Genesis 17
1 And Abram is a son of ninety-nine years, and YHWH appears to Abram, and says to him, “I [am] God Almighty, habitually walk before Me, and be perfect;
«Io sono Dio onnipotente: cammina davanti a me e sii integro. Quando Abram ebbe novantanove anni, il Signore gli apparve e gli disse:
2 and I give My covenant between Me and you, and multiply you very exceedingly.”
Porrò la mia alleanza tra me e te e ti renderò numeroso molto, molto».
3 And Abram falls on his face, and God speaks with him, saying,
Subito Abram si prostrò con il viso a terra e Dio parlò con lui:
4 “I—behold, My covenant [is] with you, and you have become father of a multitude of nations;
«Eccomi: la mia alleanza è con te e sarai padre di una moltitudine di popoli.
5 and your name is no longer called Abram, but your name has been Abraham, for father of a multitude of nations have I made you;
Non ti chiamerai più Abram ma ti chiamerai Abraham perché padre di una moltitudine di popoli ti renderò.
6 and I have made you exceedingly fruitful, and made you become nations, and kings go out from you.
E ti renderò molto, molto fecondo; ti farò diventare nazioni e da te nasceranno dei re.
7 And I have established My covenant between Me and you, and your seed after you, throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant, to become God to you, and to your seed after you;
Stabilirò la mia alleanza con te e con la tua discendenza dopo di te di generazione in generazione, come alleanza perenne, per essere il Dio tuo e della tua discendenza dopo di te.
8 and I have given to you, and to your seed after you, the land of your sojournings, the whole land of Canaan, for a continuous possession, and I have become their God.”
Darò a te e alla tua discendenza dopo di te il paese dove sei straniero, tutto il paese di Canaan in possesso perenne; sarò il vostro Dio».
9 And God says to Abraham, “And you keep My covenant, you and your seed after you, throughout their generations;
Disse Dio ad Abramo: «Da parte tua devi osservare la mia alleanza, tu e la tua discendenza dopo di te di generazione in generazione.
10 this [is] My covenant which you keep between Me and you, and your seed after you: every male of you [is] to be circumcised;
Questa è la mia alleanza che dovete osservare, alleanza tra me e voi e la tua discendenza dopo di te: sia circonciso tra di voi ogni maschio.
11 and you have circumcised the flesh of your foreskin, and it has become a token of a covenant between Me and you.
Vi lascerete circoncidere la carne del vostro membro e ciò sarà il segno dell'alleanza tra me e voi.
12 And a son of eight days is circumcised by you; every male throughout your generations, born in the house, or bought with money from any son of a stranger, who is not of your seed;
Quando avrà otto giorni, sarà circonciso tra di voi ogni maschio di generazione in generazione, tanto quello nato in casa come quello comperato con denaro da qualunque straniero che non sia della tua stirpe.
13 he is certainly circumcised who [is] born in your house, or bought with your money; and My covenant has become in your flesh a perpetual covenant;
Deve essere circonciso chi è nato in casa e chi viene comperato con denaro; così la mia alleanza sussisterà nella vostra carne come alleanza perenne.
14 and an uncircumcised one, a male, the flesh of whose foreskin is not circumcised, indeed, that person has been cut off from his people; My covenant he has broken.”
Il maschio non circonciso, di cui cioè non sarà stata circoncisa la carne del membro, sia eliminato dal suo popolo: ha violato la mia alleanza».
15 And God says to Abraham, “Sarai your wife—you do not call her name Sarai, for Sarah [is] her name;
Dio aggiunse ad Abramo: «Quanto a Sarai tua moglie, non la chiamerai più Sarai, ma Sara.
16 and I have blessed her, and have also given to you a son from her; and I have blessed her, and she has become nations—kings of peoples are from her.”
Io la benedirò e anche da lei ti darò un figlio; la benedirò e diventerà nazioni e re di popoli nasceranno da lei».
17 And Abraham falls on his face, and laughs, and says in his heart, “Is one born to the son of one hundred years? Or does Sarah—daughter of ninety years—bear?”
Allora Abramo si prostrò con la faccia a terra e rise e pensò: «Ad uno di cento anni può nascere un figlio? E Sara all'età di novanta anni potrà partorire?».
18 And Abraham says to God, “O that Ishmael may live before You”;
Abramo disse a Dio: «Se almeno Ismaele potesse vivere davanti a te!».
19 and God says, “Your wife Sarah is certainly bearing a son to you, and you have called his name Isaac, and I have established My covenant with him, for a perpetual covenant, to his seed after him.
E Dio disse: «No, Sara, tua moglie, ti partorirà un figlio e lo chiamerai Isacco. Io stabilirò la mia alleanza con lui come alleanza perenne, per essere il Dio suo e della sua discendenza dopo di lui.
20 As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I have blessed him, and made him fruitful, and multiplied him, very exceedingly; twelve princes does he beget, and I have made him become a great nation;
Anche riguardo a Ismaele io ti ho esaudito: ecco, io lo benedico e lo renderò fecondo e molto, molto numeroso: dodici principi egli genererà e di lui farò una grande nazione.
21 and My covenant I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah does bear to you at this appointed time in the next year”;
Ma stabilirò la mia alleanza con Isacco, che Sara ti partorirà a questa data l'anno venturo».
22 and He finishes speaking with him, and God goes up from Abraham.
Dio terminò così di parlare con lui e, salendo in alto, lasciò Abramo.
23 And Abraham takes his son Ishmael, and all those born in his house, and all those bought with his money—every male among the men of Abraham’s house and circumcises the flesh of their foreskin, in this very same day, as God has spoken with him.
Allora Abramo prese Ismaele suo figlio e tutti i nati nella sua casa e tutti quelli comperati con il suo denaro, tutti i maschi appartenenti al personale della casa di Abramo, e circoncise la carne del loro membro in quello stesso giorno, come Dio gli aveva detto.
24 And Abraham [is] a son of ninety-nine years in the flesh of his foreskin being circumcised;
Ora Abramo aveva novantanove anni, quando si fece circoncidere la carne del membro.
25 and his son Ishmael [is] a son of thirteen years in the flesh of his foreskin being circumcised;
Ismaele suo figlio aveva tredici anni quando gli fu circoncisa la carne del membro.
26 in this very same day Abraham has been circumcised, and his son Ishmael;
In quello stesso giorno furono circoncisi Abramo e Ismaele suo figlio.
27 and all the men of his house—born in the house, and bought with money from the son of a stranger—have been circumcised with him.
E tutti gli uomini della sua casa, i nati in casa e i comperati con denaro dagli stranieri, furono circoncisi con lui.
