Nahum 1
1 The prophecy concerning Nineveh. The book of the prophecy of Nahum, the Elkoshite.
Carga de Nínive. Libro de la visión de Nahum de Elcesía.
2 Jehovah is a jealous God, and an avenger; Jehovah is an avenger, and full of wrath! Jehovah taketh vengeance on his adversaries, And keepeth indignation for his enemies!
Dios celoso, y vengador Jehová, vengador Jehová, y Señor de ira. Jehová que se venga de sus adversarios, y que guarda su enojo a sus enemigos.
3 Jehovah is slow to anger, but great in power; He will by no means clear the guilty; Jehovah cometh in the whirlwind and the storm, And the clouds are the dust of his feet.
Jehová luengo de iras, y grande en poder, y absolviendo no absolverá. Jehová, cuyo camino es en tempestad y turbión, y las nubes son el polvo de sus pies.
4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, And drieth up all the rivers. Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, And the flower of Lebanon languisheth.
Que amenaza a la mar, y la hace secar, y hace secar todos los ríos: Basán fue destruido, y el Carmelo, y la flor del Líbano fue destruida.
5 The mountains tremble before him, And the hills melt; The earth is moved at his presence, Yea, the world and all that dwell therein.
Los montes tiemblan de él, y los collados se deslien: y la tierra se abrasa delante de su presencia, y el mundo, y todos los que en él habitan.
6 Who can stand before his indignation, And who can abide before the fierceness of his anger? His fury is poured out like fire, And the rocks are cast down by him!
¿Quién permanecerá delante de su ira? ¿y quién quedará en pie en el furor de su enojo? su ira se derrama como fuego, y las peñas se rompen por él.
7 Jehovah is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; He careth for them that trust in him;
Bueno es Jehová para fortaleza en el día de la angustia; y que conoce a los que en él confían.
8 But with an overwhelming flood will he make a full end of her place, And darkness shall pursue his enemies.
Y con inundación pasante hará consumación de su lugar; y tinieblas perseguirán sus enemigos.
9 What do ye meditate against Jehovah? He will make a full end; Not the second time shall the calamity come.
¿Qué pensáis contra Jehová? El hace consumación: no se levantará dos veces la tribulación.
10 For while they are entangled like thorns, And like those that are drunk with wine, They shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.
Porque como espinas entretejidas, cuando los borrachos se emborracharán, serán consumidos del fuego, como las estopas llenas de sequedad.
11 From thee hath gone forth one that devised evil against Jehovah; That meditated destruction.
De ti salió el que pensó mal contra Jehová, consultor impío.
12 Thus saith Jehovah: Though they be flourishing, and likewise many, Yet shall they be cut down, and pass away; I have afflicted thee, but I will afflict thee no more.
Así dijo Jehová: Aunque reposo tengan, y así muchos como son así serán talados, y pasará; y si te afligí, no te afligiré más.
13 For now will I break his yoke from off thee, And will burst thy bonds in sunder.
Porque ahora quebraré su yugo de sobre ti, romperé tus coyundas.
14 And concerning thee hath Jehovah given command, That thy name shall no more be sown. From the house of thy god I will cut off the graven image and the molten image; I will make thy grave; for thou hast become vile!
Y mandará Jehová acerca de ti, que nunca más sea sembrado alguno de tu nombre: de la casa de tu dios talaré escultura, y vaciadizo: allí pondré tu sepulcro, porque fuiste vil.
15 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, That publisheth peace! Keep, O Judah, thy feasts, perform thy vows! For no more shall the destroyer pass through thee; He is utterly consumed.
He aquí que sobre los montes están ya los pies del que trae las albricias, del que pregona la paz: celebra, o! Judá, tus fiestas, cumple tus votos; porque nunca más pasará por ti el impío: todo él fue talado.
