< 2 Timothy 1 >
1 Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, on account of the promise of life, which is by Christ Jesus;
PAULOS, an apostle of Jeshu Meshiha by the will of Aloha, and on account of the promise of life which is in Jeshu Meshiha,
2 to Timothy, my beloved son: Favor, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from Christ Jesus our Lord.
to Timotheos my beloved son: grace and mercies and peace from Aloha our Father, and from our Lord Jeshu Meshiha.
3 I give thanks to God, (whom from my forefathers I serve with a pure conscience, ) that I have unceasing remembrance of you in my prayers night and day;
I thank Aloha, whom I serve from my fathers with a pure conscience, that constantly I remember thee in my prayers of the night and of the day;
4 remembering your tears, I greatly desire to see you, that I may be filled with joy:
and have longed to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy:
5 calling to remembrance also the unfeigned faith which is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois, and in your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded that it dwells in you also.
in remembrance of thee (and) of thy true faith which dwelt first in the mother of thy mother Lois, and in thy mother Eunika, and which, I am persuaded, (is) in thee also.
6 For which cause I put you in mind to stir up the spiritual gift of God, which is in you through the imposition of my hands.
On account of this I put thee in mind to keep awake the gift of Aloha, which is in thee by the laying on of my hands.
7 For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice; but of power, and of love, and of self-government.
For Aloha hath not given to us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of discipline.
8 Wherefore, be not ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but jointly suffer evil for the gospel, according to the power of God;
Wherefore be not thou ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but sustain evil with the gospel, through the power of Aloha,
9 who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, --not on account of our works; but on account of his own purpose and favor, which was given us through Christ Jesus, before the times of the ages, (aiōnios )
who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling; not according to our works, but according to his will, and that grace of his which was given to us in Jeshu Meshiha before the time of the worlds, (aiōnios )
10 and is now manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ; who has, indeed, vanquished death, and brought life and incorruptibility to light by the gospel:
and is now revealed by the revelation of our Saviour Jeshu Meshiha, who hath abolished death, and hath demonstrated life and incorruption, through the gospel,
11 of which I am appointed a herald, and an Apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles:
of which I am appointed an herald and an apostle and a teacher of the nations:
12 for which cause I also suffer these things. Nevertheless, I am not ashamed; for I know in whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to preserve what I have committed in trust to him, till that day.
on account of which I suffer these, and am not ashamed. I know in whom I have believed, and am persuaded that there is power in his hands my deposite to keep for me unto that day.
13 The form of wholesome words, which you have heard from me, hold fast, with the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.
Let the outline of sound words be with thee, which thou hast heard from me, with the faith and love which are in Jeshu Meshiha:
14 The good deposit guard by the Holy Spirit, who dwells in us.
that good deposite keep through the Spirit of Holiness who dwelleth in us.
15 You know this, that all they who are in Asia have turned me off; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
Know this, that all those of Asia are turned from me, of whom are Phygellos and Harmogenes.
16 May the Lord grant mercy to the family of Onesiphorus; for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:
Our Lord give mercies to the house of Onesiphoros, who many times hath refreshed me, and of the chains of my bonds hath not been ashamed.
17 but being in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.
But when also he came to Ruma, with diligence he sought me, and found me.
18 May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord in that day! And how many services he rendered to me in Ephesus, you well know.
Our Lord grant that he may find mercies with our Lord in that day: and how he ministered to me in Ephesos thou especially knowest.
