Acts 8
1 And Saul was consenting to his death. And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and all were scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
൧സ്തെഫാനൊസിനെ കൊലചെയ്തത് ശൗലിന് സമ്മതമായിരുന്നു. അന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലെ സഭയ്ക്ക് ഒരു വലിയ പീഢനം നേരിട്ടു; അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാർ ഒഴികെ എല്ലാവരും യെഹൂദ്യ ശമര്യാ ദേശങ്ങളിൽ ചിതറിപ്പോയി.
2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
൨ദൈവഭക്തരായ പുരുഷന്മാർ സ്തെഫാനൊസിനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു, അവനെക്കുറിച്ച് വലിയൊരു വിലാപം കഴിച്ചു.
3 But Saul ravaged the church, entering house after house, and dragging both men and women, committed them to prison.
൩എന്നാൽ ശൗല്‍ വീടുതോറും ചെന്നു പുരുഷന്മാരെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും വലിച്ചിഴച്ചു തടവിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് സഭയ്ക്ക് ഹാനി വരുത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
4 Now those that had been scattered abroad went through the country preaching the word.
൪ചിതറിപ്പോയവർ വചനം പ്രസംഗിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് അവിടവിടെ സഞ്ചരിച്ചു.
5 And Philip went down to a city of Samaria, and preached to them the Christ.
൫ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ശമര്യാ പട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെന്നു അവിടെയുള്ളവരോട് ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.
6 And the multitudes with one accord gave heed to the things spoken by Philip, when they heard and saw the signs which he wrought.
൬ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ചെയ്ത അടയാളങ്ങൾ ജനങ്ങൾ കേൾക്കുകയും കാൺകയും ചെയ്കയാൽ അവൻ പറയുന്നത് ഏകമനസ്സോടെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
7 For from many that had unclean spirits came they out crying with a loud voice; and many that were palsied, and that were lame, were cured.
൭അശുദ്ധാത്മാക്കൾ ബാധിച്ച പലരിൽനിന്നും അവ ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അനേകം പക്ഷവാതക്കാരും മുടന്തരും സൗഖ്യം പ്രാപിച്ചു.
8 And there was great joy in that city.
൮അങ്ങനെ ആ പട്ടണത്തിൽ വളരെ സന്തോഷം ഉണ്ടായി.
9 But before their arrival a certain man, named Simon, was in the city, a man practising sorcery, and amazing the people of Samaria, saying that he himself was some great person;
൯എന്നാൽ ശിമോൻ എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു പുരുഷൻ ആ പട്ടണത്തിൽ ആഭിചാരം ചെയ്തു, താൻ മഹാൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് ശമര്യാ പട്ടണത്തിലെ ആളുകളെയെല്ലാം ഭ്രമിപ്പിച്ചുപോന്നു.
10 to whom they gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the Power of God, which is called Great.
൧൦“മഹാൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ദൈവശക്തി ഈ മനുഷ്യനാകുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് ശമര്യയിലുള്ള ചെറിയവർ മുതൽ വലിയവർ വരെ അവനെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുവന്നു.
11 And to him they gave heed, because they had for a long time been amazed by his sorceries.
൧൧ഇവൻ ആഭിചാരംകൊണ്ട് ഏറിയകാലം അവരെ ഭ്രമിപ്പിക്കുകയാൽ അത്രേ അവർ അവനെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചത്
12 But when they believed Philip, publishing the glad tidings concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
൧൨എന്നാൽ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തെയും യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്‍റെ നാമത്തെയും കുറിച്ചുള്ള സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുന്ന ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനെ അവർ വിശ്വസിച്ചപ്പോൾ പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു.
13 And Simon himself also believed, and having been baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed when he beheld the miracles and signs which were wrought.
൧൩ശിമോൻ താനും വിശ്വസിച്ച് സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു, ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനോട് ചേർന്നുനിന്നു; വലിയ അടയാളങ്ങളും വീര്യപ്രവൃത്തികളും നടക്കുന്നത് കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവൻ ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.
14 And the apostles at Jerusalem, hearing that Samaria had received the word of God, sent to them Peter and John;
൧൪അനന്തരം യെരൂശലേമിലുള്ള അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാർ, ശമര്യർ ദൈവവചനം കൈക്കൊണ്ടു എന്നു കേട്ടിട്ടു പത്രൊസിനെയും യോഹന്നാനെയും അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു.
