Luke 22
1 Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the passover, was drawing near;
La fête des pains sans levain, appelée la Pâque, approchait.
2 and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
Et les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes cherchaient comment ils pourraient faire mourir Jésus; car ils craignaient le peuple.
3 And Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve.
Or, Satan entra dans Judas, nommé Iscariote, qui était du nombre des Douze.
4 And he went away, and consulted with the chief priests and captains, how he might deliver him up to them.
Judas alla trouver les principaux sacrificateurs et les chefs des gardes, pour s'entendre avec eux sur les moyens de le leur livrer.
5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
Ceux-ci, remplis de joie, lui promirent de lui donner de l'argent.
6 And he agreed with them, and sought a good opportunity to deliver him up to them in the absence of the multitude.
Il se mit d'accord avec eux, et il cherchait une occasion favorable pour livrer Jésus à l'insu de la foule.
7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed;
Le jour des pains sans levain, où l'on devait immoler la Pâque, étant arrivé,
8 and he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and make ready for us the passover, that we may eat it.
Jésus envoya Pierre et Jean, et il leur dit: Allez nous préparer la Pâque, afin que nous la mangions.
9 And they said to him, Where wilt thou that we make it ready?
Ils lui dirent: Où veux-tu que nous la préparions?
10 And he said to them, Lo! when ye have entered the city, there will meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he goeth in;
Il leur répondit: Lorsque vous entrerez dans la ville, vous rencontrerez un homme portant une cruche d'eau; suivez-le dans la maison où il entrera,
11 and ye shall say to the master of the house, The Teacher saith to thee, Where is the guest-chamber, where I may eat the passover with my disciples?
et dites au maître de la maison: Le Maître te fait dire: Où se trouve la salle dans laquelle je dois manger la Pâque avec mes disciples?
12 And he will show you a large upper room furnished; there make ready.
Et il vous montrera une grande chambre haute, toute meublée; préparez-y ce qu'il faut.
13 And they went and found as he had said to them; and they made ready the passover.
Ils s'en allèrent et trouvèrent les choses comme Jésus le leur avait dit; et ils préparèrent la Pâque.
14 And when the hour had come, he placed himself at table, and the apostles with him.
Quand l'heure fut venue, il se mit à table, et les apôtres avec lui.
15 And he said to them, Earnestly have I desired to eat this passover with you, before I suffer.
Puis il leur dit: J'ai fort désiré de manger cette Pâque avec vous, avant que je souffre.
16 For I say to you, that I shall eat it no more, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
Car, je vous le déclare, je ne la mangerai plus, jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit accomplie dans le royaume de Dieu.
17 And he took a cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves.
Et, ayant pris une coupe et rendu grâces, il dit: Prenez ceci, et partagez-le entre vous.
18 For I say to you, that I shall not drink henceforth of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall have come.
Car, je vous le déclare, désormais je ne boirai plus du fruit de la vigne, jusqu'à ce que le royaume de Dieu soit venu.
19 And he took a loaf, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, This is my body, which is given for you; this do in remembrance of me.
Puis il prit du pain, et, après avoir rendu grâces, il le rompit et le leur donna, en disant: Ceci est mon corps, qui est donné pour vous; faites ceci en mémoire de moi.
20 And in like manner he took the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is about to be shed for you.
De même, après avoir soupé, il leur donna la coupe, en disant: Cette coupe est la nouvelle alliance en mon sang, qui est répandu pour vous.
21 But lo! the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.
Au reste, la main de celui qui me trahit est près de moi: il est assis à cette table!
22 For the Son of man indeed goeth away, as it hath been determined; but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed.
En ce qui concerne le Fils de l'homme, il s'en va, conformément à ce qui a été arrêté; mais malheur à cet homme, par qui il est trahi!
23 And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that was about to do this.
Alors ils se mirent à se demander les uns aux autres, quel était donc celui d'entre eux qui ferait cela.
24 And there arose also a contention among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
Il s'éleva aussi parmi eux une contestation, pour savoir lequel d'entre eux devait être regardé comme le plus grand.
25 And he said to them, The kings of the nations rule as lords over them, and they who exercise authority over them are called benefactors.
Mais Jésus leur dit: Les rois des nations leur commandent en maîtres, et ceux qui exercent l'autorité sur elles sont appelés bienfaiteurs.
26 But it is not to be so with you; but let the greatest among you be as the youngest; and he that is chief, as he that serveth.
