Proverbs 8
1 Doth not wisdom cry aloud, And understanding put forth her voice?
Mar ne kliče modrost? In razumevanje [ne] dviguje svojega glasu?
2 Upon the top of the high places, By the wayside, In the cross-ways, She taketh her station.
Stoji na vrhu visokih krajev, ob poti, na krajih steza.
3 By the side of the gates, In the entrance of the city, In the approaches to the doors, she crieth aloud.
Kliče pri velikih vratih, pri mestnem vhodu, pri vstopanju, pri vratih.
4 “To you, O men! do I call, And my voice is to the sons of men!
Vam, oh možje, kličem in moj glas je k človeškim sinovom.
5 O ye simple ones! learn wisdom, And ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart!
Oh vi preprosti, razumite modrost, in vi bedaki, bodite razumevajočega srca.
6 Hear, for I speak excellent things, And my lips utter that which is right.
Poslušajte, kajti govorila bom o odličnih stvareh in odpiranje mojih ustnic bodo prave stvari.
7 For my mouth speaketh truth, And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
Kajti moja usta bodo govorila resnico, zlobnost pa je mojim ustnicam ogabnost.
8 All the words of my mouth are in uprightness; There is nothing crooked or deceitful in them;
Vse besede mojih ust so v pravičnosti, v njih ni ničesar kljubovalnega ali sprevrženega.
9 They are all plain to the man of understanding, And right to those who find knowledge.
So čisto preproste tistemu, ki razume in pravilne tem, ki najdejo spoznanje.
10 Receive my instruction, and not silver. And knowledge rather than choice gold!
Sprejmite moje poučevanje in ne srebra in spoznanje raje kakor izbrano zlato.
11 For wisdom is better than pearls, And no precious things are to be compared with her.
Kajti modrost je boljša kakor rubini in vse stvari, ki se lahko želijo, se ne morejo primerjati k njej.
12 “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And find out the knowledge of sagacious counsels.
Jaz, modrost, prebivam z razumnostjo, odkrivam spoznanje razumnih domiselnosti.
13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride, and arrogance, and the evil way, And the deceitful mouth, do I hate.
Gospodov strah je sovražiti zlo. Ponos, aroganco, zlobno pot in kljubovalna usta sovražim.
14 Counsel is mine, and sound reason; I am understanding; I have strength.
Nasvet je moj in zdrava modrost. Jaz sem razumevanje, jaz imam moč.
15 By me kings reign, And princes decree justice.
Po meni kraljujejo kralji in princi odrejajo pravico.
16 By me princes rule, And nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
Po meni vladajo princi in plemiči, celó vsi zemeljski sodniki.
17 I love them that love me, And they who seek me early shall find me.
Ljubim tiste, ki me ljubijo in tisti, ki me iščejo zgodaj, me bodo našli.
18 Riches and honor are with me; Yea, durable riches and prosperity.
Bogastva in čast sta z menoj; da, trajna bogastva in pravičnost.
19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold. And my revenue than choice silver.
Moj sad je boljši kakor zlato; da, kakor čisto zlato in moje poplačilo kakor izbrano srebro.
20 I walk in the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of equity.
Vodim po poti pravičnosti, po sredi stezá sodbe,
21 I cause those who love me to possess substance; Yea, I fill their treasuries.
da lahko povzročim tistim, ki me ljubijo, da podedujejo imetje in jaz bom napolnila njihove zaklade.
22 “The LORD created me, the firstling of his course, Before his works, of old;
Gospod me je imel v lasti od začetka svoje poti, pred svojimi deli od davnine.
23 I was anointed from everlasting, From the beginning, even before the earth was made.
Bila sem postavljena od večnosti, od začetka ali preden je bila zemlja.
24 When as yet there were no deeps, I was brought forth. When there were no springs, abounding with water.
Ko tam ni bilo globin, sem bila rojena, ko tam ni bilo studencev, obilnih z vodo.
25 Before the mountains were settled, Yea, before the hills, I was brought forth;
Preden so bile gore nameščene, pred hribi sem bila rojena,
26 Ere yet he had made the land and the wastes, And the first of the clods of the earth.
medtem ko še ni naredil zemlje niti polj niti najvišjega dela iz prahu sveta.
27 When he framed the heavens, I was there; When he drew a circle upon the face of the deep;
Ko je pripravljal nebo, sem bila tam, ko je postavil obod na obličju globine,
28 When he made firm the sky above, And the fountains of the deep rushed forth;
ko je zgoraj osnoval oblake, ko je utrdil studence globin,
29 When he gave to the sea its bounds, that the waters should not pass their border; When he marked out the foundations of the earth, —
ko je morju dal svoj odlok, da vode ne bodo prekoračile njegove zapovedi, ko je določil temelje zemlje,
30 Then was I by him as a master-builder; I was his delight day by day, Exulting before him at all times;
tedaj sem bila poleg njega, kakor nekdo vzgojen z njim in dnevno sem bila njegovo veselje, vedno radostna pred njim,
31 Exulting in the habitable part of his earth, And my delight was with the sons of men.
radostna na naseljivem delu njegovega zemeljskega [kroga] in moja veselja so bila s človeškimi sinovi.
32 “Now, therefore, ye children, hearken to me! For happy are they who keep my ways!
Zdaj mi torej prisluhnite, oh vi otroci, kajti blagoslovljeni so tisti, ki se drže mojih poti.
33 Hear instruction, and be wise! Yea, reject it not!
Poslušajte poučevanje, bodite modri in tega ne zavrnite.
34 Happy the man who hearkeneth to me, Who watcheth day by day at my gates, Who waiteth at the posts of my doors;
Blagoslovljen je človek, ki me posluša, ki dnevno bedi pri mojih velikih vratih, ki čaka pri podbojih mojih vrat.
35 For he that findeth me findeth life, And obtaineth favor from the LORD;
Kajti kdor me najde, najde življenje in dosegel bo naklonjenost od Gospoda.
36 But he who misseth me doeth violence to himself; All they who hate me love death.”
Toda kdor zoper mene greši, škodi svoji lastni duši. Vsi tisti, ki me sovražijo, ljubijo smrt.
