Philippians 1
1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, together with the bishops and deacons:
Paweł i Tymoteusz, jako słudzy Chrystusa Jezusa, piszemy do wszystkich świętych w Filippi—wraz z przywódcami i ich pomocnikami.
2 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Niech Bóg, nasz Ojciec, i Pan, Jezus Chrystus, obdarzają was swoją łaską i pokojem!
3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you,
Za każdym razem, gdy was wspominam, dziękuję za was Bogu.
4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy
Wszyscy jesteście obecni w moich modlitwach.
5 on account of your fellowship in the cause of the gospel from the first day until now;
Począwszy od dnia, w którym usłyszeliście dobrą nowinę, aż do dziś, jesteście bowiem wiernymi współpracownikami w głoszeniu jej innym ludziom.
6 being confident of this very thing, that he who began in you a good work, will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus;
Jestem pewien, że Bóg, który rozpoczął w was to dobre dzieło, będzie je kontynuował aż do czasu powrotu Jezusa Chrystusa.
7 even as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, all of you being sharers of the grace bestowed on me.
Mam prawo tak o was myśleć, bo zajmujecie w moim sercu szczególne miejsce. Wszyscy wspieraliście mnie przecież, gdy byłem w więzieniu i gdy stawałem w obronie dobrej nowiny.
8 For God is my witness how much I long for you all in the tender affection of Christ Jesus.
A Bóg dobrze wie, jak bardzo za wami tęsknię—Jezus Chrystus wlał bowiem w moje serce ogromną miłość do was.
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all discernment;
Modlę się, aby również wasza miłość coraz bardziej wzrastała i aby prowadziła was do jeszcze większej duchowej wiedzy i rozeznania.
10 so that ye may approve the things that are most excellent, in order that ye may be pure and without offence against the day of Christ,
Dzięki temu będziecie bowiem umieli wybierać to, co najlepsze, i będziecie czyści oraz nienaganni w dniu powrotu Chrystusa.
11 being filled with the fruit of righteousness which is through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
On sprawi, że przez wasze prawe postępowanie oddacie chwałę i cześć Bogu.
12 But I wish you to know, brethren, that things with me have resulted in the furtherance of the gospel;
Przyjaciele, pragnę abyście wiedzieli, że napotkane przeze mnie przeszkody tak naprawdę pomogły tylko w głoszeniu dobrej nowiny!
13 so that my bonds have become known in connection with Christ in the whole camp of the imperial guards, and to all the rest;
Całe koszary i wszyscy dookoła wiedzą już, że zostałem uwięziony z powodu Chrystusa.
14 and that the great part of the brethren, made confident in the Lord by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
Ponadto coraz większa grupa wierzących, zachęconych moją postawą, z odwagą głosi słowo Boże, nie bojąc się nawet więzienia.
15 Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from good will.
Są jednak i tacy, którzy mówią o Chrystusie dlatego, że zazdroszczą nam owoców naszej pracy. Wielu ma jednak zupełnie czyste motywy
16 but they who are of a factious spirit preach Christ with no pure intent, thinking to stir up affliction to my bonds.
i opowiada ludziom o Jezusie z miłości do Niego. Oni dobrze wiedzą, że znalazłem się tu, aby bronić dobrej nowiny.
17 They who are of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel;
Ci zaś, którzy mówią o Chrystusie powodowani zazdrością, nie mają szczerych zamiarów. Chcą bowiem przysporzyć mi jeszcze więcej cierpienia.
18 What then? Notwithstanding, in every way, whether in pretence or in truth, Christ is preached; and therein do I rejoice, yea, and shall rejoice.
Ale to jest bez znaczenia. Liczy się tylko to, że—szczerze czy nieszczerze—mówi się o Chrystusie! A z tego mogę się tylko cieszyć,
19 For I know that this will turn out to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
bo wiem, że dzięki waszym modlitwom i pomocy Ducha Jezusa Chrystusa wszystko to przyczyni się do mojego uwolnienia.
20 according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing I shall be put to shame, but that with all boldness, as always, so also now, Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.
Jestem też przekonany, że niczego nie będę musiał się wstydzić. Wręcz przeciwnie! Jak zawsze, tak i teraz—żywy czy martwy—oddam chwałę Chrystusowi.
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Życie oznacza bowiem dla mnie służbę Chrystusowi, a śmierć—to czysty zysk!
22 But if to live in the flesh, if this is to me the fruit of my labor, then what I should choose, I cannot say;
Jeśli więc mam pozostać przy życiu, to nadal będę Mu służył. Ale nie wiem, co wybrać,
23 but I am held in a strait by the two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; for it is far better;
pragnę bowiem zarówno śmierci, jak i życia. Gdybym zakończył życie, to znalazłbym się już z Jezusem—a to jest coś, o czym marzę.
24 but to abide in the flesh is more needful for your sake.
Gdybym jednak pozostał przy życiu, to mógłbym jeszcze zrobić dla was wiele dobrego.
25 And being persuaded of this, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your advancement and joy in your faith,
A mam pewność, że tak właśnie się stanie—że zostanę jeszcze z wami, aby dbać o wasz duchowy wzrost i pomóc wam czerpać radość z wiary.
26 that your glorying in me, in the cause of Christ Jesus, may be more abundant by my coming to you again.
Gdy się więc spotkamy, będziecie mogli być dumni z tego, że służę Jezusowi.
27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, that whether I come and see you, or remain absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one soul striving together for the faith of the gospel,
Tymczasem postępujcie w sposób godny dobrej nowiny o Chrystusie. Chciałbym bowiem—niezależnie od tego, czy jestem z wami, czy nie—mieć pewność, że zachowujecie jedność, że wspólnie walczycie, głosząc dobrą nowinę,
28 and in nothing terrified by your adversaries; which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation; and that from God;
i że nie dajecie się zastraszyć przeciwnikom. Taka postawa będzie dla nich zapowiedzią zagłady, dla was zaś—zapowiedzią Bożego zbawienia.
29 for to you it was given in behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but in his behalf to suffer also;
Bóg dał wam bowiem wielki przywilej—możecie nie tylko wierzyć Chrystusowi, ale także dla Niego cierpieć.
30 as ye have the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear of in me.
Teraz więc przechodzicie te same cierpienia, które kiedyś widzieliście w moim życiu i o których zresztą nadal słyszycie.
