< Job 2 >

1 And the day is, that sons of God come to station themselves by YHWH, and there also comes Satan in their midst to station himself by YHWH.
Yon jou tout zanj Bondye yo te reyini devan Seyè a, Satan vini tou nan mitan yo.
2 And YHWH says to Satan, “From where have you come?” And Satan answers YHWH and says, “From going to and fro in the land, and from walking up and down in it.”
Seyè a mande l': -Kote ou soti? Satan reponn: -Mwen sot moute desann toupatou sou latè, mwen t'ap pwonmennen gade.
3 And YHWH says to Satan, “Have you set your heart to My servant Job because there is none like him in the land, a man perfect and upright, fearing God and turning aside from evil? And still he is keeping hold on his integrity, and you move Me against him to swallow him up for nothing!”
4 And Satan answers YHWH and says, “A skin for a skin, and all that a man has he gives for his life.
Satan reponn li: -Lavi miyò pase byen! Yon moun va bay tou sa li genyen pou l' pa mouri.
5 Yet, put forth Your hand now, and strike to his bone and to his flesh—if not, he blesses You to Your face!”
Men, si ou manyen kò pa l' menm, ou mèt sèten fwa sa a, l'ap di sa li pa t' dwe di sou ou nan figi ou.
6 And YHWH says to Satan, “Behold, he [is] in your hand; only take care of his life.”
Seyè a di Satan konsa: -Ou mèt fè sa ou vle avè l'. Men, pa touye l' pou mwen.
7 And Satan goes forth from the presence of YHWH, and strikes Job with a severe ulcer from the sole of his foot to his crown.
Lamenm, Satan vire do l', li ale. Li fè gwo bouton pete sou tout kò Jòb, depi anba pla pye l' jouk nan po tèt li.
8 And he takes to him a potsherd to scrape himself with it, and he is sitting in the midst of the ashes.
Lè sa a, Jòb soti, li al chita nan pil sann kote yo boule fatra. Li pran yon moso krich kraze pou grate kò l'.
9 And his wife says to him, “You are still keeping hold on your integrity: bless God and die.”
Madanm li di l' konsa: -Ou nan kenbe pye Bondye fèm toujou? Joure l' byen joure, epi mouri mouri ou kont fini!
10 And he says to her, “As one of the foolish women speaks, you speak; indeed, do we receive the good from God, and we do not receive the bad?” In all this Job has not sinned with his lips.
11 And three of the friends of Job hear of all this evil that has come on him, and they each come in from his place—Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite—and they have met together to come to bemoan him, and to comfort him;
Twa nan zanmi Jòb yo vin konnen tout malè ki te tonbe sou li. Yo kite peyi yo, yo vin wè Job. Se te Elifaz, moun Teman, Bildad, moun Chwak, epi Sofa, moun Naama. Yo fè lide vin ansanm pou plenn sò li epi pou ba li kouraj.
12 and they lift up their eyes from afar and have not discerned him, and they lift up their voice and weep, and each tears his robe, and sprinkle dust on their heads—heavenward.
Yo te yon bèl ti distans toujou lè yo wè Jòb. Yo pa t' rekonèt li. Lè yo rekonèt li, dlo vin nan je yo, yo konmanse rele, yo kriye. Yo chire rad sou yo, yo voye pousyè tè sou tèt yo tèlman sa te fè yo lapenn.
13 And they sit with him on the earth seven days and seven nights, and there is none speaking to him a word when they have seen that the pain has been very great.
Apre sa, yo chita atè a bò kot Jòb pandan sèt jou sèt nwit san di yon mo, paske yo te wè jan l'ap soufri.
