1 Timothy 6
1 Let as many as are slaves under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine not be blasphemed.
Akik iga alatt vannak, mint szolgák, urukat teljes tiszteletre méltóknak tartsák, hogy miattuk Isten nevét és a tanítást ne káromolják.
2 Those who have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brothers, but rather let them serve them, because those who partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.
Akiknek pedig hívő uruk van, azokat ne becsüljék le, hanem annál inkább szolgáljanak nekik, hiszen atyafiak, hívők és szeretettek, akik jó cselekedetekben buzgólkodnak. Ezeket tanítsd és hirdesd!
3 If anyone teaches a different doctrine, and does not consent to sound words, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness,
Ha valaki másként tanít, és nem követi a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztus egészséges igéjét és az istenfélelem szerint való tanítást,
4 he is conceited, knowing nothing, but obsessed with arguments, disputes, and word battles, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,
az felfuvalkodott, aki semmit sem ért, hanem vitatkozások és szóharcok betege, amiből csak irigység, viszálykodás, istenkáromlás, rosszindulatú gyanúsítás származik.
5 constant friction of people of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.
Megbomlott elméjű és az igazságtól megfosztott emberek hiábavaló torzsalkodása mindez, akik az istenfélelmet nyerészkedésnek tekintik.
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
De valóban nagy nyereség az istenfélelem megelégedéssel,
7 For we brought nothing into the world, so neither can we carry anything out.
mert semmit sem hoztunk a világra, világos, hogy ki sem vihetünk semmit,
8 But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.
de ha van élelmünk és ruházatunk, elégedjünk meg vele.
9 But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as plunge people into ruin and destruction.
Akik pedig meg akarnak gazdagodni, kísértésbe, csapdába és sok esztelen és káros kívánságba esnek, amelyek az embert veszedelembe és romlásba döntik.
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Mert minden rossznak gyökere a pénz szerelme, amely után sóvárogva egyesek eltévelyednek a hittől, és sok fájdalmat okoznak önmaguknak.
11 But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.
Te pedig, Isten embere, ezeket kerüld. Ellenben kövesd az igazságot, az istenfélelmet, a hitet, a szeretetet, a békességes tűrést, a szelídséget.
12 Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold of the everlasting life to which you were called, and you confessed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses. (aiōnios g166)
Harcold meg a hitnek szép harcát, nyerd el az örök életet, amelyre elhívattál, és amelyről vallást tettél szép hitvallással sok tanú előtt. (aiōnios g166)
13 I command you before God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate testified the good confession,
Meghagyom neked Isten színe előtt, aki életet ad mindennek, és Krisztus Jézus előtt, aki bizonyságot tett Poncius Pilátus előtt azzal a szép hitvallással,
14 that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ;
hogy tartsd meg a parancsolatot mocsoktalanul, feddhetetlenül a mi Urunk Jézus Krisztus megjelenéséig,
15 which in its own times he will show, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
amelyet a maga idejében megmutat a boldog és egyedül hatalmas, a királyok királya és az uraknak Ura.
16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; whom no human has seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen. (aiōnios g166)

17 Charge those who are rich in this present world that they not be haughty, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy; (aiōn g165)
Azoknak pedig, akik gazdagok e világon, mondd meg, hogy ne fuvalkodjanak fel, és ne reménykedjenek a bizonytalan gazdagságban, hanem az élő Istenben, aki bőségesen megad nekünk mindent megélhetésünkre. (aiōn g165)
18 that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
Tegyenek jót, legyenek gazdagok a jó cselekedetekben, szívesen adakozzanak, és osszák meg javaikat másokkal,
19 laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of that which is truly life.
és így a jövőt megalapozó kincset gyűjtsenek, hogy elnyerjék az örök életet.
20 Timothy, guard that which is committed to you, turning away from the empty chatter and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called;
Timóteus, őrizd meg, ami rád van bízva. Fordulj el a szentségtelen, üres beszédektől és a hamis tanítás ellenvetéseitől,
21 which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with you.
amelyet egyesek hirdetnek, és a hittől eltévelyedtek. Kegyelem legyen veled! Ámen.
