Luke 5
1 And it came to pass, as the multitude was pressing upon him and hearing the word of God, that he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret,
Comme la foule le pressait et écoutait la parole de Dieu, il se tenait au bord du lac de Génésareth.
2 and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone out of them, and had washed the nets.
Il vit deux barques au bord du lac, mais les pêcheurs en étaient sortis et lavaient leurs filets.
3 And going into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And sitting down in the boat, he taught the multitudes.
Il monta dans l'une des barques, qui était celle de Simon, et lui demanda de s'éloigner un peu de la terre. Il s'assit et enseigna la foule depuis la barque.
4 And when he had done speaking, he said to Simon, Put out into deep water, and let down your nets for a draught.
Lorsqu'il eut fini de parler, il dit à Simon: « Avance dans l'eau profonde et jetez vos filets pour la pêche. »
5 And Simon answering said, Master, we toiled all night, and took nothing; but at thy word I will let down the nets.
Simon lui répondit: « Maître, nous avons travaillé toute la nuit et nous n'avons rien pris; mais à ta parole, je vais jeter le filet. »
6 And having done this, they inclosed great multitude of fishes; and their nets began to break.
Quand ils eurent fait cela, ils prirent une grande quantité de poissons, et leur filet se rompait.
7 And they beckoned to their partners in the other boat, to come and help them; and they came, and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
Ils firent signe à leurs compagnons de l'autre barque de venir les aider. Ils vinrent et remplirent les deux barques, de sorte qu'elles commencèrent à couler.
8 And Simon Peter seeing it fell down at the knees of Jesus, saying, Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.
Simon Pierre, voyant cela, tomba aux genoux de Jésus, en disant: « Seigneur, retire-toi de moi, car je suis un homme pécheur. »
9 For he and all that were with him were amazed at the draught of fishes, which they had taken;
Car il était stupéfait, ainsi que tous ceux qui étaient avec lui, de la prise de poissons qu'ils avaient faite;
10 and so were also James and John the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon And Jesus said to Simon, Fear not; henceforth thou shalt catch men.
de même que Jacques et Jean, fils de Zébédée, qui étaient associés à Simon. Jésus dit à Simon: « N'aie pas peur. Désormais, tu attraperas des gens vivants. »
11 And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything, and followed him.
Quand ils eurent ramené leurs barques à terre, ils laissèrent tout, et le suivirent.
12 And it came to pass, when he was in one of the cities, lo! a man full of leprosy; and seeing Jesus, he fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst cleanse me.
Comme il était dans une des villes, voici qu'il y avait un homme atteint de lèpre. Lorsqu'il vit Jésus, il tomba sur sa face et le supplia en disant: « Seigneur, si tu le veux, tu peux me rendre pur. »
13 And he put forth his hand and touched him, saying, I will; be thou cleansed. And immediately the leprosy left him.
Il étendit la main et le toucha, en disant: « Je le veux. Sois purifié. » Aussitôt, la lèpre le quitta.
14 And he charged him to tell no one: but go, and show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing as Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.
Il lui ordonna de ne le dire à personne: « Mais va, montre-toi au prêtre, et offre pour ta purification ce que Moïse a prescrit, en témoignage pour eux. »
15 But so much the more went abroad the report concerning him; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed of their infirmities.
Mais la nouvelle de sa venue se répandait de plus en plus, et de grandes foules s'assemblaient pour l'entendre et pour être guéries par lui de leurs infirmités.
16 But he was wont to withdraw to desert places, and pray.
Mais il se retira dans le désert et pria.
17 And it came to pass on a certain day, that he was teaching, and there were sitting by Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every town of Galilee and Judea, and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was present that he might heal.
Un de ces jours-là, il enseignait. Il y avait là, assis, des pharisiens et des docteurs de la loi, venus de tous les villages de Galilée, de Judée et de Jérusalem. La puissance du Seigneur était avec lui pour les guérir.
18 And lo! men brought on a bed a man that was palsied; and they endeavored to bring him in, and to set him before him.
Voici que des hommes apportaient un paralytique sur un lit de camp, et ils cherchaient à le faire entrer pour le déposer devant Jésus.
19 And not finding any way to bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the house-top, and let him down through the tiling with the couch into the midst before Jesus.
Ne trouvant pas le moyen de le faire entrer à cause de la foule, ils montèrent sur le toit de la maison et le firent descendre par les tuiles, avec son lit, jusqu'au milieu, devant Jésus.