Pour vous, ne faites pas ainsi; mais, que le plus grand parmi vous soit comme le plus petit, et celui qui gouverne, comme celui qui sert.
27 For which is greater? he who reclineth at the table, or he who serveth? Is not he that reclineth at the table? But I am in the midst of you as he who serveth.
Car lequel est le plus grand, celui qui est à table, ou celui qui sert? N'est-ce pas celui qui est à table? Moi pourtant, je suis au milieu de vous comme celui qui sert.
28 Ye however are they who have continued steadfastly with me in my trials.
Quant à vous, vous avez persévéré avec moi dans mes épreuves,
29 And I appoint to you a kingdom, as my Father appointed to me;
et je dispose du royaume en votre faveur, comme mon Père en a disposé pour moi,
30 that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; and ye shall sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
afin que vous mangiez et que vous buviez à ma table dans mon royaume, et que vous soyez assis sur des trônes, jugeant les douze tribus d'Israël.
31 Simon, Simon, lo! Satan hath asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.
Simon, Simon, voici que Satan a demandé à vous passer au crible comme le blé.
32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not. And do thou, when thou hast returned to me, strengthen thy brethren.
Mais j'ai prié pour toi, afin que ta foi ne défaille point. Toi donc, quand tu seras converti, affermis tes frères.
33 And he said to him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee both to prison and to death.
Pierre lui dit: Seigneur, je suis prêt à aller avec toi, et en prison et à la mort!
34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, a cock will not crow this day, till thou hast thrice denied that thou knowest me.
Jésus répondit: Pierre, je te le déclare, le coq ne chantera pas aujourd'hui, que tu n'aies par trois fois nié de me connaître.
35 And he said to them, When I sent you without purse, or bag, or sandals, were ye in need of anything? And they said, Of nothing. Then he said to them,
Puis il ajouta: Lorsque je vous ai envoyés sans bourse, sans sac et sans chaussures, avez-vous manqué de quelque chose? Ils répondirent: De rien.
36 But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a bag; and he that hath not, let him sell his garment, and buy a sword.
Mais maintenant, leur dit-il, que celui qui a une bourse, la prenne, et de même, celui qui a un sac; et que celui qui n'a point d'épée, vende son manteau et en achète une.
37 For I say to you, that this which is written must be accomplished in me: “And he was reckoned among transgressors.” For that which concerneth me also hath an end.
Car, je vous le déclare, il faut que s'accomplisse en ma personne ce qui est écrit: «Il a été mis au rang des malfaiteurs.» En effet, ce qui me concerne touche à sa fin.
38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said to him, It is enough!
Ils dirent: Seigneur, voici deux épées. Il leur répondit: Cela suffit.
39 And going out, he went, as he was wont, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed him.
Puis, Jésus sortit et alla, selon sa coutume, à la montagne des Oliviers; et les disciples le suivirent.
40 And when he was at the place, he said to them, Pray that ye may not enter into temptation.
Quand il fut arrivé en ce lieu, il leur dit: Priez, afin que vous ne tombiez pas dans la tentation.
41 And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw; and kneeling down he prayed,
Alors il s'éloigna d'eux d'un jet de pierre environ, et, s'étant mis à genoux, il priait,
42 saying, Father, if thou art willing to remove this cup from me—yet not my will, but thine be done!
disant: Père, si tu voulais éloigner de moi cette coupe! Toutefois, que ta volonté soit faite et non la mienne!
43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.
Et un ange lui apparut du ciel, qui le fortifiait.
44 And being in an agony, he prayed more earnestly. And his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling to the ground.
Étant en agonie, il priait plus instamment, et sa sueur devint comme de grosses gouttes de sang qui tombaient à terre.
45 And rising up from prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping for sorrow,
Après avoir prié, il se leva et revint vers les disciples, qu'il trouva endormis de tristesse.
46 and said to them, Why sleep ye? Rise, and pray that ye may not enter into temptation.
Et il leur dit: Pourquoi dormez-vous? Levez-vous, et priez, afin que vous ne tombiez pas dans la tentation.
47 While he was yet speaking, lo! a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, was at the head of them; and he drew near to Jesus to kiss him.
Comme il parlait encore, une troupe parut. Celui qu'on nommait Judas, l'un des Douze, marchait devant elle, et il s'approcha de Jésus pour lui donner un baiser.