15 who, having come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.
൧൫അവർ അവിടെ എത്തിയിട്ട്, ചെന്നു, അവർക്ക് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് ലഭിക്കേണ്ടതിന് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു.
16 For it had not yet fallen upon any of them; but they had only been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
൧൬അന്നുവരെ അവരിൽ ആരുടെമേലും പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് വന്നിരുന്നില്ല; അവർ കർത്താവായ യേശുവിന്‍റെ നാമത്തിൽ സ്നാനം ഏറ്റിരുന്നതേയുള്ളു.
17 Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
൧൭അവർ അവരുടെ മേൽ കൈ വെച്ചപ്പോൾ അവർക്ക് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് ലഭിച്ചു.
18 But Simon, seeing that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, offered them money,
൧൮അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാർ കൈ വെച്ചതിനാൽ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് ലഭിച്ചത് ശിമോൻ കണ്ടതിനാൽ അവൻ അവർക്ക് കൊടുക്കുവാൻ പണം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു:
19 saying, Give me also this power, that on whomever I lay my hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit.
൧൯“ഞാൻ ഒരുവന്‍റെ മേൽ കൈ വെച്ചാൽ അവനു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവ് ലഭിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ഈ അധികാരം എനിക്കും തരേണം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
20 But Peter said to him, Thy money perish with thee! because thou didst think to obtain the gift of God with money.
൨൦പത്രൊസ് അവനോട്: “ദൈവത്തിന്‍റെ ദാനം പണം കൊടുത്ത് വാങ്ങിക്കൊള്ളാം എന്നു നീ നിരൂപിക്കകൊണ്ട് നിന്‍റെ പണം നിന്നോടുകൂടെ നശിച്ചുപോകട്ടെ.
21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter; for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
൨൧നിന്‍റെ ഹൃദയം ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ നേരുള്ളതല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ട് ഈ കാര്യത്തിൽ നിനക്കു പങ്കും ഓഹരിയുമില്ല.
22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray the Lord, if haply the thought of thy heart may be forgiven thee.
൨൨നിന്‍റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ ഈ വഷളത്വം വിട്ട് മാനസാന്തരപ്പെട്ടു കർത്താവിനോട് പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുക; ഒരുപക്ഷേ നിന്‍റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ നിരൂപണം ക്ഷമിച്ചുകിട്ടുമായിരിക്കും.
23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
൨൩നീ കടുത്ത അസൂയയിലും പാപത്തിന്‍റെ ബന്ധനത്തിലും അകപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ കാണുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
24 And Simon answering said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of the things which ye have spoken may come upon me.
൨൪അതിന് ശിമോൻ: “നിങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞത് ഒന്നും എനിക്ക് ഭവിക്കാതിരിക്കുവാൻ കർത്താവിനോട് എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുവിൻ” എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
25 They then, when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, were returning to Jerusalem, and publishing the glad tidings in many villages of the Samaritans.
൨൫അവർ കർത്താവിന്‍റെ വചനം സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചു പ്രസംഗിച്ചശേഷം ശമര്യക്കാരുടെ അനേക ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിൽ സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് യെരൂശലേമിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
26 But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, Arise, and go towards the south, to the way that goeth down from Jerusalem to Gaza. This is a desert way.
൨൬അനന്തരം കർത്താവിന്‍റെ ദൂതൻ ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനോട്: “നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് തെക്കോട്ട് യെരൂശലേമിൽനിന്ന് ഗസയ്ക്കുള്ള നിർജ്ജനമായ വഴിയിലേക്കു പോക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
27 And he arose and went; and lo! a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch, a high officer of Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem to worship,
൨൭അവൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നപ്പോൾ കന്ദക്ക എന്ന എത്യോപ്യാരാജ്ഞിയുടെ ഒരു ഷണ്ഡനും മഹാനും അവളുടെ സകലഭണ്ഡാരത്തിനും മേൽവിചാരകനുമായ ഒരു എത്യോപ്യനെ കണ്ടു. അവൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽ നമസ്കരിപ്പാൻ വന്നിട്ട് മടങ്ങിപ്പോരുമ്പോൾ
28 was returning and sitting in his chariot; and he was reading the prophet Isaiah.
