Acts 6
1 But in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
ती दिनमा जब चेलाहरूको सङ्ख्या गुणात्मक रूपमा बढ्दै गयो ग्रिक भाषा बोल्ने यहूदीहरूले हिब्रूहरूको विरुद्धमा गनगन गर्न थाले किनकि तिनीहरूका विधवाहरूलाई दैनिक खाद्य वितरणमा वेवास्ता गरिँदै थियो ।
2 And the twelve called the multitude of the disciples to them, and said, It doth not seem to us proper, that we should leave the word of God, and provide for tables.
बाह्र प्रेरितले चेलाहरूको समूहलाई बोलाएर भने, “खुवाउने-पियाउने काममा अल्झिन हामीले परमेश्वरको वचनलाई वेवास्ता गर्नु उपयुक्त हुँदैन ।
3 Therefore, brethren, look out among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint over this business;
यसकारण भाइ हो, तपाईंहरूमध्येबाट सात जना मानिसलाई छान्नुहोस् जो नाउँ चलेका, बुद्धि र पवित्र आत्माले भरिएका होऊन् जसलाई हामी यस कामको लागि नियुक्त गर्न सकौँ ।
4 but we will give ourselves closely to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
हाम्रो सम्बन्धमा भन्नुपर्दा, हामी निरन्तर रूपमा प्रार्थना र वचनको सेवामा लागिरहनेछौँ ।”
5 And what was said pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus a proselyte of Antioch,
तिनीहरूको भनाइ पुरै समुदायलाई मन पर्यो । त्यसैले, तिनीहरूले विश्वास र पवित्र आत्माले भरिएका स्तिफनस, फिलिप, प्रखरस, निकनोर, तीमोन, पर्मिनास र एन्टिओखियाका यहूदी-मत मान्ने निकोलाउसलाई छाने ।
6 whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
विश्वासीहरूले यी मानिसहरूलाई प्रेरितहरूका सामु ल्याए जसले प्रार्थना गरे र तिनीहरूमाथि हात राखे ।
7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem was greatly enlarged; and a great multitude of the priests were obedient to the faith.
यसरी परमेश्वरको वचन फैलियो र यरूशलेममा चेलाहरूको सङ्ख्या गुणात्मक रूपमा वृद्धि भयो । र धेरै पूजाहारीहरूले यस विश्वासलाई स्वीकार गरे ।
8 And Stephen, full of grace and power, wrought great wonders and signs among the people.
अब अनुग्रह र शक्तिले भरिएर स्तिफनसले मानिसहरूका बिचमा महान् आश्चर्य र चिन्हहरू देखाउँदै थिए ।
9 But some of those who belonged to the so-called synagogue of the Freedmen, and of the Cyrenaeans and Alexandrians, and of those from Cilicia and Asia, arose and disputed with Stephen;
तर त्यहाँ स्वतन्त्र दल नामक सभाघरका मानिसहरू, कुरेनीहरू, अलेक्ज्यान्ड्रियाका बासिन्दाहरू र किलिकियासाथै एसियाका केही मानिसहरू खडा भए । यी मानिसहरू स्तिफनससित वादविवाद गर्दै थिए ।
10 and they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.
तर स्तिफनसले जुन बुद्धि र पवित्र आत्माको शक्तिमा बोलेका थिए तिनीहरूले त्यसको सामना गर्न सकेनन् ।
11 Then they suborned men, who said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and God.
त्यसपछि तिनीहरूले केही मानिसहरूलाई गुप्तमा मनाई यसो भन्न लगाए, “हामीले स्तिफनसले मोशा र परमेश्वरको विरुद्धमा ईश्वर-निन्दक वचनहरू बोलेका सुनेका छौँ ।”
12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and seized him, and brought him to the council,
तिनीहरूले मानिसहरू, एल्डरहरू, शास्त्रीहरूलाई उक्साए अनि स्तिफनससित मुकाबला गरे; तिनलाई पक्रे र परिषद्मा ल्याए ।
13 and set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceaseth not to speak words against the holy place, and the Law.
तिनीहरूले झुटा साक्षीहरू पेस गरे जसले भने, “यो मानिसले यस पवित्रस्थान र व्यवस्थाको विरुद्धमा बोल्न छाड्दैन ।
14 For we have heard him say, This Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place, and change the customs which Moses delivered to us.
नासरतको यो येशूले यस स्थानलाई नष्ट पार्नेछ र मोशाले हामीलाई सुम्पेका चलनहरूलाई बद्लनेछ भनी त्यसले बोलेको हामीले सुनेका छौँ ।”
15 And all that sat in the council, looking steadily upon him, saw his face like the face of an angel.
परिषद्मा जम्मा भएका हरेकको आँखा तिनमा केन्द्रित भयो र तिनको मोहोडा स्वर्गदूतको झैँ देखियो ।
