Proverbs 4
1 Hear, you sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding.
Escuchad, hijos, la instrucción de un padre. Presta atención y conoce la comprensión;
2 For I have given to you good learning, do not forsake my law.
porque te doy un aprendizaje sólido. No abandones mi ley.
3 For I have been a son to my father—tender, And an only one before my mother.
Porque yo era hijo de mi padre, tierna y única a los ojos de mi madre.
4 And he directs me, and he says to me: “Let your heart retain my words, Keep my commands, and live.
Me enseñó y me dijo: “Que tu corazón retenga mis palabras. Guarda mis mandamientos y vive.
5 Get wisdom, get understanding, Do not forget, nor turn away From the sayings of my mouth.
Obtenga sabiduría. Compréndelo. No lo olvides, y no te desvíes de las palabras de mi boca.
6 Do not forsake her, and she preserves you, Love her, and she keeps you.
No la abandones, y ella te preservará. Ámala, y ella te mantendrá.
7 The first thing [is] wisdom—get wisdom, And with all your getting get understanding.
La sabiduría es suprema. Consigue sabiduría. Sí, aunque te cueste todas tus posesiones, sé comprensivo.
8 Exalt her and she lifts you up, She honors you when you embrace her.
Estimadla, y ella os exaltará. Ella te llevará al honor cuando la abraces.
9 She gives a wreath of grace to your head, She gives you a crown of beauty freely.”
Ella dará a tu cabeza una guirnalda de gracia. Te entregará una corona de esplendor”.
10 Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And years of life [are] multiplied to you.
Escucha, hijo mío, y recibe mis palabras. Los años de tu vida serán muchos.
11 I have directed you in a way of wisdom, I have caused you to tread in paths of uprightness.
Te he enseñado el camino de la sabiduría. Te he guiado por caminos rectos.
12 In your walking your step is not restricted, And if you run, you do not stumble.
Cuando vayas, tus pasos no se verán obstaculizados. Cuando corras, no tropezarás.
13 Lay hold on instruction, do not desist, Keep her, for she [is] your life.
Agarra firmemente la instrucción. No la dejes ir. Quédate con ella, porque es tu vida.
14 Do not enter into the path of the wicked, And do not be blessed in a way of evildoers.
No entres en el camino de los malvados. No sigas el camino de los hombres malos.
15 Avoid it, do not pass over into it, Turn aside from it, and pass on.
Evítalo y no pases de largo. Apártate de él y pasa de largo.
16 For they do not sleep if they do no evil, And their sleep has been taken away violently, If they do not cause [some] to stumble.
Porque no duermen si no hacen el mal. Se les quita el sueño, a menos que hagan caer a alguien.
17 For they have eaten bread of wickedness, And they drink wine of violence.
Porque comen el pan de la maldad y beber el vino de la violencia.
18 And the path of the righteous [is] as a shining light, Going and brightening until the day is established,
Pero el camino de los justos es como la luz del amanecer que brilla más y más hasta el día perfecto.
19 The way of the wicked [is] as darkness, They have not known at what they stumble.
El camino de los malvados es como la oscuridad. No saben con qué tropiezan.
20 My son, give attention to my words, Incline your ear to my sayings,
Hijo mío, atiende a mis palabras. Poned el oído en mis palabras.
21 Do not let them turn aside from your eyes, Preserve them in the midst of your heart.
Que no se aparten de tus ojos. Manténgalos en el centro de su corazón.
22 For they [are] life to those finding them, And healing to all their flesh.
Porque son la vida para los que las encuentran, y salud a todo su cuerpo.
23 Above every charge keep your heart, For out of it [are] the outgoings of life.
Guarda tu corazón con toda diligencia, porque de ella brota el manantial de la vida.
24 Turn aside a contrary mouth from you, And put perverse lips far from you,
Aparta de ti la boca perversa. Poner los labios corruptos lejos de ti.
25 Your eyes look straightforward, And your eyelids look straight before you.
Deja que tus ojos miren al frente. Fija tu mirada directamente delante de ti.
26 Ponder the path of your feet, And all your ways [are] established.
Haz que el camino de tus pies sea llano. Que se establezcan todos sus caminos.
27 Do not incline [to] the right or to the left, Turn aside your foot from evil!
No te vuelvas a la derecha ni a la izquierda. Retira tu pie del mal.