൨൮തേരിൽ ഇരുന്ന് യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്‍റെ പുസ്തകം വായിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
29 And the Spirit said to Philip, Go near and join thyself to this chariot.
൨൯ആത്മാവ് ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനോട്: “നീ അടുത്തുചെന്നു തേരിനോട് ചേർന്നുനടക്ക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
30 And Philip ran up, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, Well, but dost thou understand what thou art reading?
൩൦ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ഓടിച്ചെല്ലുമ്പോൾ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്‍റെ പുസ്തകം അവൻ വായിക്കുന്നതു കേട്ടു: “നീ വായിക്കുന്നത് ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നുവോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
31 And he said, How can I, unless some one shall guide me? And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
൩൧അതിന്: “ഒരുവൻ ശരിയായി വിവരിച്ചു തരാഞ്ഞാൽ എങ്ങനെ ഗ്രഹിക്കും” എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു, ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് കയറി തന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
32 And the passage of the scripture which he was reading was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so he openeth not his mouth.
൩൨തിരുവെഴുത്തിൽ ഈ ഭാഗം ആയിരുന്നു അവൻ വായിച്ചിരുന്നത് “അറുക്കുവാനുള്ള ആടിനേപ്പോലെ അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി; രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്നവൻ്റെ മുമ്പാകെ മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കുന്ന കുഞ്ഞാടിനെപ്പോലെ അവൻ വായ് തുറക്കാതിരുന്നു.
33 In his humiliation judgment was refused him; and who shall describe his generation? for his life is taken away from the earth.”
൩൩അവന്‍റെ താഴ്ചയിൽ അവനു ന്യായം കിട്ടാതെ പോയി; അവന്‍റെ തലമുറയെ ആർ വിവരിക്കും? ഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നു അവന്‍റെ ജീവനെ എടുത്തുകളയുന്നുവല്ലോ.”
34 And the eunuch answering said, I pray thee, of whom doth the prophet say this? Of himself, or of some other man?
൩൪ഷണ്ഡൻ ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനോട്: “ഇത് പ്രവാചകൻ ആരെക്കുറിച്ച് പറയുന്നു? തന്നെക്കുറിച്ചോ മറ്റൊരുത്തനെക്കുറിച്ചോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുതരേണം” എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
35 And Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this scripture declared to him the glad tidings concerning Jesus.
൩൫ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ഈ തിരുവെഴുത്ത് ആധാരമാക്കി അവനോട് യേശുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുവാൻ തുടങ്ങി.
36 And as they went along the road, they came to a certain water; and the eunuch saith, See, here is water; what is there to hinder my being baptized?
൩൬അവർ ഇങ്ങനെ വഴിപോകയിൽ വെള്ളമുള്ളൊരു സ്ഥലത്ത് എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഷണ്ഡൻ: “ഇതാ വെള്ളം; ഞാൻ സ്നാനം ഏല്ക്കുന്നതിൽനിന്ന് എന്ത് എന്നെ തടസ്സപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു?” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
൩൭അതിന് ഫിലിപ്പൊസ്: “നീ പൂർണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ആകാം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “യേശുക്രിസ്തു ദൈവപുത്രൻ എന്നു ഞാൻ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
38 And he commanded that the chariot should stop; and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
൩൮അങ്ങനെ അവൻ തേർ നിർത്തുവാൻ കല്പിച്ചു: ഫിലിപ്പൊസും ഷണ്ഡനും ഇരുവരും വെള്ളത്തിൽ ഇറങ്ങി, അവൻ അവനെ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചു.
39 But when they had come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip; and the eunuch saw him no more, for he went on his way rejoicing.
൩൯അവർ വെള്ളത്തിൽനിന്ന് കയറിയപ്പോൾ കർത്താവിന്‍റെ ആത്മാവ് ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനെ എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി; ഷണ്ഡൻ അവനെ പിന്നെ കണ്ടില്ല; അവൻ സന്തോഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് തന്‍റെ വഴിക്കുപോയി.
40 But Philip was found at Azotus; and passing through, he published the glad tidings in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
൪൦ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനെ പിന്നെ അസ്തോദിൽ കണ്ടു; അവൻ ദേശത്തിലൂടെയെല്ലാം സഞ്ചരിച്ച് എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് കൈസര്യയിൽ എത്തി.