20 And seeing their faith, he said, Man, thy sins have been forgiven thee.
Voyant leur foi, Jésus lui dit: « Homme, tes péchés te sont pardonnés. »
21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this that speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?
Les scribes et les pharisiens se mirent à raisonner, disant: « Qui est celui-ci, qui profère des blasphèmes? Qui peut pardonner les péchés, sinon Dieu seul? »
22 But Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, answered and said to them, What are ye thinking in your hearts?
Mais Jésus, percevant leurs pensées, leur répondit: « Pourquoi raisonnez-vous ainsi dans vos cœurs?
23 Which is easier? to say, Thy sins have been forgiven thee? or to say, Arise, and walk?
Quel est le plus facile de dire: « Tes péchés te sont pardonnés », ou de dire: « Lève-toi et marche »?
24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins, —he said to the palsied man, —I say to thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go to thy house.
Mais, afin que vous sachiez que le Fils de l'homme a sur la terre le pouvoir de pardonner les péchés, il dit au paralysé: « Je te le dis, lève-toi, prends ton lit, et va dans ta maison. »
25 And he immediately rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and went away to his house, giving glory to God.
Aussitôt, il se leva en leur présence, prit ce qu'il avait déposé, et s'en alla dans sa maison, glorifiant Dieu.
26 And amazement seized them all, and they gave glory to God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to-day.
La stupeur s'empara de tous, et ils glorifièrent Dieu. Ils étaient remplis de crainte, et disaient: « Nous avons vu aujourd'hui des choses étranges. »
27 And after these things he went out, and saw a publican named Levi, sitting at the custom-house; and he said to him, Follow me.
Après cela, il sortit et vit un publicain, nommé Lévi, assis au bureau des impôts, et il lui dit: « Suis-moi! »
28 And leaving everything, he arose and followed him.
Il laissa tout, se leva et le suivit.
29 And Levi made a great feast for him at his house, and there was a great company of publicans and others, who were reclining at table with them.
Lévi fit pour lui un grand festin dans sa maison. Il y avait une grande foule de collecteurs d'impôts et d'autres personnes qui étaient couchées avec eux.
30 And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with the publicans and sinners?
Les scribes et les pharisiens murmuraient contre ses disciples, en disant: « Pourquoi mangez-vous et buvez-vous avec les publicains et les pécheurs? »
31 And Jesus answering said to them, They who are well do not need a physician, but they who are sick.
Jésus leur répondit: « Ceux qui sont en bonne santé n'ont pas besoin de médecin, mais ceux qui sont malades, si.
32 I have not come to call righteous men, but sinners to repentance.
Je ne suis pas venu appeler les justes, mais les pécheurs, à la repentance. »
33 And they said to him, The disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise those of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink.
Ils lui dirent: « Pourquoi les disciples de Jean jeûnent-ils souvent et prient-ils, de même que les disciples des pharisiens, mais les vôtres mangent et boivent? »
34 But Jesus said to them, Can ye make the companions of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them?
Il leur dit: « Pouvez-vous faire jeûner les amis de l'époux pendant que l'époux est avec eux?
35 But the days will come—and when the bridegroom is taken from them, then will they fast in those days.
Mais les jours viendront où l'époux leur sera enlevé. Alors ils jeûneront en ces jours-là. »
36 And he spoke also a parable to them: No one taketh a patch from a new garment and putteth it upon an old one; for then both the new garment would be rent, and the patch from the new garment would not match with the old.
Il leur raconta aussi une parabole. « Personne ne met un morceau d'un vêtement neuf sur un vieux vêtement, sinon il déchirera le nouveau, et le morceau du nouveau ne sera pas assorti au vieux.
37 And no one putteth new wine into old skins; for the new wine would burst the skins, and would itself run out, and the skins would be spoilt.
Personne ne met du vin nouveau dans de vieilles outres, sinon le vin nouveau fera éclater les outres, il se répandra et les outres seront détruites.
38 But new wine must be put into new skins.
Mais le vin nouveau doit être mis dans des outres à vin frais, et les deux se conservent.
39 And no one, having drunk old wine, desireth new; for he saith, The old is good.
Aucun homme qui a bu du vin vieux ne désire aussitôt du vin nouveau, car il dit: « Le vieux est meilleur ». »
