grâce,
8 which he made to superabound towards us; in all wisdom and prudence,
celle qu'il a répandue sur nous, en nous donnant toute sagesse et toute intelligence;
9 making known to us the sacred secret of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him, —
il nous a dévoilé le secret de sa volonté, ce dessein qu'il avait formé à part lui
10 For an administration of the fulness of the seasons, to reunite for himself (under one head) the all things in the Christ, the things upon the heavens, and the things upon the earth, in him:
(et qu'il devait faire éclater le moment venu) de tout réunir en Christ, seul chef, ce qui est sur la terre, comme ce qui est dans le ciel.
11 In whom also we were taken as an inheritance, according to the purpose of him who energiseth all things according to the counsel of his will,
C'est aussi par le Christ que nous appartenons à Dieu, désignés à cela d'avance, prédestinés par Celui qui fait tout à son gré et à sa volonté,
12 That we should be for the praise of his glory—we who had hoped beforehand in the Christ, —
pour que nous servions à le louer et à le glorifier, nous qui les premiers avons espéré en lui.
13 In whom, ye also—hearing the word of the truth, the glad-message of your salvation, —in whom also believing, —were sealed with the Spirit of the promise, the Holy [Spirit],
C'est aussi par le Christ que vous avez entendu la parole de vérité, l'Évangile qui vous sauve; enfin c'est par lui que vous avez cru et que vous avez été marqués du sceau de l'Esprit saint promis,
14 Which is an earnest of our inheritance, unto the redemption of the acquisition; —unto his glorious praise.
gage de notre héritage futur et de la Rédemption de ceux qui appartiennent à Dieu. Honneur en soit à sa gloire!
15 For this cause, I also, —having heard of the faith on your part in the Lord Jesus, and that towards all the saints,
Voilà pourquoi, moi, qui ai entendu parler de votre foi au Seigneur Jésus et de votre amour pour tous les fidèles,
16 Cease not giving thanks in your behalf, making mention in my prayers,
je ne cesse de rendre grâces pour vous et de vous nommer dans mes prières.
17 That, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, would give you a Spirit of wisdom and understanding in gaining a personal knowledge of him, —
Je demande au Dieu de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, au Père de gloire, de vous donner un esprit de sagesse et de révélation; que vous appreniez à le connaître;
18 The eyes of your heart having been enlightened, that ye may know—what is the hope of his calling, what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
qu'il éclaire les yeux de vos coeurs; que vous sachiez à quelle espérance il vous appelle; quelle est la richesse et la gloire de l'héritage offert par lui aux fidèles;
19 And what the surpassing greatness of his power unto us who believe, —according to the energy of the grasp of his might
quelle est la grandeur, l'immensité de la puissance qu'il exerce en nous les croyants, quand il fait agir la vertu de sa force.
20 which he energised in the Christ, when he raised him from among the dead, and seated him at his right hand in the heavenlies,
Il a fait agir cette force en Christ, en le ressuscitant des morts, en le plaçant à sa droite dans les cieux,
21 Over-above all principality, authority, and power, and lordship, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the coming one, (aiōn g165)
au-dessus de toute autorité, puissance, pouvoir, souveraineté, ou de tout autre titre à donner, non seulement dans ce monde, mais aussi dans l'autre; (aiōn g165)
22 And did put, all things, in subjection beneath his feet. And gave him to be head over all things unto the assembly,
«En mettant tout à ses pieds, » en le donnant comme chef suprême à l'Église,
23 Which, indeed, is his body, the fulness of him who, the all things in all, is for himself filling up.
qui est son corps, qui est le tout, qu'il remplit partout et de toutes manières.