48 But Jesus said to him, Judas, dost thou betray the Son of man with a kiss?
Jésus lui dit: Judas, tu trahis le Fils de l'homme par un baiser!
49 And they who were about him, seeing what would follow, said, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
Alors ceux qui étaient avec lui, voyant ce qui allait arriver, lui dirent: Seigneur, frapperons-nous de l'épée?
50 And one of them smote the servant of the high-priest, and cut off his right ear.
Et l'un d'eux frappa le serviteur du souverain sacrificateur, et il lui emporta l'oreille droite.
51 But Jesus answering said, Permit thus far; and touched his ear, and healed him.
Mais Jésus, prenant la parole, dit: Arrêtez un moment! Et, ayant touché l'oreille de cet homme, il le guérit.
52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders who had come to him, Ye have come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs;
Puis Jésus dit aux principaux sacrificateurs, aux chefs des gardes du temple et aux anciens, qui étaient venus vers lui: Vous êtes sortis avec des épées et des bâtons, comme après un brigand.
53 when I was daily with you in the temple, ye did not put forth your hands against me; but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
J'étais tous les jours dans le temple avec vous, et vous n'avez pas mis la main sur moi. Mais c'est ici votre heure et la puissance des ténèbres.
54 And they seized him, and led him away, and brought him into the house of the high-priest. And Peter followed afar off.
Alors, ils le saisirent et l'emmenèrent; et ils le firent entrer dans la maison du souverain sacrificateur, Pierre suivait de loin.
55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and had sat down together, Peter sat down among them.
Ils allumèrent du feu au milieu de la cour et s'assirent ensemble; et Pierre s'assit parmi eux.
56 But a certain maid-servant saw him sitting at the fire, and steadily looking at him said, This man also was with him.
Une servante, le voyant assis près du feu et le regardant attentivement, dit: Cet homme était aussi avec lui.
57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I do not know him.
Mais il renia Jésus, en disant: Femme, je ne le connais point!
58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou also art one of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.
Un peu après, un autre, l'ayant vu, lui dit: Toi aussi, tu es de ces gens-là! Pierre répondit à cet homme: Je n'en suis pas!
59 And in about one hour's time, another confidently affirmed, saying, In truth this man also was with him; for he is a Galilaean.
Environ une heure plus tard, un autre assurait la même chose et disait: Certainement, cet homme était aussi avec lui; car il est Galiléen.
60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he was yet speaking, a cock crew.
Mais Pierre reprit: homme, je ne sais ce que tu veux dire! Au même instant, comme il parlait encore, le coq chanta;
61 And the Lord turned and looked upon Peter; and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, that he had said to him, Before a cock crows this day, thou wilt thrice deny me.
et le Seigneur, s'étant retourné, regarda Pierre. Pierre se ressouvint de la parole que le Seigneur lui avait dite: Avant que le coq chante aujourd'hui, tu me renieras trois fois.
62 And he went out, and wept bitterly.
Et étant sorti, il pleura amèrement.
63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and beat him;
Or, ceux qui gardaient Jésus se moquaient de lui et le frappaient;
64 and having blindfolded him, they asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that struck thee?
et, lui ayant couvert le visage, ils lui disaient: Prophétise, devine qui t'a frappé!
65 And many other things did they scoffingly say against him.
Et ils proféraient beaucoup d'autres injures contre lui.
66 And when it was day, the elders of the people, both chief priests and scribes, came together, and brought him before their council, saying,
Quand le jour fut venu, les anciens du peuple, les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes se réunirent, et ils le firent venir dans leur Sanhédrin.
67 If thou art the Christ, tell us. And he said to them, If I tell you, ye will not believe;
Ils lui dirent: Si tu es le Christ, déclare-le-nous. Il leur répondit: Si je le disais, vous ne le croiriez pas;
68 and if I ask, ye will not answer.
et si je vous interrogeais, vous ne me répondriez pas.
69 But from this time the Son of man will sit on the right hand of the power of God.
Mais désormais le Fils de l'homme sera assis à la droite du Dieu tout-puissant.
70 Then they all said, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said to them, Ye say what is true; for I am.
Ils dirent tous: Tu es donc le Fils de Dieu? Il leur répondit: Vous dites vous-mêmes que je le suis.
71 And they said, What further need have we of testimony? For we have ourselves heard from his own mouth.
Alors ils s'écrièrent: Qu'avons-nous encore besoin de témoignage? Nous venons nous-mêmes de l'entendre de sa propre bouche!
